Lol Cam is an improviser in every sense of the word. Yes he holds on to the ball, but that’s what improvisers do. They extend plays and try to make things happen. When they have no line, it’s even worse because now they have to play hero ball. They would take sacks anyways. But they take less because they can make guys miss.
@jpDragna2 ай бұрын
I've been tossing these Ward stats everywhere, but I figured PFF crow might appreciate them because I'm a Miami fan who's worried about Ward's tendency to turn the ball over, and I wanted to dig into his stats and see what was up. Bury the lead here, he's just too casual with the ball, and the vast majority of his turnovers were fumbles that were entirely his fault. The good news is, I don't think he's going to be able to be that Cam Ward with Miami, or rather I don't think he's going to be able to be that Cam Ward. Last year at Washington State he accounts for 76% of their total yards, 71% of their total plays (attempts + rushes), and 75% of their scoring (25 passing and 8 rushing TDs). That is an insane amount of usage, even for a QB. The Cougars had fantastic pass catchers (just watch the Oregon State game last year, yeah Ward got the ball out there, but I was started to keep track of the number of 1 handed catches, and it was more than 1 heh), but they didn't have even an iota of a run game. Their leading rusher was Nakia Watson who had 321 yards and 3.6 YPC. Even without Martinez, Miami was returning with Fletcher and Ajay Allen who both had more yards total as options 2 and 4 in the backfield, and had 4.9 and 5.2 yards per carry respectively. Finally, Ward was sacked 38 times, but he also scrambled a lot and got out of even more sacks (120 carries). Miami has better pass protection, they probably have an equal level of talent at the wide receiver position (seriously, the plays those Cougars were making were incredible), and they definitely have a better stable of running backs. Just by virtue of Shannon Dawson not letting him make the kinds of plays Ward wanted to make last year I think his turnover numbers go down. Ward seems to have bought into the idea of playing on a better team, and what that means for his game (at least verbally, we'll still see how he plays the game on the field). From a pure numbers perspective, there's no way he's getting the kind of usage he got at WAZU, if only because Martinez and Co are going to actually be productive runners...and Mario's going to want to emphasize that. I don't trust that Ward's gotten better at tucking the ball on his scrambles, and if the spring game was any indication he's still prone to crazy improvisation that might now work in a real game, I just think he's not going to be in those positions as often at Miami because of the run game, and the pass protection advantages he's going to have.

Mario Cristobal isn''t on the "hot seat". Stop it. Miami gave him a 10-year, $80,000,000 deal to dig in for the long haul to clean up a two decade mess. He was the program's first choice as an alum and a proven guy from what he did at Oregon, as well as learning under Saban in Alabama for four years. The only one on a hot seat is Billy Napier as he was a second-tier guy for Florida and fans have felt he was off-brand since he showed up in Gainesville ... you're also leaving out just how horrible Tyler Van Dyke was last year; 11-to-1 touchdown-interception ratio first four game with TVD-5-to-11 ratio the next five games as Van Dyke lost all his mojo. 7-6 is easily 10-3 if TVD literally doesn't forget how to read a zone defense and started forcing passes (to the point people thought he was on the take and throwing games.)

I will say I am a gator fan, but I am not saying they will win by 100. I just think it is crazy how you spend 17 minutes talking about how great Miami is here, Miami is there, and then talk about how bad Florida was last year in those areas. You’re going to mention their secondary was bad, it was, but that is why Florida got a new DBs coach in Will Harris, who at Washington constantly produced talented DBs to the NFL, and you also failed to mention the lack of pass rush the Florida defensive line produced, you said that they were good in plays under 2.5 seconds.? Well is that a correlation or more of a causation between those things, along with having a lot more depth this year on the secondary with guys like Asa Turner and DJ Douglas who were PORTAL editions, we bring back a freshman all American at SS who had only played safety for all of ..last year as a converted CB. Not to mention that Jason Marshall for the first two years of his career was very solid at CB for them, plus not to even fathom the extremely complicated defense that Austin Armstrong put on the YOUNG guys, FIRST year STARTERS, where they also changed Defensive Coordinators about a week before spring ball last year. Now let’s get to the defensive line, again Florida brought in one of the most coveted players on defense in Joey Slackman, a guy in which schools like Michigan and Ohio state wanted, but you fail to mention that, as well as the fact they have a 5 star man child in LJ McCray coming in this year, or that Boone is back who many Florida fans would tell you was a huge PREseason loss last year, and played better than the only D lineman you did mention in Princely. Not to mention once again that unit got a new coach, and the defense got a co-coordinator in the new LBs coach Ron Roberts who is Austin Armstrong football dad. Now let’s get to offense, you’re going to name Montrell as a good RB but not mention the depth we have there, the depth of a 2nd year juco transfer who has been turning heads, a true sophomore in Webb, that played well when getting the chance or Baugh who got a ton of recognition in the spring with that huge Spring game performance, and to not mention floridas TWO huge transfers at WR, Badger and Dike, even though you glazed Restrepo? For Miami, and not to mention Tre Wilson, who was a true freshman gadget toy last year, who will get better in year two, or Mizell, tank Hawkins, where was the talk about any of Floridas depth? Plus Graham mertz in a second year system in an offense that was much better the second half of the year last year with him in it. But again only talk about Cam Ward who while talented also has games where he put up a 20 QBR against teams like Stanford who was gosh awful last year in pass D, I think about bottom 5 in everyone last year, not just P5. I will say this was not an accurate preview at all, it was a Miami talk show at best. You even have Michigan fans at ROC boys football talking more fairly than this. Seriously guys do better, do more research
@ChrisWhite10032 ай бұрын
You guys should do some more research on the rosters before you do a video. Take two seconds and hop on 247 composite and look up overall talent. Florida has the 12th most talented roster in the country. Miami has the 14th most talented roster. That is including all transfer portal additions. So to say Miami is a more talented team.
