The first time I have experienced warfare I was 15. I opened the door for this through learning about the occult and participating. When I realized that Wicca and all other occult like groups are all connected to Satan, I removed my self from it and told my mom what I was doing. We burned my books and prayed. That night I was woken by the sound of heavy breathing, I had my own room. I felt the heavyweight crawling across my body and I could smell it and I felt it not only on top of my but I felt the breath on my face. It growled in my face. I started praying and my mom was woken up by something telling her to pray for me. As soon as she was done praying I was able to push it off of me and she met me in the hallway. From that moment on I repented and denounced the occult and im now a ordained minister in Christ.

I've had sleep paralysis attacks too, always pinned down/threatened by an evil entity. Mouthing the name of Jesus, even if I can't cry aloud, immediately breaks the choke hold. Spiritual warfare. Make no mistake.

Cant understand the secular Christian, simply because I was not a Christian until I was fully submerged into the reality of the spiritual existence beyond just the physical. When you learn the true Biblical cosmology, when you learn where you're really living, that the structure of what we call home is undoubtably intelligently designed and that the fabric of even our physical reality screams spiritual by nature, then you truly understand that reality is more spiritual than physical. water, fire, light, air, are all spiritual essences and spiritual by nature, not merely physical substance. Dreams, thoughts, prayers, etc spiritual. God is Spirit, his creation is spiritual. When you understand biblical cosmology, it really shows how spiritual this existence is and without a doubt sleep paralysis is spiritual and demonic. You couldn't convince me other wise because I am often attacked especially after I witness to someone. I rebuke them, because we have full authority thanks to Jesus.

Keep fighting for your sobriety and do it with God's grace. Anyone who looks to a "higher power" that is not God doesn't truly heal themselves and is relying on themself for guidance. Yes, starting in our recovery was our choice at some point (for most), but is entirely our choice to stay there. The problem is at some point we had also made the choice to either start using, or at some point, it became our choice to continue to use. We cannot look to ourselves for answers when our solution to our problems was the addiction. The devil has tormented me long enough with my addiction and led me to think I had the answers. Which is how I ended up in the grips of the devil and my addiction once again. It isn't enough to to be sober. To be truly clean from our addition we need to wash ourselves of the past and do it using God and his word. Being humble and handing your life to our Lord God is the start of rebuilding our lives. We can rebuild all that the devil and our weaknesses destroyed. May God Bless you and keep you strong in your fight, and remember you are never alone, he walks with you. God has brought others out of the darkness of addiction and I believe we should use one another as another means of support. The devil will use our weaknesses against us, but they are not weaknesses if we let God guide us.

True story, got home at 2am one Saturday night. A voice in my head says "a demon is waiting for you" . I got so freaked out by that thought I stayed in the living room with the TV and lights on until daylight. Finally went to sleep in my room. Had a strange dream and awoke and I couldn't move body or mouth! An invisible force was in the room. I didn't know what to do but I try to say and mutter "Jesus Christ". I can move my head after that. I say it again, without muttering "Jesus Christ" and boom! This demon is gone from my room! There is total peace in my room. The craziest thing I've ever experienced in my life!!!! So demons are literal, not something esoteric.

In one of the books of Samuel, God sent a evil spirit to torment King Saul, David would play music to give relief to Saul. So this does tie in with what you said about David having songs for those attacked by evil spirits.

Phil Tanics I was in hospital for 5 days touch and go and I know for a 100% fact demons are real. They were there in hospital waiting for me and tormenting me for 5 days and nights straight. The ancient texts are fascinating but they are far from a beautiful tapestry. A beautiful tapestry would have a fine pattern and weave that aligns and agrees with each thread and colour next to it. The bible is a mess of different writers and stories that directly contradict and leave out vital information. It references forgotten books and texts and assumes we know narratives that have been forgotten. Don't get me wrong, I love the study of the bible, these are just my ideas. Feel free to share your thoughts in a reply. :)

I respectfully disagree regarding the Night Terrors. I had three episodes in my early thirties. It was horrible all I could move was my eyes. In my peripheral vision I could see a dark entity. I had night terrors when I was young. I would sleep walk and scream at my family with no idea it happened the next day. When I would hear my family tell me about what happened, it felt as if they were telling me about someone else. Only a few times did I ever remember my dreams. Even though they were seemingly normal dreams, I would be filled with extreme fear. This is demonic. While I have never experienced sleep paralysis myself; It is very clearly also demonic. Everyone should know we were given authority over these spirits by speaking in Jesus's name. You can even find lots of stories from people who weren't Christian and still stop attacks by speaking the name of Jesus.

