Mission Impossible Fallout might have set a new high for the Tom Cruise action franchise, but Brad Bird's Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol also plays a significant part -- not only did it bring MI and TC back in form, it's also a fantastic example of how to build a situation in movies. So, as we await for Mission Impossible 7, let's climb back to 2011's Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol starring Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, Paula Patton and the world's tallest building Burj Khalifa and run away from a sandstorm to see how to create situations.

Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol
Academy Award-winning director Brad Bird (Ratatouille) makes his live-action feature directorial debut with the fourth installment of the massively successful Mission Impossible series. The Kremlin has been bombed, and the blame has fallen on the IMF. As a result, the president initiates Ghost Protocol, and accuses Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his MI Fallout how to create the perfect scene tom cruise climbing building mission impossible 7 stunt clip mission impossible ghost protocol watch full movie online free 4k clip hd ultra hd jeremy renner henry cavill brad bird the incredibles video essay team every tom cruise run ever mission impossible sandstorm mission impossible chase scene kremlin how to build the ultimate movie monster of placing the bomb in an attempt to incite a global nuclear war. But this time they're on their own, and should they be caught, the entire world could be plunged into a nightmare from which there is no waking up. Jeremy Renner, Paula Patton, and Simon Pegg co-star.

Mission Impossible Fallout
After a dangerous assignment involving the recovery of stolen plutonium goes wrong, Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) elects to keep his team out of harm's way rather than complete their mission, which results in a team of expertly trained operatives taking possession of nuclear weapons. Consequently, Ethan and his IMF team (Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Rebecca Ferguson) must join forces with CIA assassin August Walker (Henry Cavill) in order to prevent a catastrophic nuclear fallout. Produced, written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie. Also starring Alec Baldwin, Angela Bassett, and Michelle Monaghan

One underrated compliment I have to give "Mission: Impossible - Fallout" is how they use a fake news broadcast to explain the importance of those plutonium cores. Instead of having a huge exposition dump from one character to another, explaining what could happened if they exploded, we as the audience can than actually see the consequences of how it will affect the world. And what will happen if they fail the mission.

@@don1041 OK, I watched Tenet recently, he's actually pretty good, he even kinda looks like a Russian guy. His accent was obviously not entirely believable, but passable. They all make the same mistake of trying to sound slow and dumb, with some weird intonation going down in every sentence. That's not really how it works. Russian accent should be pretty much normal in intonation, but way rougher in phonetics. Consonants in Russian are extremely rough, as clear as you can make them. In some cases, like if it's the very last sound of the word, it can be dulled down ("g" to almost like "k", "b" to almost like "p", and so on). Vowels are reduced in almost every position without emphasis ("o" to "uh", and so on, so for example the word "korova" - means "cow", written down in Latin alphabet - has the emphasis on the second syllable, so the first "o" is reduced to almost a hard "a", sounds more like "karova", unless you're from one specific region of Russia where they don't reduce vowels, the same goes for hard "e" and "i" respectively). Plus, you gotta take into account that some sounds in English don't exist in Russian phonetics, like "th" (both soft and hard versions), and a lot of Russians struggle a bit with those, even a lot of teachers. So, if you wanna sound more Russian, stop trying to simulate the stereotypical "Soviet Russian" accent and try to speak more or less proper English, but with some grammatical errors like a missing/wrong article here or there, or maybe a wrong conjugation, and mess up the phonetics a little bit in the way described above. BTW, his assistant was actually played by a legit Russian guy, Yuri Kolokolnikov, he's in a lot of American movies and series nowadays

The way this man intergrates his ads are actually amazing. He builds up an idea that something is wrong with google's website through the google drive's strange occurance, emphasising that its a problem through the inability to make a video. Then when he calls upon themes of percevirance and struggles, his account is logged off again, a natural continuation of the occurances happening on drives and a natural continuation of the thematic ideas that are being tackled as the problem of not signing in is an obstacle that must be toppled. Then he introduces nordpass as a method of solving this problem, in other words despite the form it takes, it is the representation of perservirance and hope, something that we are meant to be using in our hardest of times(like getting into a google account). A true masterclass of storytelling, bravo

One of my favorite things about this series is that they set up characters in a way where you always believe they're competent enough to succeed (so it doesn't feel like they pull a win out of thin air), but it never feels like it's EASY. Case in point being how much Ethan gets the shit kicked out of him by enemies AND environmental damage but still keeps running. He's constantly getting the wind knocked out of him to the point where he starts limping and yet keeps going. I love how many running scenes Tom does for this series. The scene along the waterfront in MI3, the Dubai sandstorm chase in this movie, the chase in Rogue Nation after he nearly drowns and the rooftop chase in Fallout. I know Tom gets typecast as 'stoic action man', but I think Ethan Hunt is actually underappreciated as a character. He has this frenetic energy about him in action scenes but he's also incredibly clever and quick-witted.

I'm impressed by the creativity, and not even mad about it. haha. However, I think it'd be best for him to just stick the ad in the end of the video. Makes for less of a distraction from the video's message.

My most memorable sequences of all time? The Raid 2 Hallway Fight/ Kitchen Fight. It's 10 minutes of pure action on display, but it's never dull; the dynamics are so fluid that it keeps my blood pumping every time I watch it.

The 'Mission: Impossible' franchise started its winning streak with this one. That said, I do think they did overdo the tension. The scene of Hunt and Brandt trying to enter the train felt unneccesary and as you mentioned, the mask-making machine breaking down felt out of the blue. Personally, these flaws took their toll in the final act where I've become desensitized of the thrills. Still a good movie overall, but not as great as the two sequels.

@@strikerbowls791 Exactly. I don't think that it's fair calling Ghost Protocol good and Rogue Nation/Fallout great as all three movies clearly belongs on the latter category. It's just a matter on which one you like more.

I love the sequence in Coraline, where she goes back into the Other world to find her parents. The sequence has a very slow progression, and makes use of it in the best way possible, so that when all hell breaks loose at the end, you’re on the edge of your seat.

I think you're underestimating MI3 in getting the series finally on track: it's the first to focus on teamwork (even though the team characters aren't fleshed out yet), and the first to focus on repeated team sub-missions, AND it ramped up the emotional stakes better than MI2 without betraying the existing fanbase like MI1 (though MI1 does do better character work with the teams.)

Absolutely! MI3 is when J. J. Abrams became involved and upped the action and added a sense of humor. Without MI3, Ghost Protocol never would have happened.

Aspiring novelist here. I really enjoyed this since it relates so well to my current project. I'm struggling with the sort of episodic structure I've got going similar to the idea of film situations. The characters in my novel fail their plot goals basically every time but complete their story goals (their growth). Focusing on that I think will help achieve that satisfying ending I'm after when the MC finally gets that big win.

The thing that I liked about Ghost Protocol than the rest is because it really feels like an adventure. Each sequence takes place in some landmark, the next ones just has the sequences take place in some alley, street or abandoned structure

Another good thing that this constant cycle of things going wrong and the objective becoming more difficult is that it makes the heroes feel less prepared, so the stress level is raised for them in a believable way. So depending on the performances, this can greatly increase the tension.
