Great video. After watching I decided my bushings are good enough. That's too much trouble for what I'm going for right now. I should note, however, the grooves on the inside of mine are an intricate pattern that haven't seen here or on other videos. It's also different from the replacement that came with the rebuild kit.

The Bronze bushes have to be Pressed in or Bashed in this can cause a slight distortion in the inner surface this is why they need to be Reamed . There are Fixed size and Adjustable ones .

On the shims and bronze thrust washer goes in this order.Stub axle, two shims, bronze thrust washer then the trunnion. Got this from Moss Motors. I saw this yesterday in another video.

Think I will use my 12 v impact wrench to set in the bushing. A whole lot quicker, simpler🥴😬😊

How different is an MGA assembly? I assume it's quite similar but I haven't had the guts to attempted it myself.

Instead of a mini hacksaw, if you have a jigsaw w a metal blade, a whole lot easier, take your time.

Enjoying your vids! Question, if the bushing is the right size, why do you need to ream it?

Thanks! The bushing is the right size outer diameter to fit in the stub axle with an interference fit. Quite difficult to drive into position though. The inner diameter is too tight for you to slip the king-pin in. I think this is done on purpose - the reamer tool reams the two bushings in-line as it were - making the inner diameter of the bushings both the right size, and also directly in-line with each other. Hope that makes some sense - not sure if I explained it properly. It is a bit like line-boring the bearings when you install new camshaft bearings. The hole down the middle of each one has to be exactly lined up with the others.

Great job explaining. A neighbor of mine is going through his own stub axle. I think the bushings are in great shape so it looks like we should probably just leave them alone since we don't have a reamer. Thanks again for the reply.