Respectfully, that 'scientific' explanation for night terrors is a decoy. In my mid twenties I had night terror attacks. Thankfully I called on Jesus that first time. In my blind terror, dispite my biblical ignorance I remembered that by calling on the name of the Lord (Jesus) I would be saved. The dark shadow that was smothering and holding me down lifted. I turned the lights on and began reading Psalm 91 (for comfort, not really understanding what was going on) What was most notable for me was that the lights in my room were on but impossibly dimmed when I started readind and after reading and praising God for half an hour the light in my room was bright and back to normal. Subsequently I spoke to my pastor who spoke to me about renewing my mind through mediating on the Word. He totally changed my reading by route even if I didn't have tools like concordances. Within the a month I had two (I think) other attacks but because I was reading the bible differently while I woke up to not being able to move or open my eyes while being smothered, I didn't skip a beat or panick before I called on Jesus and and then commanded the entity to go. Yes it took saying it internally before I was able to articulate it with my mouth. It took nearly three years before I had my last night terror attack. I was horribly ill and week with bronchitis less than a week after coming back from a ministry trip. I woke to being smothered and being unable to open my eyes or move. I called on Jesus a few times before I could open my eys and realised there were three entities this time and they were holding me down, only having just started to articulate the name of Jesus I was able to start moving my boby to fight the entities as I now loudly began to call on Jesus and command them to leave me and get out. After thanking God, I went to wake the only other person in the house, who tried to assure me that I had a nightmare. In the morning I woke to three burn marks on my right thigh where one entity had grabbed ahold of me and one burn mark on my right upper arm. One of the ones on my thigh oozed for a few days and the burms took a week to heal and disappear.

The way he said deliverance ministry sounded "different". I've witnessed thousands delivered, made whole,healed in the past seven years It's a huge part of the ministry of Jesus! It's also an awesome authority to have available in your ministry. 15 people healed of stage 4 cancers by addressing it as a generational curse. They and their families certainly believe.

Mike, you mentioned you believe the night paralysis thing, and that you think it's biological, not spiritual. I can guarantee it is spiritual. As a Christian, I had gotten into some sinful behavior, and the demonic had a field day with me, especially at night. Besides the paralysis, which happened multiple times, I also had many repetitive dreams where Satan was levitating me and trying to pull me out of my body. One night, just as this started again, something hugely powerful confronted the demon causing this nightmare, terrifying it and it 'ran' thru my head and into my chest. I was wide awake. I had to be in the spirit, because the 3D world was outweighed by the presence of the spiritual realm I was able to experience. I was absolutely shocked by this experience. And here's something for other Christians who don't understand their authority in Christ: Altho I didn't believe I was worthy, due to the sin/addiction in my life, I've nightly asked the Lord to cleanse my home and guard me while I sleep. After years of these terrible dreams, they all stopped, including the paralysis episodes and the demonic in my room.

Saul, after his rebellious activity against the express command of God was troubled - afflicted by an evil spirit. Saul's servanst suggested (under divine inspiration I believe) that they look for a man who is skillful to play the harp and the evil spirit will leave you. Saul agreed. Then one of his servants said that there was a young man who was very skillful and a warrior, comely, and wise AND the LORD is with him. So Saul sent his servants to fetch the young man - David - ben Jesse. And because "God was with him " David's playing with his hands on the harp sent the evil spirit out. This is a very clear picture in the OT of our Lord. Peter says to the household of Cornelius that Jesus of Nazareth went about healing all who were oppressed of the devil because God was with HIm. jesus Himself said that he casts out demons with the finger of God. David played the harp with his fingers. It is all a wonderful parallel. 1 Sam 16; Acts 10:38; Luke 11:20

Farrah COLLINS, Michael Heiser’s podcast Terror By Night in Psalm 91, Old Testament Demons, at 18-26 minutes, talks about how the arrow of Psalm 91:5 probably refers to the Canaanite demon Rephesh, a plague god who shoots arrows. Also, the pestilence and the destruction of 91:6, in the Hebrew, are actually names of Canaanite gods Dever and Qetev, both demonic entities of destruction. In Psalm 76:3, Job 5, Ezekiel 5:16 and Habakkuk 3, these entities are cringing underlings trailing God in order to be instruments of judgment.

As soon as you said sleep paralysis is a biological or medical condition I started to write about my sleep paralysis experiences in the comments. When I finished I started to read other people's comments and the first 5 comments from people was the same as mine. That sleep paralysis is not biological or medical, that it's a spiritual phenomenon and that it is strongly related and tied to demonic attacks. Not sure how you've missed the boat on this one Dr. Heiser, or at least I'm confused with your conclusion of sleep paralysis. I guess nothing beats experiencing something to know that it's real. This is spiritual warfare on the frontlines, you know there is a fight for your very soul. I've heard demonic tongues that give my friends chills when i tell them about some of my demonic attack experiences. I feel that for your own personal credibility and reputation, you are choosing to play it safe when it comes to this topic by agreeing with science, yet you know demons are real.

