One of the details I love about the visors is that depending on the one you're using, your HP will layout will change with the visor such as the X-ray visor being round, your HP curves around the new layout of the visor. Such a nice little detail

On the Space Pirate designs, I'm pretty sure that it's implied that they all are one species, but are completely willing to mutate and change themselves to fit with environment. (Of course this is just some bullshit to explain why zebetian Space Pirates look one way, and why Metroid Prime pirates look another, even between different entries within Prime to an extent. But it is some fun bullshit, as it heavily characterises them as so thirsty for conquest they would alter themselves to be unrecognizable from a base appearance for an advantage)

Slight Correction: The Omega Metroid has the same head as the Zeta Metroid, the only difference between the two, easily more visible in Samus Returns, is Omega Metroids have a chitinous plate over the core on the torso, unlike Zeta Metroids.

The gyro drift yoy have with your joycon is probably not a problem with your joycon. The switch at the os level has auto-recalibration system that tries to reorient the camera/cursor when it thinks it detects drift. It's not as sophisticated as steam's system where it detects whether or not the controller is completely stationary before fixing drift, and so small and subtle movements are considered as drift. Actual gyro drift is a lot like joystick drift where it's a continuous movement in a direction, but what happens on switch is that the camera will move a bit and stops. This problem also exists on playstation too.

Ironically, or maybe not, depending on your perspective on it, Metroid Prime wasn't even remotely hated on release, ironic since Metroid Fusion released the day after, and was absolutely panned by the fans at launch for the simple act of being linear. And even I am baffled as to why people hated Fusion because the game is actually good.

28:55 i think they actually might have called them 'the ruins' the chozo's whole deal was to settle down on a world and strip themselves of all the technology based strife that had plagued their race for (in their opinion) too long. so they used the plant life and other manipulations to work their civilization into the area around them, as evidenced by the bridge made of two wooden roots holding several stones in place. they could be literal ruins, or metaphorical ruins of their previous civiliation heck the name might even be intentionally ironic... since we have no surviving examples of chozo humor, its quite hard to say

So when I learned the Plasma beam just kinda removes them from existence, woo boy, I had found my new favorite beam in Prime 1. also allowed me to get a good enjoyment in Prime 1, which I don't think is AS bad, but still has it's flaws compared to later Prime games

My theory on the red phazon: The leviathans are meant to produce enough phazon to cover a whole planet, then release more into the galaxy. The chozo containing the leviathan and its phazon forced it to "compress" on itself, mutating the phazon into the more physically deadly red variant. In prime 3, it is revealed that phazon itself is semi sentient. I believe the phazon was empowering itself to try and break out of the cipher. Given an endless amount or room to expand, the phazon can focus on spreading instead of escape.

I recently got into GameCube gaming due to Modern gaming feeling very boring to me. Unfortunately I have a disability that prevents me from using my left side all too well and a lot of controllers just make my hands feel uncomfortable so I've been a PlayStation type of guy for a long time- but recently just bought a blade GC from retro Fighters so I could finally play some of my Wii and my GameCube games. And the first game I would like to complete will be Spyro a hero's tail and then I'm going to try completing Metroid Prime for the GameCube. So in my journey to complete my entire physical collection of GameCube and Wii games I'm hoping to be able to finally play them with somewhat efficiency. I'm slowly becoming a Nintendo fan over time in my old age and I really wanted to say thank you for this amazing video. This was the perfect video to listen to while doing my workout and setting up my modded gaming setup for my new Journey😅

actually on your point on the stellarium, yes the fucked up orbits of those planets COULD suggest exoplanets, especially with how varied they are and possibly why so many are uninhabitable with a ig ring of debris so close to the star, i.e. survivors of a clash of planets

Also,I always liked the original animation upon obtaining the Phazon Suit because of what it meant for Samus. It wasn't an ordinary upgrade like every other item before it. Samus nearly got crushed by the Omega Pirate and consumed by the Phazon it released upon death. I always saw that original animation as her just barely managing to integrate that into her suit,without being corrupted by it. That's how I felt,anyway.

This reminds me a lot of the Doom franchise when 2016 and onwards came out since at that point the creators put more effort into the puzzles from then on, makes me think that maybe they took some inspiration from Metroid Prime since the two games have always been pretty similar with monsters infesting a space stations and you being some bad ass hero in big ass armor to match ready to be a one person army to clear it.
