Bro, I’m a 46-year-old man who grew up with gangsta rap and Metallica. I feel like you have brought me back to my childhood (with a lot of your reaction videos) and have made it quite apparent that at some point I would love to shake your hand. I am new to KZbin and new to reaction videos. Thank you for what you’re doing. I feel like you are Making a musical/racial divide Disappear . For that, I Thank you; Rick-

What I will say is there is a lot of black folk listening to rock music on here, and a lot of older white males who react to hip hop. I like the reactions of people discovering genres of music they’re not necessarily familiar with, there is something somewhat addictive about watching people learn and discover new music.

Although many Metallica fans would disagree but I think Ride the Lightening is their best album. I got it back in 84 when it was released and was my first TRUE metal record and was in love instantly. Creeping Death, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Fight Fire With Fire, Trapped Under Ice, Fade To Black and Call of Ktulu are songs I could listen to over and over without getting sick of them.

I have to disagree with you about the black album. In my opinion it's 50 50. Half the songs are good and half the songs are kinda lacking. After that album I stopped listening to them. They cut their hair and started playing what I call corporate rock. Load of shit. Reload of shit. I'll take early Metallica any day.

Not surprised you felt like you were in a horror movie. Most of Metallica’s early music was a huge adrenaline dump into the senses. Same feeling as running from danger or kicking someone’s ass. I’m sure war takes that to a whole other level. Thankfully, I’ve never been through that, but thanks and props to those that have or do!

What you're probably hearing is the fact that a lot of rock and metal songs are in a minor key. If I remember correctly, "For Whom the Bell Tolls" is in Em. Minor keys bring out a feeling of dread and people have been using that particular trick since the Classical days.

That's why I listen to rock/metal. The instrumentation gets me. I barely pay attention to the lyrics. I love "For Whom the Bell Tolls" because the riffs and drums feel so heavy. I also love the bass guitar riff in the intro. Instrumentation in songs usually have hooks for me, the way choruses have hooks for most other people.

Great reaction ! The lyrics actually refer to the singer labeling the ones who controlled his religious thoughts and actions (his parents, and their church) Unforgiven for not allowing him to express his true self and truly be the human being he was potentially meant to be. If you know the history of the lead singer, James Hetfield's childhood, then this song becomes even that much more powerful.

Unforgiven parts 1 and 2 form an absolutely stunning, yet deeply sad story of a person who was abused as a child and as a result struggles to form intimate relationships or trust anyone as an adult and ended up killing someone. When Black Sabbath first began what we now call the heavy metal genre, they were partially inspired by seeing people leaving the cinema after watching horror movies (they were also inspired by their dreary, post-war, industrial surroundings). They asked themselves, why is it that people pay to be scared at the movies? Then they decided that they would write music that scares people just like horror movies. This is probably why you get a horror movie vibe when you hear metal.

In case you were unaware, on the intro to For Whom The Bells, the high pitched riff you hear from 8 seconds in is actually a Bass Guitar instead of a Electric Guitar. A lot of people won't pick up on this, since the Bass Guitar usually occupies the lower end of the sound spectrum, but Cliff Burton plays that intro on the higher end for a unique sound.

Gahhhh we are on the same music wave this AM, I was just rockin it with the metal version of Adele's Hello. 😍😍 Metallica is a classic that cant be outdone, much like Kiss, Aerosmith, Queen, et al. I loved watching you get into it. Thats a band the air guitars are a MUST for!! I felt accomplished as a Mom when on the way to FL for a cruise my child, 10/11 at the time, who had his Beatz on started loudly singing Bohemian Rhapsody & Highway To Hell. we have all been lost in the music. I for one have been lost lyrics and beat. I am old enough to remember Rapper's delight. Yet, young enough that alll but some songs need to be shared to show that a genre is nothing but a predetermined set of scales and sound effects.

Hey there. Kym from Western Australia here. AC/DC are Australian if you didn’t know. I grew up with these guys and they still rock. Could you please review AC/DC, Thunderstruck-Live at River Plate. You won’t regret it. That crowd is heaving! Thanks. :)

I had friends that were into Metallica when we were in 7th grade when Injustice for All came out. It wasn't until the Black album came out was when I started to like their music. I like all their albums. I think their Garage Works album is way under rated. I think the reason for that is because that whole album is cover music. They took the classic Whiskey in the Jar by Thin Lizzy and gave it new life in that album.

In a relatively recent interview, Lars & James admitted that the song "Enter Sandman" originally began as a one about crib death but decided that was too dark & disturbing for large-scale marketing so they adapted the lyrics to represent childhood nightmares instead. Apparently, that was a _very_ good decision on their part. 🤘