I concur with your statement exactly. I haven't watched this vid yet as I am reading the comments first. Though I was really hoping that Mr. Heiser had a handle on this. But I suppose you have to experience this for oneself. If you've never had these experiences then your experience and understanding comes just from a text book. That's not enough to have the definitive truth conclusion. Sorry. From my own experience sleep paralysis is a spiritual phenomenon. Which started after I turned to God. I've experienced this phenom many times until I called on Jesus. The demons backed off then just use dreams, which they still do and now have little impact on me except for some sleep issues. I've had lots of experience with demons even during the day time. I now give their activity little regard. Other than why it happens. God can let demons attack you to keep you on your spiritual toes and to teach you to repentance and relying on God totally. I'm a stubborn fellow but I love God. I'm still working at it. This is what I believe is my case. I'm probably not alone on this.

DR Heiser you are wrong on these attacks at night!! I was touched and physically attacked in my room for three nights and I wasnt even asleeo!! I had just laid down to try and go to sleep. I dont sleep well due to pain and spine issues so I can lay there for hours before I can. anyhow I was touched, grabbed is more like it and i jumped up and turned light on and no one was in my room. Lights back off lay back down and then i feel crawling on my bed and touched again, this time i jumo out of bed and onto the floor on my face and call out for Yeshua Ha'Mashiach and it stopped for the night. This happened for 3 days and one of the grabs was on my private area and when i jumped excepting to see my husband he wasnt there, i call him and hes an hour away at work!!! That was the night I gave the pain and trauma i was working though to yeshua right there on the floor. I gave it all to him, no more trying to let go and give it to him finally, I just did and it hasnt happened since. I think youre trying to skirt around saying demons are real. They are real and once you deal with it yourself you will know. I will also say my son saw my mother after she passed, for a couple weeks. Now my son was on 3 and he didnt know no better. He would tell me, "grandma played with me today mommy" or "grandma was on my bed today" and when i asked him what he was doing because i knew it wasnt my mom he was seeing, he said he was playing on the floor with his toys. Then one day, the last day before I prayed up and down every hallway throwing holy water everywhere and anointing the doorposts of every room in the house, he told me he was playing with his toys on his bed and grandma just showed up by the bed, I asked him where did she come from and he said he didnt know. you could see he was trying to explain what happened but he was barely 3 and didnt know how to. I asked what happened next if she did anything to him. he said he tried to go hug her and when he went to hug her (put his arms around her- thats what he did to me to show me since he couldnt explain it, i told him to show me as if i was her standing there) and she went away he said. I asked what you mean she went away, how? like walked away or just poof gone. He said gone, gone mommy. I freaked out and thats when i did all the blessings and declared this a house of the Lord. How do you explain to a 3yr old that that wasnt his grandma?! He has no memory of it now, hes 11 now and im thankful he doesnt remember. having that be so close to my son scared me to death. He would sleep with me at night so this all happended in the day time when he was wide awake and so was I!!! So i call garbage that its a mental thing or heath thing. youre going to tell me my son made that up when he had no knowledge on how to do so! Even the days previous to this I felt a presence in the front corner by my front door at bottom of staircase. This was the night of my moms passing. The moment I felt it, my dog ran off the couch and over to the corner of the house and growled in the exact area I felt it. Like i didnt even have time to react before the dog did. I may point out the dog was my moms service dog that I kept when she passed. My mom also passed away upstairs in my daughters room. There was something there. A few mins later I get a phone call from my sister who was in a different state and wouldnt you know, she had the EXACT same thing happen to her at her home. I was listening to her tell me her story and then I said, "that literally just happened here by the front door and emma is going crazy growling there now in the corner at it!" We both couldnt have experienced the same thing in different states if it was a mental or health issue causing it. come on now. My kids had terrible night terrors as kids. I never did but they both did my daughter until she was about 11 yrs old and my sons ended when I got right with the LORD 100 percent and stopped being a warm christian. his ended he was about 5. There is something to that. I opened doors before that that i didnt understand and I know it effected not only me in ways, but my kids and husband- our household. The chains got broken when I realized that 8 years ago and stopped openign those doors when i learned what I was unknowingly was doing. Funny how that is spiritual not biological. it ceased completely for both of them. They never rememebered the terrors by morning time or when i woke them up. They would be terrified when i woke them up, scared out of their minds. It would be most nights and at times my sons lips would be turning blue like someone was choking him. You will never tell me it wasnt spiritual when it took Yeshua to make it stop for good.. How to help others that I come across with this issue. most info out there say use sage and prayers, but using sage is a pagan practice! Something i must admit i used after the dog growling in the corner because i didnt know it was pagan. thats why i switched to holy water i got from the catholic church up the street and oil and said prayers. Well... I used to suffer from sleep paralysis and sleepwalking since childhood. I felt the terror and fear of that presence whenever I went to bed while being entirely paralyzed. One of my family members used to practice “Santeria” at my grandmothers house but it was normal for me to witness that because I knew no better. This is more common than I thought. I've had it happen also. I've had dreams that calling out for Jesus stops it since I became a Christian. There was no Internet back then. Almost all religious pantheons mention darkness and negative spiritual influences. It’s part of the laws of this universe. The law of opposites. Yin Yang etc. Hindu Pantheons have demons as well defeated by Gods and Goddesses. It’s important to do protection prayers and mantras as well. I have had sleep paralysis once before. I was laying face down. I could have swore I felt pressure pushing me down into the bed. Also it seemed everything was getting darker like a black veil covering me. That’s the best I can describe it. Could have been a dream but felt real. I prayed for Jesus to help and immediately it went away.

