I don't think people realize how much of a rare treat it is to see a band of this magnitude allowing the creative process to be seen like this. Most musicians are really protective and private during this process. It's awesome stuff!

devin barnum I think one of the reasons why they can/want to published videos is the fact that they have nothing to hide while making these songs. I mean James doesn’t use autotune/pitch correction and the instruments are played by human not a computer. Which are pretty common things to do these days in the music business.
@radosawwalkowski5824

Nowadays most of the singers use pitch corrections, but even if James uses it it's so subtle you wouldn't recognize the difference

I understand why Hetfield can't use that voice constantly throughout a two hour live show night after night; but one thing I love about these making of mini docs is seeing him recording the vocals - I know he's never really seen himself as a singer but, fuck, the man has one almighty growl in him.

It does feel uninspired, I agree. I wont say its bad, but it lacks that cutting edge that they had in their first four albums. There isnt one threatening riff, one riff that takes you to the edge. Even spit out the bone which is their most "metal" song in this album sounds soft and round. Again, Im not saying its bad, its just missing its originality, its spirit.

*Hello there! I wanna share my opinion on this specific song:* When I first heard 'ManUNkind' I wasn't that sure if this song was good enough for my liking. In other words, this was the most challenging song on the entire album. I wasn't that satisfied with it. But then I decided to give that song more than one try. And guess what? Now i'm in love with it! This song (for me) has the vibes of 'Load/Reload' and some touch of the 'Black Album' vibe. So, Metallica fans, please, give the album more than one shot. After all, we haven't waited 8 years for nothing. This album is the real deal. This is actually the first album I have ever pre-ordered. Got the CD and a digital copy from Google Play Music. This album is played non-stop on my PC and my phone when i'm outside. Thank you, Metallica! Awesome record. #AlbumOfTheYear #HardwiredToSelfDestruct \m/

Spit Out The Bone is like a Vengeance Falls song, fits the album art for Vengeance Falls too. This song reminds me a lot of Volbeat.

I wish for the next album they would leave HQ and go back to sweet silence and put flemming back at the controls and try to get that puppets vibe going again. I love this album but would also be cool to see them go back to their roots for just one more album. Then after that HQ and gregg are fine

Scott Brown yea i know but we have to hope. i also found out the original sweet silence they recorded lightning and puppets in was tore down in 2009 to build apartment's. they built a new one. i think those old studios where albums like that are made should be considered historical landmarks and be preserved. im afraid one on one the studio from the black album and everyone knows from year and a half in the life of will be next to be destroyed. the last time i heard it was a yoga place or something and not in too great of shape. i guess with most people recording in home studios and no budgets to record with anymore all the great studios will face this fate.
