I had two sons. My youngest had mental issue, and behavioral issues early on in his life. He was an addict and an alcoholic who refused systematically to get help. He died from his own hand in 2011. My oldest one is now 40, smart, responsible, keeps a job, is respectful towards others and is, all in all, a wonderful human being. I didn't cuddle my youngest more than my first so I would refrain from accusing the parents without knowing everything, they probably did their best, like everyone else. This young man could have bipolar disorder or another form of personality disorder. Those are extremely difficult to diagnose and treat.

In 2017, when Marius was 20 years old, Mette Marit wrote an open letter to the Norwegian press that was published in many papers. There she asked the press to leave Marius alone, he was not a royal, not a public person and they should let him live his life without it being written about. The Norwegian press respected this until "everything happened" this year, although it turns out they knew about his partying and what sort of people he was friends with... In this letter she also wrote that she thought teachers had expected more from Marius than from other children. TeacherS so in plural, so more than one teacher must have said something about his behavior... She also wrote that parents of other children expected more of him than of other children, and that said parents had contacted her with suggestions and advice... If someone as a parent gets this sort of feedback from several different people, they should take it serious and look for professional advice... Instead Mette Marit seems to have taken the position that everyone is unfair to them as a family and to her wonderful boy... As a Norwegian teacher myself I was shocked in 2017 when I read this for the first time. And I am still shocked that the Princess of the Crown would portray Norwegian teachers as unfair. 😯 Norwegian teachers have long education, there are no shortcuts to get a permanent job as a teacher in this country. And I think the school that was to have contact with the royal family would probably pick their best teachers to work with that class... Also, as a teacher it's not "pleasant" to be the messanger of bad news, one doesn't do that unless it's necessary... And it means a lot of extra work, meetings, reports, follow ups, working together with therapists, psykologists... Based on this letter, it seems like there were signs that something was off with Marius' behavior already early in his life... So I agree with Brittany in that Mette Marit probably didn't handle his upbringing the best way. I think there is a lesson to be learned here not only for royals, but also for many parents... 🤔 The letter I'm talking about can still be found online.

Thank you for this info. That is another parallel between Marius and my cuckoo brother: he had issues at school too... He himself once said that he didn't see the point of going to school. Our family was not famous, and noone from the press would be interested to write about my cuckoo brother. Our biological mother would never write to the press, she could not write nor read. However, to blame the press or teachers... the issues are elsewhere, because how comes that there are similarities between the family I grew up in (that definitely never got involved with the press), and the family of the Crown Prins of Norway?

Brittany, the NRK also reported that Marius moved into the home near his parents in 2022. It also stated that Haakon still has lots of support based on his work as heir and also stepping up as regent. Finally, many families around the world have bad apples so to speak, it doesn't necessarily mean that the other children also have bad behavior and at the end of the day Marius made those choices not his parents, and we are all wired differently.
@RoyalNewsNetworkКүн бұрын
While that is true, parenting cannot entirely be removed from the scenario either, in the vast, vast majority of cases. He grew up in their house, so whether it was being spoiled or indulged or other issues, this is not isolated situation but clearly a pattern of behavior that probably goes back years. And his parents were aware for years and likely covered up for his behavior, which is probably why, in part, he moved home. It reflects badly on the Crown Princely couple and time will tell if Marius is an outlier or sign of more difficulties to come. Hopefully, that’s not the case but it’s entirely possible. Thanks for watching!!

I am a mental health social worker and I work directly with patients who are coping with substance abuse issues and psychiatric diagnosis’. In my opinion , the problem with serving time in prison, is that he would be interacting and socializing with other people who have anti-social behaviours (the very people/groups that the monarchy want him detached from) He would form attachments and/or connections, over the course of his stay in detention, with these groups, which may hamper any opportunity at rehabilitation and recovery. This is a much more complicated and intensive situation than it appears on the surface. As well, in my personal opinion, Marius sounds too unwell at the moment to secure a job, let alone try to meet his own daily needs. He requires clinical outpatient intervention to, at the very least, stabilize him … and then, following that, move forward to address the harms he committed unto others. Again, it’s more complex than it appears on the surface. Everything in this post is my opinion. I am not saying that Marius has any medical diagnosis’s. But I do hope he receives the care that he is entitled to.

Marius is an adult. When your adult child commits a crime you won’t be informed about it, unless the child gives concent to inform you. So the probable reason the Royal press office isn’t giving any details is because they don’t have them. And if they did, why on earth should Mette Marit inform the press? Marius isn’t a Royal and I bet she finds it shameful as well. Put yourself in her shoes! And stop blaming parents for the behavior of their children! You can only do your best and still a child can go off the rails! Going against all your education and morals. That’s sickening for the parents too.

