I actually beat this quest first try in 17 minutes... but my 3DS has this problem where sometimes it will say the cartridge popped out even when it hasn't, so I lost my progress trying to take a picture of my time and I had to re-do the quest a bunch of times. I kept getting shitty runs where Diablos would see me first or I'd die to Seregios. Then I finally beat it at 2 AM the same day with a much worse time. The point of this comment? I dunno, I needed to tell somebody. Nice run. Also the Lightbreak Gunlance looks so cool, I wish the lance had a better design.

I just first-tried this quest with an attack-honed Tamarod Sedition gunlance in 15:13! It was surprisingly not that difficult, since caravan monsters are scaled downed compared to hub ones, I was able to flinch them extremely quickly.

Man, hyper-aggresiveness seems to be far more effective against this damn quest. I've done it solo and have been improving my times pretty well, think like 8:30 was my best for Dala IG, but having put down MH4U for a while definitely shows when I try it now. In other news, myself and a friend did Advanced: Monster Hunter! and damn, Brachy AND Zin are both 'screw you for not looking at me' monsters, and really enjoy harassing you when you try and get the other (messed up the smoke bomb). But I am pretty content, given that we went into it kinda sarcastically, not expecting a win.

It's obviously a LongShot. The GL has 3 shells only. Either it's a Wide Gunlance with Load Up or a Long Shot. But since it's pretty much a waste of time to build a blade master set with Load up it's veeeery unlikely.

+Sciny Death Nah, already tried Seregios GL on this quest and I don't really get better times. The blast procs help a lot at tripping monsters, especially against diablos since the legs don't take much raw damage, which in turn creates more openings to attack Diablos, making the fight less stressful.

+AlbertoTheAlpaca Evasion+ is a pretty expensive skill after all, which is why I rarely use it. I didn't feel like the usual HGE/Tremor Res skill combo is significantly better with GL, so I went for something different instead and used evade gunlancing for this.

Lv140 GQs are the way to go if you want to get that talisman (preferably hard monsters since they tend to give more rewards such as Teostra, Deviljho, Rajang etc.)

Question: no artillery skill? I mean, u use it more like a lance than a Gunlance :D It was only for this run cuz monsters are not very powerfull or it's "normal " for you to not use it? GL is one of the only weapons i don't use competitively cuz i'm not sure how to use it to her maximum efficiency. +DarkHeart Vanitas GL shellings don't do much damage, so in most cases it's better to go for melee attacks.

+DarkHeart Vanitas The only good shell is the wide (charged if possible) tipe for the hight damage ignoring monster defense (it's great whit shah dalamadur) the other are preatty bad and the one cant was using is the long tipe which have "medium" damage on shells and is focused on boost Wyvern Fire damage (+20%) so it's better focusing in skill that boost melee damage

Shells don't do jack with long gunlances In fact, shells are barely used in like any gunlance speedrun The stabs do much more damage and you can land them consistently, plus the shell shots decrease sharpness more

Out of all the Master's Test runs, this is by far the worst. How to use GL PROPERLY: A-A-X-A, A-A-X-A, etc.

+Lux Sandre Depends. Shelling is better in Wide GLs, but Brachy's is Long, which does more physical damage (plus it inflicts Blast). Probably one of the best GLs in the game. Also, ideal Long GL combo is X-X-AX, X-X-A-X-X... or AX-X-X

Lux Sandre The thing is getting Load Up in a Blademaster set. For that much trouble I'd rather go w/ Arty God. Maybe will do a bit less dmg per burst but will allow set flexibility.

I agree that normal type GL is better than the other two, but in this case (Master Test solo, with time-wise also need to be accounted), i think Long GL really does the trick. Shelling is very useful against monster with hard armor but with low or mid HP such as basarios, gravios or daimyo hermitaur (averagely 5000 hp). Seregios and Diablos are included in this category. But Deviljohn is different matter. It's HP is almost twice (9000s), and imo this is the main reason why Long GL is better for this run. OR, it just that Canta prefer using long type rather than wide or normal :)
