This was my eighth attempt at making a trailer for one of my favorite episodes of Miami Vice. "Evan" from Season One was written by Paul Diamond and directed by Rob Cohen This episode originally aired on May 3rd, 1985.

"Evan" was one of the first Jan Hammer cues available on cd. Even now, after all the KZbin channels devoted to his music-and more than a dozen burned cds-it's still distinctive thru all the iterations available. The most interesting being from "A Bullet For Crockett", for which Jan Hammer scored every flashback sequence for the episode.

They should have written an episode in the earlier days when it was Crockett, Evan Freed, and Michael Orgell. The story which Crockett spoke upon with Tubbs by his side at the Gas Station. It would have been a great episode. I'm pretty sure. #True Miami Vice Fan.

Yes. Probably a two-parter where Crockett tells Tubbs about himself, Evan, and Orgell. That story alone would cover the first episode, Part I. Then Part II would cover what we saw in "Evan". Right now I am a part-time writer and poet who teaches English in Asia. I might probably attempt to write that story when I can. I was too young to consider writing as a career during the original run of Miami Vice (I was 12 when it first suited in 1984) but now with some experience, why not? Seneca Nicholson, you could write that story, or we could collaborate on it. I have long since entertained the idea of Miami Vice mini-novels which expand on the adventures of Crockett and Tubbs, give them a few extra years that television and time couldn't give them.

Excellent trailer for an excellent episode. Miami Vice tackled the most controversial topics of it's time. In addition to the drugs, gun running, prostitution, etc., it also focused on domestic violence, homosexuality, HIV / AIDS, illegal adoptions, et al.

golden years with the most golden show ... we did not realize it at that time but the 80's were beyond special - MV was even well beyond that ... Really sad that this episode is only available on The Miami Vice Box set. Streaming doesn't have it, anywhere. Even if you buy season 1 on Amazon Prime video. Get the Mill Creek Set while you can, cause "Evan" will become a lost episode at this rate.

Yes, it's a real shame. My understanding is, they removed the episode due to the fact the word, "faggot" was used and there was also a scene with a neo-nazi. Why is this episode banned?

The word "faggot" is used in the episode and it also has a scene with a neo-Nazi. This may be the reason it is banned. During certain reruns in syndication, the word was muted and the scene with the neo-Nazi were sometimes removed completely. I hope this helps.
