Company of Heroes 2(a game with a pretty unforgivable amount of DLC) has a DLC campaign mode that costs $40, the price of the game itself. Not an expansion, not a stand-alone, no new features added. It's just a campaign. Oh yeah, and you still have to pay $20 to play as the American and Oberkommando forces in skirmish.

When you consider the fact that in the game, if you complete some challenge or another, you get a wooden sword. And yet, we had to pay for the more useful and cool weapon.

It doesn't look good for a reviewer though to rant about it and then not do the inconvenient but consequential thing and boycott it. The big influence of a reviewer with many subscribers comes not only with benefits, but also responsibilities. Very cute, 4A Games. As soon as games had the ability to incorporate DLC, fighting games made alternate costumes/characters paid DLC instead of giving it as a reward for completing challenges in the game. Now we have these assholes doing it to difficulty modes in the game. Fuck it, I'm un-retiring all my old consoles if this is the future. I still have a bunch of PS2 and GameCube titles that I need to complete anyways, I might as well do that instead of getting all these new games, that way, I know the game is complete. DLC thankfully doesn't exist on older games, back then you either had to release the complete game or fuck off.

There are rare occurrences; sometimes the ones that are caught are made examples of. Generally, a cease and desist letter will be sent and any contracts you have violated will be revoked. However, there are a few pirates who are extradited from whatever country they hail from and are persecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I know this was posted a while ago, but your 100% on the button Joe. Pre order and get some post cards and a key ring is cool. But for the average person like me that has to budget on living, I can't always fork out the 60 bucks on the day of release, sometimes I have to wait till I can afford it, no matter how bad I want it - this concept of removing actually parts of the game that I assume I'm paying for is just disgusting. I'm a huge metro fan, after finishing the first game I loved it that much I bought the book and read it in two days. This bulls**t really f**ks me off. Kudos for the honest review, keep it coming - publishers and retails shouldn't control the game industry, gamers should and taking a stand is the first step for getting what we want. metro 2033 redux is a good thing because they remake it using the new engine and it looks way way way better,effects,gameplay and res.LL redux is just a cash in.

In my opinion I believe they are worth it. Metro 2033 Redux is worth it because of the upgrades to game mechanics (such as stealth and gunplay) which existed in Last Light but were developed after 2033. Last Light might be a cash in. I still got the game because of the optimizations made to the code which allows it to run smoothly on minimum settings on my laptop. I know laptops are meh but still its nice to be able to play a game as stellar as 2033 and Last Light on something which should not technically be able to run it. Like at all. So TL:DR - the 2033 redux is worth because of the game mechanic upgrades and inclusions that were developed for Last Light after the developers learned some lessons from Last Light. Last Light redux is worth because it brings a new demographic into the Metro fold - namely more "casual" gamers, whatever that means, who might not have access to a high end system.

Not to mention the ranger mode is just straight up bad. It hides crucial information. In the regular mode that information is fed to you, in ranger you'd exspect you'd have to figure it out on your own and that's what I exspected. Instead it stops feeding you the info AND does not provide you with a way for you to check it yourself, say air filters and ammunition. You cannot manually check ammo or airfilters. That's dumb.

The air filter time is actually shown on your watch, and most weapons have visible ammo counts via either see-through magazines or visible ammo. I prefer not having a magical ammo count at the bottom of the screen, it makes the game more immersive. I played through both games on ranger difficulty, and I loved ever second of it.

It's the principle of the fact. It is a mode that has been in games for as long as difficulty options have been given to us and it was always free. It would be like taking away the option to change your control configuration in a game and then making it DLC and labeling it something like this, "Make the game your own and play it how you want with customizable controls for $5.00." It's ridiculous. The great days of gaming are truly behind us when stuff like this starts showing up.

Not at all. Lending a game to a friend implicates that only one copy is being used. Piracy does not. Piracy is the unauthorized replication of something copyrighted. It's more than just lending it to a friend or selling it a yard sale well below market price. What you just compared was selling/giving a single game or selling/giving multiple copies of the game. They aren't the same. Unless you care to elaborate.

Look at it like this. When you rent a game, the video store has purchased the original copy new, therefor the developer sees profit and then the game is rented out until it no longer works (over use, scratched, whatever.) Piracy is the same concept except instead of going to the store and paying for a rental (of which the developer sees none of the money) you just stay home and download it. That is why it's the same as buying used or renting. Two policies that devs SUPPORTED until recently.

Ever since big corporations saw the money in video games and took over most of the publishing companies, video games have been falling prey to their greed just like when big corporations took over music record labels in the 80s. Things are only going to get progressively worse. Publishers will continue to see how far they can push the boundaries, how much they can nickel and dime from us, how much content they can withhold from a game to sell back to us as DLC. They'll continue to do this more and more, until we start telling them how we feel about it with our wallets.

Long story short,it means he can't say/show anything from the actual game until the publisher says it's okay.That's generally around/after the release day for the game. For example,millions follow AJ. If he says this game is shit,before it even comes out,and those millions of people won't buy the game,thats a big loss of money for them.To prevent this,he is under embargo.He got the game early,but he can't give away anything about it.

the right way to do it is to include things that arent even in the game. manufacture real world items. like the titanfall helmet, or the assassins creed necklace. these things will actually remind people that the game exists months or years down the line. and might spark interest in the game again.

I know this video is incredibly old now but I remember Ace Combat 6 for the 360. It also had a difficulty you had to pay for which was "Ace of Aces" difficulty. BUT this was AFTER all the modes that were in every other Ace Combat. You already get Novice, Easy, Normal, Hard, Expert AND ace mode. Ace of Aces was a difficulty that was intended to be an instant death, super hard, legendary++ mode for the super hardcore enthusiasts, And it wasn't a pre-order thing, it was thought up after the game has been out for a long time. If you're going to charge for a "mode" I think that's how you should do it.

I did pre-order it because I was going to anyway, but I totally agree with this Rant and Deep Silver lost big points in that I haven't pre-ordered a few other games from them, like Saints IV... I'll buy that one on sale. The thing is... It's worse. The Ranger - Hard mode is broke, anyway.. There is NO way to count ammo, or check your grenade inventory in Ranger mode... NONE at all. You can't even be sure what throwable you have in hand till you toss it.

This has nothing to do with Deep Silver, this was a publishing deal leftover from their time at THQ. THQ had already made these promises for preorders, so they couldn't rescind this offer without risking losing any preorders they already had.

Got Metro Redux for XBox One. Includes both Metro 2033 and Last Light, with all the dlc and ranger mode for both games. Only $30 brand-new at Gamestop. I'm glad I waited all those years
