It was meant to be a joke; the end of the sentence was "...he had a friend for dinner!" I'm from Wildwood, lived there 30+ yrs, my family owned a thriving business there for over 40+. They sold it & moved a few yrs back due to the politics & police corruption. I know damn near everyone down there, and I didn't recognize a soul in that crowd - not a one. My cousin, who still works/lives there, said all of the locals were on the boards booing at the crowd. She said there were about 7 thousand there - tops. They all came & most left really early. Trump tends to play the “telephone game” with himself, where he keeps getting more abstract from one rally to the next. The Hannibal Lecter thing started out as his illustration of the differences between insane asylums and mental institutions, the inmates of which Trump claims the Mexican government is sending over the border into the U.S.. Trump at some point in his never-ending rally tour decided he had to explain why he said both “insane asylums” and “mental institutions.” Mexico is emptying out neither, so it’s a moot point to begin with. Trump’s concept of an insane asylum is based on the one in Silence of the Lambs. Even with the context, his Lecter comments are still pretty damn weird.
