Stephen Graham thanks! Yes only make that mistake once! Grinders don’t give you a second chance!

Really enjoying your videos. They are giving me the motivation to finish mine. Where abouts are you based looks like you have lots of room for restorations.

Thanks for watching Chris! The workshop is near Crawley, West Sussex. It's a modest size but have room for 3-4 vehicles at the same time.

You appear to cut/trim all the new panel replacements..is it not advisable to maintain the integrity of the new panel & cut out the entire existing panel, or is the principle you only remove the 'rotten' parts to maintain as much of the original car as possible?

It depends really, now I only replace entire floor pans, or half pan as a minimum. But most other panels I will cut out the rot and trim to fit.

Good call on blanking off the sill jacking holes. Never liked them either.

+TK42138 much nicer and they’re really not necessary 😁

Agree. I've plugged each with rubber bungs that I worked with in the day to avoid water intrusion. I didn't know anyone that used or trusted that silly crank jack. Most bought a scissor or bottle jack and placed it beneath the spare.

Hi, how many hours would you estimate it took you to replace the sill on each side? Very much enjoying the videos!
@VisionAutoGarage
@VisionAutoGarage 6 жыл бұрын
tomtomed1 I’d estimate a day per sill, but having to repair floors, footwells and bulkhead adds a couple of days! With filming it takes so much longer 😁 I’m so glad you are enjoying the videos! Thank you for watching!

Not trying to nit pick but did you put the inner sill on the wrong side? It looks like the bends at the ends are facing out and not in to meet up with the outer section of the wheel well? Or I did mine wrong lol

The flange at the end butts up to the sill end fills. If it were the other way around the inner sill would sit outwards the depth of the flange, as its not longer than the floor pan. Also, the captive nut for the seat belt anchor would be on the inside of the car, not inside of the sill.

Vision Auto Garage damn! My sills were so rusted I didn’t have the nuts on the inner sill to go by. Only that the seat belt but on the tunnel looked like it was sticking out. When will you be posting videos doing the trunk floor and rear fenders. That my last real job and I’m stumped getting it right!! Thanks so much for your videos!!!

Shame they only seem to make Midget panels and not B/C panels.

incredible to think this car is basically a bunch of sheet metal.... what a death trap.. Beautiful but still a death trap
@VisionAutoGarage

It's actually a reasonably strong monocoque. Sheet folded and formed into box sections, which essentially makes up the entire structure of the car - sill, rear bulkhead, chassis legs, cross-members and tunnel. Whats more likely to get you is the early non-collapsing steering columns.
