And true I did hope too that he would be a much better Drummer after all that free time, but it was a big disappointment. But as I said for Lars standards it was good, compare this to The Thing That Should Not Be from 2019 or something, that was like hard to even listen to, he was really really sloppy. He still ain't perfect, but better than 2019 for sure.

Still the quitar tone and Lars's drum sound were better 30years ago. I have to say IMHO that their best live sound was during Load and Reload '95-'97, and then after Garage Inc. '98-'99.

We can all dream. His backing vocals were insane. Robert is great, but I have to say that Jason's bassplaying itself is also underrated. He was quite amazing, not by any means worse just because he uses a pick. Check his bass audition here on KZbin from the first time he played with the band. The bass is loud and you can here how detailed and perfectly in time (with an out of time band) his playing is... the FIRST time playing with them. I actually think the attack of the pick fits even better with Metallica than finger style playing.