Thx Brittany, good video. It could be anything causing or contributing to his condition. Trauma, genetics etc.. But, the behaviour continues bc there are zero expectations from his parents, and their continued funding of him, a man in his early twenties, means there is no reason for him to change. Mum cleans his house? Parents pay for house, food, travel, vehicle, clothing, lawyers, bail etc. why should he change. If they made a clear expectation with a consequence he will not like ( eg, more crimes= not paying for vehicle) he might make some changes. 😢But follow through is a must if he continues to commit crimes. I’m sure it would hurt a lot to enact the consequence on your child, but he will have an incentive to stop. Him having to work in some capacity, ( outdoor chores, maintain vehicles) would develop his self confidence, and fill his time usefully. Or, nothing will change. No case is black or white and all are difficult and painful.

Because her son lived in the recomposed family of the Crown Prince of Norway, and her (cuckoo)son has younger half siblings, this story reminds me of the family I grew up in. In our family too, there was a cuckoo brother who was son of our biological mother with another father. And the cuckoo brother lived with us, in our family. I was his older sister while all my other siblings were younger as him. He has many other siblings from his biological father side, but he was raised in our family, close to the mother (same as Marius being raised in the Crown Prince family, close to his mum) and our father was the provider of the family. The cuckoo brother got addicted to alcohol (yes, another parallel here) and to religion. The rumour is that my cuckoo brother also got involved in assaults... He has kids from 2 marriages, that broke up and till now, more than half a century later, the cuckoo brothers' life is still unbalanced. (O yes, having been through so many life experiences and issues, I really didnt want to become a mother myself)

It is good the women are coming forward or he’ll keep doing it. And the Crown Prince & Princess knew??!! Do you think they’ll leave the throne for this crime and their involvement? Thanks for the update, Brittany.

Marius is actually a young version of Mette-Maarit. She came from a middle-class family and mingled with the Norwegian jet set. She had several overlapping relationships. The next guy was always wealthier with more prestige. She was engaged to a guy and dumped him for his best friend and became very quickly pregnant. I personally believe that Marius's dad was the love of M-M's life. I think she settled for Haakon. I also think that Marius is her favorite child. M-M had cirka ten years ago an American millionaire lover. She works very little, claims the she is afraid of flying but has no problems to take flights for her several vacations. Now the Norwegian Royal family is paying the prize for Haakon's decision. Haakon was a nerdy boy who wanted the though and cool kid of the class. Sorry for my negative post, but I knew when they marries that he had made a huge mistake. I have doubtef my opinions during the years, but every now and then I've read gossip of M-M that has confirmed my stance.

@@nomennescio2095 interesting this info. There is also something mentioned on her wikipage, refering to her firstborn as a symbol for their unusual choice for mariage... This sounds a little over the top isn't it? As if her firstborn got burdened by something. Would there never be any crownprince wedding if she wasn't a mother? Shakespeare would have created an interesting play with those characters.

Why would he not have problems ? He has been the unimportant one with no title. He is angry, feels alone, resentful, jealous.. This all has been building up for YEARS. This is the result of all his feelings. He has been dealing with it by lashing out, making horrible decisions, getting attention anywich way he can. Really don't know WHY this poor kid would be well adjusted. He can't. Not possible

He is potentially guilty for SA. I say potentially, as it is under investigation by police. Nothing, and I mean nothing, excuse that. There are people who have had even harder life than him, and they don't do crimes. He is an adult and not a victim.

Mette-Marit is low class. The Norwegian monarchy must be abolished.

If Mette-Marit was not “low class” would that make a difference to your view on the monarchy?

I wouldn't say low class. But she was party girl with sketchy friends. Far from blue blood.

WOW! ls he supposed to be the heir? l hope not, as it would be devastating to Norway, the current king, AND to Marius to have to step into that role if God forbid the king died. l DO NOT think Marius could do it. l have had experience with addiction and the last thing an active addict can do is to _be responsible._ ln active addiction you are thinking about the drug _even when you dont want to._ lt can take years to get better. The WORST PART is that this is Marius's secondary worry! lf he's beating on, raping, or being violent to people _???_ He can never be king. Especially if he's going to go to jail for something so dangerous. He's in Prince Andrew's situation times five, as he is still ACTIVE. _YIKES!_ Thanks Brittany.

Sounds a lot like Andrew & Harry. Monarchy are pushing their existence.
