If the Mets lose, I don't want anyone to say, "same old Mets." Because Jolly is right, it's incredibly difficult to get this far into the playoffs. The "same old" Mets would never have gotten this far. Not every good season ends with a trophy, some of them end when you're only a top-4 team, and that's still something to be proud of.

I still think it's crazy that Jerry said in the preview for this series that the Mets were better on paper. Full disclosure: I'm a Dodger fan, so definitely wearing rose-colored glasses, but these are not equal offenses or bullpens by a long shot. The bottom of the Mets order is fairly manageable to handle; there is no rest in the Dodger lineup. They will grind pitchers down, take pitches, foul stuff off, so even if you get guys out, they are wearing you down. The Mets bullpen - outside of the back couple of guys - are pretty average. The one advantage for the Mets was the rotation, but they rely on clipping the corners, and that doesn't work against this Dodger lineup. I called Dodgers in 5 (though I was expecting the loss to come in NY), and nothing about the results so far surprise me. Maybe the Mets figure it out tonight, but good luck keeping the Dodgers down.

Sometimes rides do come to and end. As much as I have loved what guys like Igelsias have done to help get them to Game 5 of the NLCS, you have to say the ride is ending. OMG was nice but I think we are seeing now what the scouts were seeing about him in the spring. I'm not blaming him for anything. The one thing that you will see is David Stearns learning just what he has to do to improve this team for next year and beyond. Don't be shocked if they let Alonso walk and move Vientos to first and sign Bregman to play 3rd. Watch the outfield be remade as well as the pitching staff. It was fun but as much of a Met fan as I am, the reality is, they are the 6th seed up against the #1 seed in the League Championship Series. The fact MLB has expanded the playoffs the way they have, shows what a difference there is in talent between a #1 seed and a #6 seed.

In this series and pretty much throughout with the season with the Mets, they play the same style of all or nothing ball. They don't really have the bats that can turn it on at will (clutch) This team is very much like the 99-2000 team except that the relief is more suspect and the bats are not as savvy or clutch. Lindor Iglesias and a few others pretty much held it together for the duration. I said from before with the comparisons and interleague play, that who ever wins from here. will win it all. This dodger team is a buzz saw. The Mets were not off that long that they lost their mojo. They rode the hot streak for as long as they could, but the dodgers are a team that can turn it on when they need to. This team is deep. My hope is that the Mets take it still yet, or at the least take it to 7 games. I feel its pretty much over though and hopefully the management doesn't ruin what's there with bad decisions. They are an incredible team, but I think the gas tank is running on empty. However be it... Let's Go Mets!
