she's a popular name but does not sell records since the 80es (apart from the exception of her featuring on the 2022 sanremo song that was a good success). Back in the day Elton John really loved her and gifted her with two songs: "this Time" and "Remember". In the late 70es and early 80es some of her singles sold millions of copies

Since the song talked about not wanting to be called Donatella in a jokeful manner (and later on in the song acting as if "Donatella" was a different person from Rettore and as if this Donatella died), she acted in the performances for this song as if she went completely insane from people calling her by her full name. She also wanted to see how the conductors would react

She only used her surname Rettore professionally at the time (and mostly today) and this is a very ironical song in which she complains about being called Donatella. She was very popular in the late '70s - early '80s. Her greatest hits are "Splendido splendente" (about cosmetic surgery), "Kobra" (about the male sexual organ) and "Lamette" (about cutting oneself with razor blades). She competed at Sanremo Festival last year with Ditonellapiaga ("Chimica").

The song genre is ska. The lyrics are totally nonsense and, as someone already wrote, she complained about the fact that everybody started to call her using her first name instead of her family name (and also stage name).