That’s not what I meant. 😀 It was not a critique of him. I appreciate his work very much. I have read several of his books and attended The Naked Bible Conference in Texas this summer. Dr. Heiser is a true scholar. He quotes from several books that are not considered canonical, because the authors of the Bible did. Paul quoted from Greek poets in Acts 17:28. And there are many other places where the Biblical authors did that. I just wondered if the numbering was off compared to the MT. That was the case for Psalm 91. It was Psalm 90 in my Greek Septuagint. By the way, the Biblical authors of the NT often quote from the Greek Septuagint.

I'm gonna pray for you just for asking the question. One of the modern greats for casting out demons is Derrick Prince. There's plenty of good topic videos from him related to your question here on KZbin. In short: Oppression could physically make you fatigued/lazy/unmotivated and mess with sleep including dreams, emotionally make you sad/depressed/agitated/short/removed, and spiritually leave you empty or drained. Possession signs could include physical things like cuts/scratches/bumps/bruises/hives that you have no idea how they got there, hyper-emotional whether it's sad/angry/hateful/ or even loving, and spiritually separate from God, at least during the times of active possession. The spirit of Christmas is one common evil spirit prevalent in our world today. So is the spirit of lust, the spirit of anger, the spirit of pride, and so on. We all battle with spirits all the time whether we're consciously aware of it or not. There's plenty more on your question, but I think the next logical question and more important one is: How do you cast out evil spirits? I shall look into that information, it’s about time the medical profession started looking into the spiritual aspect of one’s illness like depression or addiction instead of handing out pills that just mask the problem. It’s true I’ve battled depression for some years now and had such a run of bad luck I toyed with the idea that this “toxic” feeling could maybe be a form of oppression. Now that’s a scary thought. Having an open mind about paranormal topics or the supernatural/spiritual aspect It’s a path I’m willing to look into. Demons according to Enoch are the disembodied eternal spirits of the hybrid race of giants. God cursed them to roam on the earth with hunger, thirst, etc. As child and in my young adulthood I was tormented by sleep paralysis and by what is commonly known in many cultures as duende, leprechaun, aluxe, I also been diagnosed as bipolar. I struggled all of my life and if I would of known about their influence, I could of avoided a lot of self inflicted harm. Now the damage is done but I feel more confident that I can retrain my mind to recognize the patterns that can cause me to loose my grasp. I no longer take meds, I know now that it was a demonic influence an no longer have to deal with that but the years of unhealthy behavior has made me an unsuitable case. There is no need to fear them. It Is not recognizing them that can bring suffering to a person.

There's not, but as someone who's had some brushes with spiritual warfare, I'd advise you not to go into that line of reasoning. The Bible is sufficient for your arming against the forces of darkness. You don't need to have incredible knowledge of what you're fighting to do it; you just need to be empowered by God. Recognizing the character of evil is better than trying to identify evil characters.

Sorry to hear . Tragic. I too only had it once and it was after I gave me life to Jesus and it was DEFINITELY DEMONIC! The presence of complete evil entered my dream just after I went lucid in it. Then I fully awoke , paralyzed and seeing the demon flying around the room . As soon as it went into the wall, it was freed . Wasn’t scared though because I had heard of this before and because i had just met God and we were tight! I just watched it , KNOWING it couldn’t harm me and that God had my back. Thank u Jesus . Strong's Concordance. Accept no substitutes. You'll go very far with a Strong's and a KJV. Pick up a copy of the Masoretic Text, and a Greek Textus Receptus, and you'll be very well equipped for any type of Biblical study you'll be led to. EDIT: I bring up the KJV because of great synergy with Strong's Concordance. You can use other translations; I use the GNT for things that are hard to understand in the KJV. However, the KJV/Strong's/Masoretic/Textus Receptus combo is really powerful.
