Movies like “The Thing” and “The Mist,” while not by lovecraft, are Lovecraftian stories. Basically stories about (usually) tentacled monsters too crazy to comprehend on the surface, and allegories about the inner workings of the human imagination once you peel them back. Cliff was a well-read kid.

I personally love Kirk's solo in this track. Matches the song so perfectly. Absolutely right it personifies the theme of the lyrics about chuthulu mythos. It's got that nastiness about it as if you're about to get swallowed whole.

As powerful and great as every track is on this album, you can amplify that ten fold when listened to as a whole. It has peaks and troughs, lulls and moments of frenetic power. It is a powerhouse album and I would heartily recommend that when you've done the tracks individually doing the whole album in one and letting it take you on its journey. Thats when you truly appreciate why its generally regarded as one of the greatest albums of all time! 🤘🤘🤘

You need to react if or if "Disposable Heroes" "Leper Messiah" and "Damage Inc." The last song of those, I feel that it is much more frantic and fast enough that you yearn to have such a long mess to headbaging in its splendor, do not rule out the song "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)" that talks about the perspective and posture of a person having to endure and tolerate the confinement of a madhouse or a prison itself, causing himself the point of falling into madness itself. Fun fact: This is the first Metallica song ever to be played in the tuning D Standard. In fact it is the first Metallica song ever to be played in any tuning lower than E standard.

@Juicey Kisses Well, nearly every song on St. Anger was in Drop C, so Some Kind Of Monster isn't alone. Besides, even drop C wasn't the lowest they've ever been. The lowest was Invisible Kid (happens to be on St. Anger), which was tuned down to Drop G#.

1984 - I was a jock freshman in high school telling my jock friends about Ride the Lightning.. They thought it was just "noise." By my Junior year, the entire football, baseball and basketball teams were listening to Master of Puppets to work out with.
