The thing that makes valor LS so good is that counter, which can block ANY attack. Getting used to it is a little difficult, but it feels so good when you get the hang of it.

@@clairevicidomini3199 It's the only reason I even beat that edgy piece of shit. Also, not EVERY attack can be blocked, for example: various lasers, Valstrax's Draco Meteor, Malfestio's sleep wave, etc.

Certain moves (Pretty much any with multiple hitboxes) can't be. Learned the hard way from moves like Rustrazor's jump slash)

One small note! Guild actually isn't the only style with the run-in spirit followup after a fade slash, adept can do that as well! It just loses the ability to do a backwards fade slash (which is honestly the one that's used the least anyway)

3:22 What reaction speed! I woulda get hit by that 100% XD Anyway, I love the Long Sword, but I have to admit that I used it less and less in the past games until XX. Man, the Valor style is just FANTASTIC! It's so fun to play with and looks stylish as heck. I just love countering in video games, so Valor Long Sword and Valor Gunlance have become my absolute favourite in XX (although the Palico took the top spot for most used weapon class by miles... XD). Critical Juncture is also fantastic, but I rarely use it because Valor can already counter... I should really use it more.

I know this is super late but anyone that might see this getting GU to pass time until Rise when MHW was their first game, the hardest thing to get used to if you mained long sword or even just played it a lot is that World really lets you delay attack inputs. GU does not let you delay attack inputs very long and some moves have really long recovery times if you just stop mid combo instead of continuing

For Sakura Slash, if you use it with Valor style without being in Valor mode, it will raise your Spirit Gauge to white. It's a nice thing so that it's possible to always have a raised Spirit Gauge.

MHW helm breaker and foresight slash spoiled me. I loved longsword now, used to hate them due to tripping everyone but in MHW they kind of reduced sword effects so its awesome

I do still find adept more useful than brave against certain monsters. Mainly monsters that are hard to reach or move around a lot such as Deviljho. I just take forever to reach valor mode and can't maintain it very long, whereas with adept I can consistently stay in red.

One thing you forgot to mention, in Monster Hunter games before World, once you maxed out your spirit gauge it started blinking and would stay maxed out for a while wich also gave you a bit of a damage buff on your spirit combo if im not mistaken. Doesnt really make that much of a difference in playstyle cause its the best combo for damage in either game, but cancelling out of it to not do the finishing slash becomes something you wanna try and do once youre in red for optimal damage when playing MHGen or GU.

i still prefer the Valor style in MHGU.. foresight in world is nerfed, you need atleast a 1/8 of the spirit meter to do a foresight, else it won't work, and you need to do it after a few seconds of an attack animation. wish they'd put hunting styles in world too..

4:50 My belief Is that that art Is meant for Brave style since brave dodging consumes hp but keeps the red bar, so the player can exploit that with more safety given the art doesn't allow to recover lost hp If It's not red bar :o [and so the short time reason, probably >.>] (Also a downside about the art Is that It takes too long to activate as well. It fills fast imo, but because of Its activation time It's worthless to use It mid-battle, It's very risky -_-'')

Striker longsword also removes the sideways fade slash; you can only fade slash backwards in striker style, which is why I prefer guild style..

I find adept to be *far* more consistent than Valor. I also don't care for the counter Hunter Art. It's the only one I don't use. I mean why counter when I'm using the Adept style? Having Sakura Slash makes aerial style gain red spirit gage faster. (Going from zero to white gage takes more time because it doesn't have the shortcut) I've *always* loved unhinged spirit when playing solo because it reminds me of MH Tri LongSword (my first Monster Hunter game)

Just takes learning the timing if monster moves. If you can adept evade extremely well or guard point, you can parry with slightly more effort

well, you actually start using the spirit combo to do that. when in valor mode, the first spirit move will have a little fancy twirl at the very start before it does damage, that is the counter. of course, brave sheath is good as well if you have trouble with that, taking 1/3 of the damage as red health, and sheathing your weapon while relocating you a short distance backwards. the counter lets you negate the damage though, and correct me if i'm wrong, but it deals a fair amount of damage, while allowing you to continue spirit combo.
