If you wanted a purpose to Metroid the other M, it would be to further explore Samus’s connection to the Galactic Federation, their corruption, and her relationship with Adam. During the Prime series, you work for, and with, a seemingly good Galactic Federation. We get to fight among them and scan the audio logs of the dead troopers, solidifying your connection to them. However, Other M sets up our suspicion of the Galactic Federation, showing us that there might be top down corruption from the inside. Everything from the rouge assassin killing off the team one by one, to the use of your suit to creat a new Metroid, helps set the seed of distrust in the back of our head. Going into Metroid Fusion after Other M makes the game feel even more ominous than it already did. At least in my hyped opinion. 👍

It is also possible that she keeps some of her old ships at her home, since the Prime 2 ship (Which I call ol' reliable) is the same one as 2, Super, Other M, and beginning of Fusion. She may switch out ships depending on the situation.

As I have mentioned on some of the comments and social media, there wasn't an update to the Metroid timeline until very recently via the SNES classic, which does confirm what you say. So yes error on my part However, I made a video on why i feel Hunter's plot fits a bit better between Prime 2 and 3 (especially if Sylux is the antagonist of Prime 4) Its all personal opinion, but wanted to mention it in case you were curious. This is the first video on youtube that I have found that agrees with the scans I have found on Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2.... Most people make it in a different order and I have found scans that disprove those timeline theories.... But this I can say, actually agrees with all of the scans and other lore I have found within the series

The Orpheon a wait I found something in Prime 2 Echoes Echoes Look at this scan Logbook/Lore/Trooper Logs/Force One/PFC I. Crany This shows Super Metroid is before Echoes It in a Federation Marines log about Samus blowing up the planet Zebes.... That didn't happen until Super Metroid... In Metroid NES/Zero Mission only the base was blown up.... The scans make the timeline so hard to figure out... So does that scan mean the it is Metroid NES Metroid Prime (Zebes is still a planet and scans in panora drifts say that the base is being built back after Samus destroyed it the first time... And also we find that meta ridley was ridley from before but with mechanical upgrades, it said the process was very painful, I think that was in the phazon mines) Then metroid II return of Samus (the baby Metroid) The Super Metroid (the events with the baby) Then other M (the baby Metroid and just after Super Metroid) Then Metroid Prime 2 Echoes (the proof is in that scan Search the logbook for: Logbook/Lore/Trooper Logs/Force One/PFC I. Crany) Metroid Prime 3 Corruption (the events with Dark Samus) Then Metroid Fusion Also I don't have any of the spin off games (Prime Hunters, Federation Force, Pinball)

That is a very interesting discovery! but the scan itself, seems a bit contradictory. It first says : "-some bounty hunter and how she blew up a planet full of Space Pirates." But later it states: "-I just find it hard to believe that one person took out an entire Space Pirate base, that's all" So it could perhaps be interpreted either way, maybe the planet was an exaggeration of the story (it feels like the Feds has some camp fire stories) to make Samus sound all the more treating amongst their members We also have to think that its never clear if the logs exclusively focus on lore from previous games (even though it seems very likely)

My reasoning for why the Prime Trilogy occurs one after the other was that, from a logical stand point (of sorts) With Mother Brain gone the pirates couldn't control the Metroids to hold the universe hostage, and so they (or another of their factions) set focus on harnessing Phazon to be used as weapons. Their research on Orpheon (the station) Phazon Mines and their labs in Aether where all tests until they created the PED technology (with help of Dark Samus) by the time they were ready to set a war with the Federation in MP3. Once Samus destroys Phaze, the Pirates are forced (in a way) into retreat/hiding, and thus the Feds changed their efforts into destroying the Metroid to avoid the Pirates from finding another way to use them. While all this happened, they were forced back into their main plan and hide to rebuilding Tourain and Mother Brain, perhaps during the events of Metroid 2 or the Prime Trilogy. But as many other things, its simply a theory.

My headcanon since the release of Samus returns is prime 3 is set after super because in sr388 there appear to be seeds wrapped in vines in area 5, and they look eerily similar to Phazon. Small thing but I think it all just flows better.

