What's funny is i've been using both for a couple weeks now and I truly just enjoy the different flavors they both provide. My fiance prefers the BEP. It's fun to experiment with flavors and that's why I love your channel!

I've bought the BEP. It's my first ever precision basket, and all I can say is I'm impressed already. I had to go finer for the grind size, it doesn't deform or protude out at the bottom of the basket, and the espresso was clean as in no fines were in the cup at all! I had trouble with OEM basket where I've had fines in the bottom of my drinks.

​@@mycoffeeshow111I've just made a flat white for myself with the BEP basket, using coffee from brazil. Previously when i used OEM basket, it tasted good, but no clarity. While using BEP, i could taste that it was more malty, the notes were slightly distinctive. And the body seems a little bit thicker than the OEM basket. Also, i think i have to mention this, for my espresso machine the BEP basket made the portafilter a little bit too tight to lock in the grouphead (locked at 7 o'clock), i think due to the lip of the basket being a little bit thicker than OEM. Just a heads up for anyone trying to buy this basket! It's good nonetheless

DEX has more flavor notes for me, it's true that it's a bit sharper. BEP is very balanced and noticeably sweeter. I tested it on several medium roasted coffees with flavor notes like cocoa, chocolate, toffee, caramel. The manufacturer somewhere on Instagram recommended using BEP for lighter roasted coffees, and DEX for medium and dark roasts. One thing I hate about BEP is that there are always little bits of coffee left in it. My imagination that this could affect the taste of the next espresso is driving me nuts

@@DoreK thx for sharing your thoughts. Very interesting findings and at least some of that corresponds with what I got. I don’t really care much about few speckles of dust on the bottom of my basket but I always try to clean it as much as possible after each shot.

I have both which I use with my alm kopi. I tend to use the Dex more, but if I'm not enjoying the espresso too much it's great to move to the bep for some extra sweetness. The crema tastes a little more aerated with the bep.

Thanks for your awesome comparison, and I bought BEP after you compared BEP with Wafo, but why not 20 grams? 😁 and by the way, I found to enjoy the shots under 25 seconds with BEP

In unedited version of this video I was actually talking about often overdosing those baskets to 20g and how it affects the body of the shot but most viewers only watch to 3min of my videos so I try to make them shorter. I get great results with BEP over 30sec but DEX gets uncomfortable there, hence I went for below that.

BEP seems to be about half the price at $14 each with discounts and most people who compared the two seem to prefer it. I just ordered the 15g and 20g BEP baskets.

I'm using 51mm with the most depth from IMS. I make 20g in 40g out with blind shaker, it brings out the best. I use regular 27mm depth 16g in 32g out, the result wasn't great. Not sure if it is due to my cheap delonghi espresso pump or not

Ihave bought 15gr BEP basket. It makes great improvement comparing to the stock basket. I am only concerned about fitting into the e61 groupset (on Gaggia Milano La Dea). BEP has thicker ring above the portafilter (comparog to the stock). So when I use BEP the portafilter does not turn as much as with the stock basket. Do you know if the tjickness of the ring od DEX basket is perhaps thinner on DEX?

@@The1102sv I think that as long as you are able to secure your portafilter in the group head without any leaks, you should be fine. Just don’t force it in. Does the basket sit evenly in your portafilter?

The BEP basket makes a mess if you don't pull a slower shot. Very thin but silky body. Don't love the puck knock out that leaves a little coffee around the edge My favorite basket is the Pasado HE XL. I'm finally very happy with its clarity and flavor separation now that I an pulling 1-2 ratio shots under 20 seconds on very light roasts

@@rkytr.2765 the best one, even better than Wafo I believe after many of my tests, is the Noremore which was released before the trend of all these new high extraction baskets, it has like 2 layers on the bottom, one being like an open mesh. I found this one is very good making the best expresso flavors.

i wrote a long comment yesterday but YT keeps deleting it:( anyway mate i have both DEX 20g and BEP 18 & 20g baskets - I believe i got them after your first BEP basket review. I like the DEX much better as the BEP are giving me really fast shots. I did notice when brewing with the BEP "the butterfly affect" where equal (sometimes..) streams from the outer basket unite to a single stream in the middle - if that makes sense. btw, can i send you an email?

@@Howie-bz5pe well, I recorded a video some time ago comparing BEP with Wafo and BEP did really well. DEX would not do that well. I know that extraction % can be meaningless but Wafo easily gets to 23% while those two struggle to get to 21%.
