Iirc ED basically said Ka-50's vary pretty wildly in terms of capabilites and ordinance and that the Ka50 they had access to wasn't one with R73's so we weren't getting them. There supposedly was one with Igla's that ED was going to use for BS3, but iirc the Russian government said "nope".

i'm surprised the HInds just didn't start flaring directly if the missiles are so easily spoofed (plus it has IR suppression) the Hind has 192 flares vs Gazelle with only 32 sure you get more easily spotted but i think it would have made for some interesting fights

(with one possible exception) Not to mention how the Gazelle missiles cheat so badly i'm stunned. Locking on through buildings? Actively and perfectly flying around buildings? Uh, the Mistral may be decent, but that's not something it can do AFAIK.

@@dampsok Ok, i apparently missed that, but that is utterly and absurdly ridiculous as well. Even just a single 30mm shell would likely shred an unarmored target like the Gazelle. And i doubt even with extreme luck it could survive more than 3 hits. I guess it's even more cheaty broken than i thought.

The R-60M missile is about 2x the weight with a slightly heavier warhead, using expanding rods (Mistral uses balls). It's not really designed to be fired from a slow helicopter, whereas the Mistral is a slightly bigger MANPADS. R-60M has better theoretical range, but in practice would be limited by the seeker... maybe a nice video idea? :D Range down on the ground and at flight ceiling...

The Gazells flight model is the biggest embarrassment to dcs, compared to the other developers and eagle dynamics them selves I am suppressed it got past QC. Good video anyway, it would have been interesting to see the saclos guided attaka air to air missile for this video, cant flare the human eye!

Have a QUESTION for Cap or anyone who is knowledgeable about DCS hardware requirements and flight sticks/ VR ect....... Recently I lost all of my desktop computer and all the associated Hardware. Not looking for any sympathy I'm just in the process of ordering a brand new computer and all the associated Hardware to go with DCS. I know what's the minimum requirements are Etc but I'm trying to figure out what the minimum requirements would be to run it it pretty much the highest Graphics I can VR included. I'm in a situation where I'm going to have to replace everything and money's not too much of an issue so I'm trying to get some advice

I tried this with a Apache vs the Hind controlled by AI. If his skill was set to Rookie I smoked him easily. Notch it up to Veteran and he smokes me every time. He just cannot miss with his cannon. Even if I spoof his missiles, every bullet he fires goes into my cockpit windshield. My poor co-pilot just gets shredded.

Hey cap! Now that the Hind has fox 2's, there is absolutely no reason why it can't go toe to toe with any fixed wing aircraft in the game. How about re-visiting the "Hind VS. The World" except taking the training weights off and making it fight modern jets with fox 2's.

I have one strange idea. Do air to air combat in Hind with AH-64. I've seen how Apachee shoot its Hellfires against moving air targets and still got hits (well, basically with an AI for a gunner, but that should be possible for human pilot)

Cap, to be a good helicopter pilot you need to adopt the same abilities that were required to be a good Me262 pilot during the war - quick thinking and slow reactions - the opposite was deemed true of a traditional prop driven fighter pilot. (Fast reactions could compensate for slow thinking).
