At some point, Matt'll put up footage of him driving the simulator and giant crane up on his channel. But in the meantime, we're on a cold park bench in Lappeenranta, the evening after visiting Mevea, and still a little overwhelmed by what we just got to drive! -- Tom

Surprised there are no "hey I know that bench!" comments considering how we Finns seem to have a habit of finding any and all Finland-related videos. wide to narrow is mostly computer work now. no feel required, unfortunatley. the 4 to 2 engine is mostly opinion and preference. i like the 4 engine more, if 1 fails.. you still have 3 morr, in stead of 1. but what handling says, it just 2 more trust handlers. it only affects in weight and aerodynamics, in such a way, that the feel should be right around the same. or at least that is my opion having around 2k hours on fsx

I really like the park bench idea, to give us background and random information and thoughts that would detract from the focus of the main video. I'm amused that this one is 3.3 times as long as the one on the simulator. I'm glad that Matt got to play with the toys, too!

Looking at the legs and the supports for the backrest, I'd say it's some kind of predatory tree pretending to be a bench. If a single person sits on it, or a small to medium sized animal, the "planks" close up, trap them, and start the digestive process.

I study computer science at LUT (Lappeenranta University of Technology) and it just blows my mind that you actually visited us here! The thing about the education being in english is true, excluding most of the first- and second year courses which are in Finnish. Also the prononciation of "Lappeenranta" was pretty spot on, but you have to hold the "ee" a bit longer. Cheers from Skinnarila.

So THAT'S why they always look weird on-camera. Though I expect they're not head-tracking because of the whole two-man cockpit thing. Unless they use 3D screens that have the "left eye" and "right eye" tracking independently and each pilot wears glasses with a single type of polarised glass in suited to one or the other...

Finnish is a reaaally weird language. Fifteen noun cases instead of prepositions. It's a Uralic language, which means it's not Indo-European and is only related to Estonian and to some extent Hungarian (as well as the Sámi languages). There's a reason they're always the "exception" when people talk about the Nordic Countries.
@gustavhl7684
@gustavhl7684 9 жыл бұрын
+RKH1502 It is also related to Karelian, Livonian(extinct), Veps, Votic, Khanty, Mansi, Mari, Erzya, Moksha, Komi, Udmurt, and the samoyedic languages (Enets, Nenets, Nganasan, Selkup which are living, and Kamassian, Mator and Yurats which are extinct). Oh and if you though 15 cases was bad, then try Komi, with some dialects having as mach as 27 noun cases.

Our school group (Mechanical engineering) had a tour in that same factory where you visited about two months ago. We managed to see the pouring of the molten steel. The size of the melting machinery and the fact that the whole thing tilts was really amazing. Sparks flying everywhere and the heat coming through the safety glass really gave image to how the steel is made. Hope you guys enjoyed Lappeenranta. I'm kinda sad that I found out about your visit now. Would have loved to come by and just say hi and thank you for these videos. They make huge full size simulators for American and Canadian trains, and I am not talking Microsoft train sim. Though all you get is the control stand, seat (since a trained engineer knows what the train is doing by seat of their pants), and view out the front window. Who you would contact to get access to one, I am not sure. I doubt my company would let outsiders use theirs.

This language issue reminds me of a long distance hike in the rainy middle of nowhere, Norway. On a very narrow path winding between a river with rapids and a cliff, suddenly a "Danger !" spray painted sign with appeared, with a few words in Norwegian under it. Well, I still don't know what the danger was, but I'm alive to tell the story, so I guess I didn't wake up the dragon, or the troll were already full or something else.