I have a theory. I think they’re trying to connect Prime 3, Federation Force (whether you like it or not) and Samus Returns with Prime 4. Makes sense, since at the end of both Prime 3 AND Federation Force there’s an easter egg about Sylux. It’d be a perfect connection, that then continues to Samus Returns and so on.

I have reasons to believe that Prime 4 might not be connected (directly) with Samus Returns not because of timeline issues, but because of separate Producers being in-charge of each game, and each wanting to develop their own stories (Sakamoto being the classic games, Tanabe being the Prime saga)

I am currently playing Metroid Prime and there is a pirate log just before getting the thermal visor where it says that Ridley got its enhancements (ASA Meta Ridley) after being defeated on Zebes... So this means Prime happens after Super Metroid, or is there a backstory that I am missing?

The battle of Zebes that the scan is referring to is the battle on the original Metroid (Zero Mission) and not Super Metroid. The Prime saga (as of this comment’s writing) takes place after Metroid Zero Mission but before Metroid 2 (Samus Returns) We can confirm this because in the same outpost where you find the Thermal Visor, you unlock a map that still showcases Zebes in orbit. The same happens later in Prime 3 with Skytown’s probes, one mentioning planet Zebes, which indicates the planet has NOT been destroyed yet, therefore taking place before Super. Additionally, Samus Returns helps bridge the gap with Proteus Ridley, who is shown to have been recovering his natural flesh and getting rid of its metal prosthetics from Prime 3.

I always envisioned the series as 3 different Sagas. Perhaps if Prime 4 has a bigger focus on the Hunters it could be form a new saga on its own

After watching the Video i checked the Metroid wiki. It stated that Metroid other M is part of the main plot and that Metroid Prime Hunters is before Metroid prime 2.

Prime hunters happens between Prime 1 and 2, not 2 and 3. Why? Samus in Hunters uses Prime 2 Varia and Prime 1 Gunship.

I know I'm late, but I'm kinda hopnig in Metroid Prime 4 that Samus is an antagonist of sorts, and would be a direct sequel to Fusion. Considering, y'know, that she blew up the station in Fusion against the Federation's wishes.Federation wouldn't be too happy and likely puts a bounty on the hunter.

2:57 OK so this has absolutely nothing to do with the video but I couldn’t find anywhere else to say this so I’m gonna say it here. Why did the entirety of Zebes end up blowing up in the first place? I mean I know Mother Brain initiated a chain reaction to blow the whole planet up but when you think about it, Tourian is really just one small area on this big planet. I really don’t think she would have enough power to generate an explosion that big. Also, why did the developers decide to bring the Samus back to Zebes? Of course I don’t really mind that they did that but I’m just curious to why they decided to do it.

I like how its subtly hinted at you of the meteor being like the one from Tallon IV, without being in your face as a fact. I enjoyed the Prime games for leaving some things open to the player's to discover

I really do think so! I would be more than interesting to see where the story continues after Metroid Fusion. But even then Federation Force had a small cliffhanger ending after its credits that could be connected to the ending in Corruption. Lets hope the Nintendo Switch brings new life to the series!

The developer of Prime 4 confirmed that Prime isn't canon, not sure if this applies because I don't know much about Metroid Prime and it definitely should be canon but I don't know.

I love this. I’m trying to figure out a way to replay Zero Mission and Fusion, But I don’t have my GBA anymore. We have a Wii and a Switch, but Wii U was the console that has those games in its store. No others. So, I’m pretty much just going to have to wait for Dread.

I didn't forget Zero Mission, the game is just a remake of the first NES Metroid, it why you can unlock the original game in ZM after beating it on hard.

+The Thunder Squad yes Ridley is so far the closest thing we have seen to a leader from the pirates. Mother Brain commanded them in the first game and Super Metroid, since she formed an alliance with Ridley and is in control of the Metroids

One question. In every video that I've seen of the Metroid Timeline, nobody tells something about the prologue of Metroid: Zero Mission, where you go with Zero Suit and discover a little bit of background from Samus from the Chozo and you kill some sort of 'Meta Ridley'. Is this part of the story useless or non-canon or something like that? If you mentioned in the video and didn't realize I am sorry.

Metroid don't drain life energy, they drain electricity, the brain is full of electricity so they attach to the head, and they drain electricity from the suit, that's why the suit glitches in prime
