Why do they keep requesting live!? Please Drew, don't do live versions until you react to the studio version. The sound live is too messy for you to appreciate the music. I imagine people suggest live versions because the crowds are insane, but I'd rather he react to the song and its nuances. You don't get that with live versions.

@@PatriotIzzy There are songs like "The Thing That Should Not Be" that simply work better in live tuning and with the expressions, theatrics, and "dazzle". And since Seattle '89 was as close to a perfect performance as you'll get from any band start-to-finish, it's a natural pick for the songs that appear.

@markgregory9835 жыл бұрын
You just nailed Metallica man. You said you can pick up the vibe they bring, yet its different. This is what makes them so distinct. James (and cliff rip) are masters of their craft. They write the riffs and tempo changes to convey the emotion of the song (as you noticed with this song, the calm before the storm, the decision, and the long slow fade to black). I know you didnt like "one" much due to the vid, but ifnyou were to listen to it the same way you did here, you would see the true emotion conveyed through the music (the build up to the life changing event, the realisation of his hell, and the aftermath when he lets go) Songs like Dyer's Eve, Disposable Heroes, Ride the Lightning, Orion, Master of Puppets, Nothing Else Matters showcase the range James really has with musicianship. Not a lot of bands are able to do this. Pink Ffloyd, Linkin Park, Tool, Nightwish, Dream Theatre, Karnivool, are a few off the top off my head, that have very distinct sounds that write in a way that you can see that extra something special, but also instantly know its them.

Been waiting for you to hear this one. Its literally my favorite song full stop. Beautiful intro, brings awareness to feelings many are afraid to bring to the table and talk about, beautiful ending with a solo from Kirk that is pure perfection. It's a dark track yes, but so beautiful.

This song came on the radio when I was driving to my father's funeral after his suicide 20 years ago this year and it hit me harder than any song has before, or after, in a good way. Music helps cope with feelings too deep to feel by myself.
@kennysoriginalmusicchannel59165 жыл бұрын
Also, "To live is to die" from Metallica is another great song you should check out. It's an instrumental but it is a song that they put together as a dedication to their old bass player that played on this song fade to black and also on the next album after this one "Master of Puppets." His classical influence and brilliant emotive song writing style really came through intensely on Master of Puppets and the other two albums before it, ride the lightning and kill em all their first album! He was in an accident on their tour bus and was killed sadly just as Metallica was reaching their prime. Cliff Burton is his name and he was in my humble opinion one of if not the single reason why Metallica started to get big and gain notoriety. Seeing him play live must have been amazing because I've seen videos of him playing and he made that bass sound like a electric guitar and played it like Beethoven would lol! I didn't get into Metallica until the "And justice for all" album when I was just a kid but I bought all of their albums and caught up with their many master-pieces Awesome band all around! Enjoy the journey and R.I.P. Cliff!

Orion or To Live Is To Die- Metallica. Orion is their third instrumental and Cliff Burton's (bassist) last instrumental that he wrote and played before he died in 86, if consists of what is considered Cliff's best work (two bass solos, and a beautiful interlude riff). To live is to die is Metallicas tribute to Cliff, also an instrumental. Jason Newsted (Cliff's replacement) was given the last ideas Cliff had been working on and fashioned them into that song, technically making it Cliffs last song.

Metal community is where it's at brah. The lyrics to this genre touch on subjects that are considered taboo. But it touches on the subjects of the human experience in a way that allows us to release our tension in a positive way. And it also allows us to connect to certain songs that deliver specific emotions. This is why we are loyal to our bands. Welcome to the scene brah and catch that rhythm lol. "Something completely different from anything I've heard from Metallica" Hehehe, you'll get used to it. The one thing it's damned near impossible to do to Metallica is pigeonhole them for genre or style. The first 4 albums though, what you will grab onto is the guitar tone; it's clean and dirty at the same time, it's fairly unique among anything I've heard. Since I've been around a while, I've heard a lot...

Metal artists have as much to say with the lyrics and the meaning behind them as any other musical genre (and more than some 😂). For example "Creeping Death" which yourself and Amy (Ami?) already listened to is about the Jews as slaves to the Egyptian pharaohs and their escape from persecution with the plagues of Egypt and the Passover. Food for thought. Also Iron Maiden have LOADS to say with their music too, history, theology, horror, war etc. Give them a listen. Recommendations would be - "Hallowed Be Thy Name" , "Rhyme Of The Ancient Mariner", "Flight Of Icarus"
