I loved hearing from Gaby and Russ. I recently moved to Ajijic from the suburbs around Sacramento, California. Loving it so far, but I don’t know that I will be there forever. I love watching these videos on other places in Mexico that may be potentials for the future. I have a couple of friends that are also curious about moving to Mexico, so I share these videos with them. I was an exchange student back in 1978. So as a newly retired person, I knew what I was getting into before I moved. I do think that US citizens need to prepare themselves for totally different lifestyle once they go to Mexico. Expectations need to be realistic. So far all of the people I meet in the heavily expat town that I’m living and have been more than cordial, both foreigners and Mexican nationals. I brought two dogs with me, that are on the medium to large size, so MIKE experience was that it is harder to find a place to rent when you bring pets. Possible, but harder to find. I think the biggest advantage to having made the move is the sense of peace or (tranquilo) that I feel on a day to day basis. Probably being newly retired and without family commitments contributes to the peace. The hardest part is missing family and friends, but I am doing my best to get involved with the local community to develop a new friendship network. Once again, I really enjoyed the interview.

Russ and Gabi sound like a very nice couple and Russ is embracing his new culture! When he spoke about his stroke and all that was involved with his recovery, I was astonished, as I was when they both spoke about the cost. I hear from so many people how great the medical services are in Mexico and Russ's story confirmed it. Great interview!

Thanks for showing Gabi and Russ's testimony and their adventure in Mexico. It makes a huge difference in a transition when someone can speak the local language and family is close by as support.

I like listening to the different people who aren't shown in these videos. Everyone has a different perspective which is what I like to see. The situation he described about the relatives living in the same neighborhood reminded me of my neighborhood I grew up in California. Many Mexican families. During any big celebration or party. There are people walking back and forth around the neighborhood.

Thanks Nancy- rentals vary a lot and can be found for as low as $300/month and up to $3,000 a month in Morelia But it’s not unusual to find a nice rental in the $600s somewhere not far from the city center
