It was extremely bittersweet filming this knowing it would be the last time I would see this. My wife and daughter have both grown very fond of this place as well. Definitely a huge blow to the local tourism and railroading museums in general Unfortunately the building property is already under-contract with a Hindu worship center who plans to rip all this out. I’m sure it’s possible there could be a last minute save but time is very quickly running out if it would even be possible at this point.

Very sad, and especially seeing so few people there appreciating this amazing display. The time, effort, resources, and craftsmanship devoted towards designing, building, and maintaining this is greatly under appreciated. It’s heartbreaking to realize that most of this will most likely end up in a landfill. The joy and imagination that these types of displays once inspired are anachronistic and has been stunted and diminished by the smart devices that we’re now all addicted to.

It Absolutely is. There already isn’t enough railroad museums/attractions as is these days. This place also would bring many people in who normally would never be exposed to the knowledge of railroads and their important roll in world. EnterTRAINment Junction closing really is dissapointing

Sad to see such great places closing down. As an 80s kid I only vaguely share the fascination for model trains but I highly respect the craftsmanship and dedication that goes into such builds. Also The giftshop and other areas seem to be built very well, something right out of a theme park :)

Thank you for all the years of memories. My wife and I would take our grandchildren to Entertrainment often , as they were growing up. We are so saddened to hear of the closing. We moved from Ohio to Florida 10 years ago , but always made time to visit Entertrainment , when we came back to Ohio. We are praying someone steps up and buys this business. European investors? Entertrainment will be forever remembered for the bonding we developed with our grandchildren and the magical visits we had there. Best of luck in retirement , to the owner , and God bless all involved. 😊

The same scenario happened to Northlandz in NJ. A buyer for the property was so moved by the display, he retired from his work and took over Northlandz. The new blood seems to be able to generate a living from the historical display. TRAINment Jct looks bigger and better. Possibly the new owner of Northlandz will have an idea on how to save this treasure.

Talking with the owner several weeks ago, someone from Las Vegas was buying the trains and moving them to Vegas. According to news, a Hindu group had bought the building for worship. I am the builder of the miniature circus and will be removing it after the 5th of January.

Thanks for this video. Never had a chance to visit this display. The scenery, cities, and all the handiwork is outstanding. Very interesting to see running water as well, since most modelers avoid that facet due to the number of problems associated with actual water, electricity and the increased humidity in such a relatively compact area. Most exquisite layout I have visited is the Miniatur Wunderland in Hamburg, Germany. That is an HO scale layout with much more animation such as fire trucks going to an actual minature fire and putting it out. The space shuttle taking off and landing. Also a 1/87 model of Hamburg airport with actual model planes taxiing in and out and taking off and landing there. Closer to home is the Greeley Freight Station Museum in Greeley, Colorado about 45 miles north of Denver. Another very large and well detailed HO scale model rail layout. It is based mostly on Southern Pacific Railroad in Washington, Oregon, and Northern California in the mid 1970s. Plenty of running trains, most of which are quite long as was the custom of SP. So sorry to hear that this display will soon be just a memory. Too bad the Hindus don't add a worship center to the existing buildings and keep the layout running with admission to help fund their religious interests.

If some charitable millionaire can't buy it for future generations, why not the city? This is much more than a small train display, worlds' largest, but for sure American history. Thank you so much for making such a great video, I had no idea this place even existed, a real pity that it is going away, if this were located in the huge mega mall they built in northern New Jersey I think it would have been a huge success both financially and otherwise. Had I known of it much sooner we would have scheduled a long weekend to drive all the way there just to see it. Truly amazing, I did a small HO set up based entirely on the train and movie studio plus sets of Buster Keaton, crude compared to the genius and work that went into this. Sad first Roadside America is gone now this.

Sadly, this is becoming more and more common. I've seen 4 model train stores in my area come and go. The last one is barely hanging on and recently has had to reduce its operating hours to 3 days a week. A local big chain hobby store has relocated all of its train stuff to a little corner in another part of the store and has reduced its inventory by at least 75%. I got my first train, a Marx O scale #52875, when I was about 5 years old. Later, my dad and I started piecing together a really nice collection of HO stuff. As an adult, I modeled N scale and newer Lionel O scale. I've always had an interest in trains since my dad planted the seed when I was very young. Most kids now days just aren't interested in trains. I'm afraid, old train guys like us are the only ones that spend the money to keep places like this in business, and we're a dying breed.

This place was actually very busy with numerous families and younger and older people alike. It was more of the owner wanting to retire vs downturn in the hobby. I do agree with what you are saying about the hobby shops but this situation is different. Going back to what you said about the hobby shops however, it is a shame how many have closed in the last decade. Really is hard these days to find a good one that hasn’t downsized their trains to a corner of the store

Also, something cool I saw once is at 16:45 there is a building out of frame, I once saw someone walking around the set when I was up there, he lifted up a building, and went below it, if that makes any sense. That was one of the access points to get on and off the layout, they hid it pretty well.

Best outcome. Owner needs a tax write off. Civic group creates non profit to receive property as a donation. Owner would reap 20 to 40 % of the donated price as yearly tax deduction for it wipes out $100,000s of income. If the owner hasn't that kind of income, then take in other family as partners and let them take part of loss. Best use of facilities - training center for youth biz. Several yrs of school 5th to 12th take different tasks over school semesters or year, with if lots of kids, several sharing ea task together or in turn. In addition to current uses add in event space aggressively pargetd by kids to local biz leaders, churches, wedding planners, civic groups, school, sports groups. See if there is a catering biz looking to upgrade to larger digs, or their first real out of home location, the use concession space also providing concession and food for those booking space.
