The town of Altar, Sonora, is the last stop for thousands of migrants who plan to illegally cross the border that separates Mexico and the United States in search of a better life. Here, the economy revolves around migration. Along its streets we can find everything from special slippers to avoid detection by motion sensors installed in the Arizona desert, camouflage clothing to avoid being spotted by Border Patrol agents, backpacks, gloves, and even contraceptives for the women - as it is estimated that 80 percent of them will be raped during their journey.
We wanted to know how difficult this crossing is for the migrants. It involves walking across the desert for days on end, abuse at the hands of human traffickers, and being hunted by Border Patrol agents. VICE news visited the Sasabe desert, between Sonora and Arizona, which registers temperatures of up to 120 degrees during the day and drops below 30 degrees at night. In this hellhole, the migrants may run into Father Prisciliano Peraza, a cowboy who apart from delivering mass, also travels through the desert in his pickup truck, dropping off supplies to those attempting to cross the border - to help them avoid meeting their death during the attempt.

Which border ? Most crossed 5 or more borders before America’s. ? Sorry not sorry. Stay home - VOTE- rebuild.. If all people just run away like cowards then the rulers will never be contained. As they’ve already won. Lebanon and Hong Kong got it right. They stopped going to work generating the tax money to pay the corrupt government... last night the Lebanese president resigned. THAT IS HOW STRONG PEOPLE do shit. Cowards run away and cry victim after breaking laws.

I don't understand why do Americans complain always, all the time, too much... just stop complaining! The US is not your country, is not your land! Have you asked the Native Americans the permission to rob their land gentlemen? Did you come to the US with your Green card and American ID or you settled without asked anything to anyone? Without requesting permission, isn't it?! Latinos are doing exactly the same thing you did a long time ago with the native Americans, even better than you because they don't kill people, however, they are killed, as in the time of Buffalo Bill, so please, stop complaining.

***** Immigrants come to live in a land that is not yours, of course, I don't know why you deny it! Mexico has more resources than the US but the US uses & steals Mexico. Mexico should enjoy the benefits of the "North American Free Trade Agreement" (NAFTA or ALENA) signed like 20 years ago with the US and Canada. But the reality is that Mexico has become a failed state because of it... Good tactic Yankees & you try to do the same in Europe, except that you will eat it by your asshole.. The central and local governments are inefficient and often corrupt, inequalities have exploded and the ubiquitous gangs kill something like 2000 people every month, worth than in Irak & Afghanistan, like a econimic war. The Mexican must immigrate to the country that steals them, meeting death at the border, in the desert, under the blows of the US national Guard & Mexican and American drug traffickers. Nafta contributes to impoverish Mexican people and nothing more ...Your country MUST STOP. Oh and it's not a point but a fact.

The US Constitution MUST be changed to set standards for immigration policy. A path to legal citizenship requirements to include working and paying US taxes for 5 years tracked by temp. assigned Id numbers to work in the US being tracked to pay tax, no crimes committed in that time period, test for English proficiency standard to ensure acclimation for success and take an oath of allegiance to America. NO social benefits during this time period especially paying hospital bills for birth/maternity labor for folks that are illegal. Every country has standards for admittance to immigrate! I see indigent aliens playing the heart strings then they pull out a pocket full of hundred dollar bills! I have asked them if they wanted me to hold taxes out and they always say over and over no taxes just cash. Who is being exploited? The Fleecing of America would sum our broken immigration policy up...Why do my taxes keep going UP...I would like to see Mexico pay even half of this on their own citizens.

As a Mexican American I hate to see my people go through all this pain and suffering for a shitty minimum wage job in the us or being discriminated against here, I think instead of crossing the border and risking their lives sometimes even their children's lives Mexicos government should work on itself and being less corrupt, instead of just dropping their problems on the US

Corrupting is way over exaggeration, poor Mexicans have a lot of rights, but for some undereducated and unskilled wages are low, so thats why "'SOME"' go to the U.S. to make more money, send it home and many hoping to return and open there toco stand, there not running away from Mexico, all this people would rather stay in Mexico, it's all economic, Im an American and I love Mexico, but I have the economic means, were the hell can you rent a beautiful 3 bedroom apartment with a walkin closet on the beach, I can see the water and hear the waves, for 900 a month? not the U.S. that's why Mexico is being invaded by Americans looking for low rents

I could not agree more with that father ! Only way to be able to solve the immigration issue we must use our brains and open our hearts and listen to those who make this most difficult and dangerous journey to the United States. If we as Americans would whole heartedly see immigrants as human beings who are trying to provide for their families as we all are and took the time to listen to why they take the journey to the United States of America and we saw to address the issue so w they would not have leave home to find work in the US. Just maybe this would end but it's up to us all as Americans.

@robertchandler4033
@robertchandler4033 7 жыл бұрын
FENCES COST MONEY...UPKEEP AND REPAIR. 2 No -have you EVER been asked for a passport in the continental U.S. while walking around(it's called freedom of movement and you should guard it more than the 1st or second amendment) 3. I am surely too darn lazy to do real work and the people who need hard workers (myth debunked-lazy Mexicans-not!!) sometimes "FORGET" to check papers at cash paying jobs - they call them "contract labor" and btw illegals pay tax will little hope of representation . I am kinda strange-ultranationalist who wants help from anyone willing to come here and help me CRUSH other countries. Folks YOU NEED TO WAKE UP , we need an ally in this JIHAD that is being waged against us and grateful mexicans who will do the popes bidding are far better than anyone else that we can ask right now-most immigrants are fairly conservative and like FAMILIES -not huge fans of singlemotherhood. Also aren't these short latinas (finally us short guys get a break)with big boobs pretty cute!

I understand that they come to make better lives but a large majority of immigrants I know are on alot of government aid and don't honestly work. We need to close our borders,bring jobs back from over seas and fix this healthcare mess. Untill we fix the US we can't afford to help out anymore. We're struggling as is. Mexico needs to start caring for her people. Untill the US is back on it's feet we really shouldn't be helping illegals or getting into wars we have no business in.

All this for a kid that doesn't hear English in the home and has to have educational educational dollars spent to teach him/her the language of the land his parents invaded. I've sat here for a solid hour reading a lot of discussions(arguments) and although I do agree that running from ones problem will only make matters worse I also can't help but feel ashamed of how my fellow humans think. It seems like everyone is caught up in nationality and race when we could simply be aiding. Also people generalize too many things. Not every single illegal immigrant abuses the system, that can also be said to the "white man" insult. The Europeans colonized America 200 years ago. No one who commited the crimes is alive! Before you judge me as a conservative or liberal I would like to say I share ideology that falls on both spectrums. I'm also speaking as someone who has become a citizen and whose parents payed taxes ever since they were in America.

You can live in Mexico very decently not so different as an american town. Many mexican move to US looking for better way of live and what means that? earning more money. Many of this immigrants are peasants, people that don't know nothing more that work in farms, not elementary education or even don't speak spanish. In mexico for example a guy working in crops probably will earn between 11-30 pesos by 12 hrs working day ( 2.00 dls ) so you already know how much profit they do in US. Now if you have a degree, live in a big city and works like any normal salary man you will earn +12000-18000 pesos (1,000 dls per month) but remember something Mexico is really cheap. That's why Mexico's disparity is one of the biggest in the world.
