My only exposure to God back in France where I grew up was the Jesus of Nazareth movie in the 80s. That planted the only seed. I was a little kid in an atheistic family but I couldn't forget how Jesus was killed. Now I love Him and worship Him with my life. My Saviour, my God 🥰

I found the late Dr Michael Heiser only a few months ago and the documentary The Unseen Realm REALLY connected many dots for me. I've attended a very good Bible believing Evangelical Free Church for over thirty years now and received excellent expository teaching. This is frosting on the cake!!. Mike has no more questions. ❤❤

I can't believe there are only 1-2 comments here that are more recent than a year or two. Always enjoy listening to brother Michael, I've heard every one of his podcasts and several seminars but not this interview; thanks for posting. I still miss him, he had become a regular voice in my life through his podcasts; although I never met him, I regard him as a close friend. I'm sure he is now privy to Devine Council meeting. It must be something to have your life's work confirmed in absolute terms; we will see you soon brother, thank you for everything.

"Indoctrination" is sooo right! I have discovered more about the scriptures since God has taken me out of the "church" system. I got nothing - NOTHING - for all the years spent in "church". Sad, really. I've shared with select people what I've discovered in the scriptures, and they've always asked me "how did you get that?". My response "I let the scriptures speak for themselves". Most Christians read the Bible through their pastor's/favorite preacher's glasses, and what they know is simply a regurgitation of what they've been taught. Their minds have been hijacked, controlled, and the growth of their faith stunted.

I'm a Koinonia House member. I started seriously delving into the Bible a couple years ago when "KZbin" suggested one of Derek Prince's video lectures. From there I started in on Billy Graham -- whom I was familiar with. Then "KZbin" suggested one of Dr. Chuck Missler's lectures, then Dr. Heiser. It's been a ride, and I've loved every minute of it! Even KZbin does the Lord's work! ;)

Personally, I don’t believe in “theological voids.” God set it up for anyone who needs understanding to eventually find it in His Word. While reading scripture if you get stumped on the meaning of a passage, set it aside and keep reading. The word is so potent that the parts that you do understand are enough. It’s a lifetime study. The requirements for salvation are minimal. There are many in heaven that can’t even read.

I am a Pentecostal believer, and a minister in the Church of God, Cleveland, TN. I have always been a student of the scriptures, and I am pursuing an academic degree(s) because I believe God has called me to teach. So what I’m about to say needs to be understood in that light. My “guilty pleasure” has been Ancient Aliens, Bigfoot, and when I worked nights, I’d listen to George Nory on Coast to Coast AM. I did not listen because I’m secretly a believer; it’s all for entertainment. Guys like the AA personalities place so much faith in these extravagant theories, rather than trusting God. It’s like an atheist having more faith that a random cosmic accident created everything. They’d rather believe anything but God. Yet what a mission field! Dr. Heisler is so correct that these folks are primed for the supernatural. Keep doing what you are doing, Doctor!

This is the best interview with Dr Michael Heiser that I have listened to. I liked hearing about why he speaks at UFO conferences and writes scrpiture-bssed fiction in this genre. Heiser is humble, humorous, and clearly has a Christ-like heart for others to come to know God and understand their purpose and God's plan for them. Praise and thanks to our One True God for working through your humble, obedient son, Michael S Heiser, to help bring others home through his expounding of the Scriptures! 🙌 I greatly appreciate the chapter divisions, as well. This brought tears to my eyes. I am 59 years old and all my life I have felt like a stranger in any congregation I have been a part of. I am not a smart person but I have always had this intuitive sense that scripture is not being properly understood in regards to whom God is and our relationship to him. I do not have Dr. Michael Heiser intelect but somehow over the years came to many of the same conclusions. My heart aches for the church to try digging much deeper. I feel so lonely at church.

Finally. I have looked all over the place for someone who could give me some idea of HOW to think about the Bible, rather than WHAT to think about the Bible. And I think he's correct when he says that we can't look at big, unusual events for answers; most of the lessons I get are in very small ways. God doesn't yell; He speaks in a whisper so we have to pay close attention. And I don't ask Him to fix things; I just ask that he help me get through all of it.

In my Vampire books (eg Vampire Count: Hidden Dragon), I suggest that the divinities (Zeus, Odin, Ra, etc) were primitive Guardians to guide the nations in their charge, a charge put down as messianic light shines through. I also suggest evil Powers in conflict. C S Lewis loved the richness of the myths, more colourful than biblical stories, but came to see them as dimlight, myth finally becoming fact in the incarnation.

Christy, you should explore that theme further. It's funny how society and religions downplay the stories of other ancient cultures (that don't fit their paradigm). There is much more to this! Research the Sumerian, Akkadian and Babylonian gods. You will see some very interesting parallels! One of those being that all of these "gods" interacted with the everyday people of these cultures!

@Kevin Belgrove I don't argue with anything you have stated. One fact is overlooked, however. When the text references calling upon someone's name or using someone's name, it does not mean letters on a page. It means calling upon their character. Using the name Jesus does not change the character of the Messiah. Same with the name of God. We do not have to be 100% with what His name actually is on paper or in our mouths to use His character the correct way.

