All Within My Hands is a very dark and personal song for me, it ties into the lowest point of my life so far. Infact the whole St. Anger album for me holds a deep place in my psyche. Each song has its own meaning to what I went through. The anger, control and rawness of the original All Within My Hands was what I connected with, but this, man, this just hits my soul. To me this version gives off the 'faced down my devil and won but at a huge cost' vibe. It is so insidious and dark but those last lines Hetfield sings (beautifully by the way) make me feel like the demon died and you just buried him but a piece of him lives within you forever like it or not, embrace it or repel it.

Don't know if you know this, but it's pretty amazing that the story behind the song is EXACTLY what you expressing here from your own experience. James wrote this song after he realized him and Lars bascially abused Jason for decades because of the grief and loss of Cliff, and it was too late to turn it around (Jason was already gone from the band). So James wrote this as a way of expressing he realized his mistake, and even though he can't correct it. He can learn from it and move on.

now that i have matured alittle more, this makes so much sense to me now. i couldn't let go of someone very special to me and it almost destroyed my relationship with that person. i had a severe anxiety attack and alienated that person to a point that she questioned what was wrong with me. letting go of something or someone can mean the world, even if it's terrifying and the person is near and dear to you
@murathanyesiloglu18314 ай бұрын
I went through the same path my friend. Was afraid of losing her so much that I actually lost her through a series of mistakes. I felt like it was all within my hands. Like the pulling leash thing in the song I thought I was in control. This song has been very humbling to me. Though I could not let her go because I know I would die if I did. I just wait for her sign to be "us" again. Only difference is that the one who's waiting for her is not the man she fell in love with. It's someone a lot more mature. Before then, she dealt with an incomplete soul. If she ever comes back, she will have to deal with a harder man like she was a hard woman like she was before. Damn I am just riffing at this point. I am just glad that I came across a similar soul in you. Hold it there and hold it dear, we will be a lot better.
