I’ve got a MG HS Excite since last December, so far so good, I like it, yeah a bit of lagging when you start up, but that’s common for turbo-charged car, not particular for MG or Chinese car, man, just be fair, and to be honest, driving skill is another key factor. By the way the acceleration is so fierce, lots of fun with it, good choice for tight budget.

Can you tell me what is fuel consumption with 2.0, because I saw numbers like 13.2 liters per 100 km. if you have imperial units you can write them and I’ll convert those numbers by my self. I guess the one thing I really want to know is the one thing you can't review as it would take years to do. How long will this car last before it starts breaking down, reliability. In new cars, this can only be represented by the manufacturers reputation. MG has a long history as an English car company. China is well known for taking tech, copying it and remaking it. So the longevity of this vehicle is up in the air. On that note my wife has just purchased an Essence X and I am still amazed at the acceleration this car produces. (That feature alone won me over. We live rural and need a quick car to overtake the damn slow, sight seeing, (Sunday) drivers that can add an extra 10-15mins of time to our daily commute to work). I'm just a little concerned about reliability as its a long way to the nearest mechanic for us. Keep up the good work fellas! Love the show.

I think the change of transmission is because the 7 speeder couldn't be made to fit with the AWD cars. I believe even the base car has a wet clutch DCT so the 7 speed should have been OK with the extra torque, so fitment is the only logical explanation.
@perhapsme9883 жыл бұрын
I drive MG HS with 250NM torque engine. The brake seems 'loose' but I believe it's due to the brake is used to slow down the car in cruise control mode. So the brake needs to be set for easier control. VW cars, at least the models I've driven, use the gears to slow car down in cruise control mode. Consequently, VW cruise control isn't as accurate in downhill run and always exceed set speed in steep slope. MG cruise control is much more accurate up or down hill run. I find the lane depart warning (vibration on steering wheel in addition to beep) is overdone. The steering wheel is necessarily loose and vibrates with engine and car movement. Hence it's not good for medium distance or long distance drive. They should rid of vibration on steering wheel for any warning such as lane departing. Driver comfort is far more important than the added warning. Pilot functions (with cruise control) are ok but could be annoying with unnecessary slow down coming to sharper curves. Also slight delay of this. Improvements will come I am sure. Adaptive cruise control is overrated altogether. Annoying often to be honest. Haven't used sports or super sports mode yet. Don't see the point. Wish the AWD 350NM torque engine model was available when I bought mine. It's worth the added $3,000 only for a more capable model. Vs my VW, the MG is better in many ways and higher value too...

I think you should focus on details, rather than sarcasm. I don't say "no jokes please" but this is not a proper review. This is more like an advertorial. In some parts, you mentioned about equipment but you rarely gave details. E.g; this car has 1.2 square meters of panoramic sunroof, covering even back of your head. Also it opens almost half way up, which you cannot see in any other car in this segment. No ambient lighting? If this is top version, it should have. No night shots at all! You almost skipped to show details of interior space. Tall people, short people, bla bla... What kind of review is this? Soft touch materials everywhere but you don't even touch and test it. This is what MG is trying to emphasize for its cars, such as HS. Cabin noise? Just a few words. The list goes on but I am tired already. Please do the review first and keep on joking, respectively. People really wonder about Chinese cars, especially the ones like MG HS. This car is standing at a good price point for what it offers. Please explain why. We all know it "might" have reliability issues in the long term. We need to know what makes this car a bargain in most cases.
