Remember Malcolm MacDonald aka Supermac doing 10.9secs in the 100m on Superstars? At the time that would have qualified him to run in the Olympics for Britain I seem to recall. Brian Jacks, the Judo lad, was the Daddy though. He seemed to win it every year. David Emery was brilliant too. He once said at his peak he drank 6 pints of beer every single night.

I was watching France vs Spain, as a Barcelona fan, of course I was rooting for Pau Cubarsi & Fermin to win the gold, but of course deep down I was hoping Titi wins the gold, he was one of my childhood heroes, one of them who makes you fall in love with the game, and my brain just refuses to accept the fact that Thierry Henry, the great Titi, with the footballing brain that has, will have the monaco & the MLS stint as his managerial career!! No Way!! He didn't win the Gold with France but I am hoping this silver medal will life his managerial career and as much as Micah (and many of us) like to see him at CBS, it'd be amazing seeing him as a top top manager that we all know he can be. Love the pod, so excited for the season to start alongwith the pod, as a Barcelona fan, I hope you cover more of Spanish football too.

I have a question for Micah…… how fast was Gabriel Agbonlahor? He ripped him apart at Villa park in august 2009
@Aimia42 ай бұрын
I played against Gabi a handful of times at an academy we were both at in 2005ish. It was just before his first Villa games. He was lightning quick, especially acceleration. I was playing CB against him, and he's probably the fastest guy I've ever played against. I had to consciously give him a few extra yards. Luckily his all-round game wasn't great, so even when he did beat me over the top, I rarely got punished 🤣 For reference, I ran a 10.5 sec 100m at that time and he was significantly faster than me.

I definitely don't think Hoddle would be successful today. If you look at every job he had, none of them went well other than Swindon. And what's the feedback from every team he's ever managed? Amazing coach, incredibly bad man manager. You'll never be successful if you can't manage personalities, and in fact make a large portion of them actively dislike you. Although he was very inflexible tactically, and insisted on playing the exact same formation and style at every club, whether they had suitable players or not. Most owners now seem to love that, so he might've got a lot of cracks at too jobs.

Trust me if there Mindset was as good as Cristiano's then Ronaldo and Ronaldinho would have been the greatest players ever by a million miles! Zizu and Maradona second
@kb55092 ай бұрын
Based on what? There's a common theme in sports whereby anyone that doesn't fulfil their presumed potential is automatically supposed to have been the best ever if only XYZ didn't happen e.g. Gascoigne, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, George Best, Rooney, Adriano. Maybe they would've, but it's far more likely that they wouldn't, and would just have been slightly better for a bit longer. And even if that were true, Ronaldo could have the perfect level of professionalism, that wasn't going to prevent either his knee from exploding twice or an overactive thyroid making it harder for him to keep weight off. And why is Zidane listed with these guys? He was perfectly professional, he had the best version of his career. Which was much more up and down and inconsistent than people care to remember, particularly at Real Madrid when he was quite poor for long stretches.

Dear Gary/The Rest Is…/Goalhanger media team, I would cordially request that you mirror the social media content posted (it would seem exclusively) on Twitter/X, to other platforms such as Threads, and use you influence within the EPl (English Premier League) and associated clubs/enterprises to do likewise. It seems farcical and hypocritical (in the extreme), to endorse countless initiatives that champion inclusion and combat racism only to require users to frequent a vile cesspit of a social media platform that will guarantee exposure to racist language/memes and, due to a recently tweaked algorithm, lifts far right tropes to the top of any replies. I am an avid consumer of much of ‘The Rest is…’ content so I’m sure you will have had discussions about suitability if Twitter/X as a platform for your content and I trust you will make the right call.
