I love that they did a live studio performance of the entire album, which is just a great way to see how a band plays on their own. Besides, you get like another version of the album and kind of a preview to what they would do live. Was it an extra incentive to buy the album?... Sure. - I'd have bought it without the DVD, but I definitely felt it was an extra treat. - But these days, people wouldn't care, especially the newer generation, since everyone knows it will end up on the internet in one way or another. - There are still plenty of people that like to buy physical, but it's a dying generation. - We're 18 years on now and, while at times they still include like a DVD with extras, it's just not that interesting anymore and artists will often throw everything up on KZbin themselves now. I will say that one trend I hated was these bands (often symphonic ones) that would throw in an entire second CD with "instrumentals", but it was often literally just the same CD with the vocals removed and no extra or alternate arrangements or anything. I felt that was a very cheap way to give people extras and a waste of plastic as well. - What point does that serve?... Singers who want to do karaoke?... I mean, I sing and I don't even care, I just want to hear the full thing if I do listen to the album. - And sometimes they would throw in a track that just has the background-orchestration and it would sound very empty. - Just what?... - If they wanted to give extra content, they should've made new songs or arrangements or something. It used to be that singles and EPs and such would get some "B-side" tracks or covers, which usually wouldn't be that great, but at least that would make it somewhat interesting. - Anyway...
