Many of us hold Richard in such high esteem that as far as I’m concerned he is beyond reproach. (Also, If Richard wants to pronounce Jags as Jagwars instead of Jag- u -ars that’s also fine with me!)🙏🇬🇧

Really interesting and many thanks for showcasing these cars... but you kept saying 'MGB' all the time describing a lot of the cars... your excitement I guess got in the way. That MGB GT cut in half example started out as a MK.1, so it originally had all the detail etc of the first series, but to save money for future releases etc it was 'upgraded' to show it as a later example, for example note the later series internal door release handle. Internal and external colours were purely done for display purposes to 'catch the eye'. EX181 was also driven at Bonneville by Stirling Moss in 1957 breaking many records. The MG used a modified MGA twin-cam engine. Another interesting fact is the rear fin was removed when Phil Hill drove it and it went a lot faster, remaining quite stable.

Glad you enjoyed it Richard. I will be driving down to Paris from the UK to see the show on Saturday. We have just bought a Mercedes SL500 which we will be going in. Only been in it once but it's a lovely car. Really looking forward to the show. We have never been before. Will be returning in May for the Montlhery 100 year anniversary too.

I will be at the British Motor Museum (Gaydon) on Saturday where there will be some big gaps if all the MGs are in Paris. Thanks for the great pictures from Retromobile, Richard. 😎

The MG record car was originally driven by Stirling Moss in 1957 and then in 1959(?) with a slightly incressed engine size by Phill Hill. I believe I read somewhere that Moss said it was one of the most frightening cars he had ever driven.

The genius of MG was to create a traditional "sports car" that was neither powerful nor fast. It just sounded like it was powerful and fast. However if you looked at the British roads and drivers that it was made for, it didn't need to be powerful or fast. It was born to be a "look at me" fashion statement for public roads and it remains a fashion statement to this day.

Interesting to see that MG car company has gone into the "electrical appliance" business now. They used to make interesting sports cars with "soul" in days gone by. I see Mr Kimber turning in his grave. Not all MG's are MGB's.

The Cyberster would be great with a 2.5 liter V6 putting out 250HP. There is a hint of Jaguar F-Type with that flying buttress hand hold for the passenger. But electric, nah. Big Brother ruins everything.

Cyberster is a terrible nameplate. Zero heritage present in the design.
@jonathancarson19745 ай бұрын
The name is terrible and almost unpronounceable. It's not horrendously bad as a look, but very Chinese with the white leather etc.... Fake luxury.