I wonder if God d is trying to get me to do something!

A better question would be, "Why the modern obsession with pastors?" The word "pastor(s)" occurs once only in the entire New Testament, in Ephesians 4:11, where it says their purpose is to equip the saints for service for building up the Body of Christ, which probably 99% of pastors are not doing. The point is, that the modern concept of pastor-led churches is simply not biblical.

1. The reason he explains everything from an ANE worldview is because it was written by ANE people in an ANE culture during the ANE time period. THAT WAS THE BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW. Where in the Bible does it demonstrate a 21st Century worldview? How can you take 2nd millennial BC through 1st. century AD manuscripts from the ancient Near East and say they shouldn't be interpreted in that context (3:06 mark above)? Are you really trying to say that the ANCIENT Israelites were really writing to a 21st Century audience and not for themselves? The hubris of so-called Christians today really astounds me. It's all about our time period, right? It couldn't possibly be meant for those in the time period in which the material was actually written. Gee, if that's the case, then why didn't God have them use more modern words like the Internet; iPods; Twitter, microwave ovens, ad nausea. 2. In the OT, the term "Satan" was defined as "messenger"; it was basically a job title not a proper name. 3. It wasn't until the second temple period that term began to morph into the name of the chief adversary. You have obviously not listened to much of his teachings and are taking him out of context. The questions you claim he hasn't answered or things he's failed to explain are, in fact, explained in his book, Unseen Realm and through his 5-part Unseen Realm Seminar right here on KZbin. If the academic version is too difficult for you to read and understand, get the less academic, shortened version under the title "Supernatural". BIBLICAL SCHOLARS ALREADY KNOW ALL THIS INFORMATION -- THIS VIEW IS NOT UNIQUE TO DR. HEISER. If you read his book, Unseen Realm, Dr. Heiser states that none of the material in his book is original to him. It is material that is the consensus of biblical scholars across the board. We don't hear about it because it's kept in scholarly/academic circles. Pastors don't have access to it unless they go to graduate school and specialize in it. Dr. Heiser specifically states on page 20 of his book that it is a synthesized version of all the peer-reviewed research of biblical scholars which he (Dr. Heiser) had done. He has collected that information and produced the book from that. His bibliography is nearly as long as the book and had to be listed on a separate website because the publisher refused to include the complete bibliography. Therefore, Dr. Heiser developed a separate website to provide the reader with the complete bibliography on moreunseenrealm.com chapter by chapter. You don't have to just take Dr. Heiser's word for this material -- check out the bibliography listing the major biblical scholars who regularly talk, write, and teach this very same information.

We listen to him ??? DR. This requires having a relationship with the Holy Spirit, first, ,, ,,,, ,,,,, Before a believer signs up at a Bible school,,,. Naturally, the pastor doesn't like getting questions that he can't answer. He might try LOOKING for an answer and getting back to you later, but the admission would embarrass him. Better just to side-step the issue. Being dismissive of questions by parishioners really is a kind of sin, but it's often one that they are too often willing to commit with impunity.

"And again, are these demons (supposedly entities from hybrids) UNDER Satan's leadership, or independent? If independent, HOW can that be?!?! He would destroyed them by now, or they would be fighting all the time. " Hi there. I'd just like to comment on that by posing a question: does Satan have the power to destroy other evil spiritual entities? I don't believe he does! Only God does. When Jesus confronted "Legion" and those demons asked not to be sent into the abyss, they clearly recognised that HE HAD THE POWER AND AUTHORITY to do that! I do not believe Satan has authority over the "lives" of demons. After all, God the Creator gave them life, and he decides when they will be destroyed. According to Revelation 12, there is certainly a bunch of "angels" that followed the devil in rebellion. But if you look at the context, this particular rebellion happened AFTER the rebellion of the watchers spoken about in Genesis 6. Those watchers have been punished by God already (Jude 6, 2 Peter 2:4) and are bound until the time of judgment. What we learn about demons in the New Testament is that they do not have a body of their own. They are also called evil spirits or unclean spirits. So they are clearly different from the angels (whether holy or evil) in that angels do have celestial bodies. They usually appear as men in the Bible (for example, the angels that visit Lot and the ones that appeared to the women at the tomb of Jesus, or the one that rescued Peter from prison.

I have learned a lot from Michael Heiser. I am so especially grateful to have learned about the two powers from him. How could I have read my Bible so many times and never seen what he pointed out? However, he also has left out many questions that most theologians aren’t answering for us. At least not those in mainstream Christianity. For example, when they say that the Sabbath has been changed, based on some verses from Paul, who never even said the Sabbath was changed to Sunday, they never answer the question of where Paul would’ve gotten the authority to change the longest commandment, written in stone with the very finger of the Creator. And in relation to Paul (really a pseudo Paul) they never deal with the verses in the Bible which emphatically and clearly tell us more than once not to add to Scriptures or subtract from them. So, how then can they cite Paul, erroneously actually, as being an authority who had the right to change a commandment, or anything at all ordained by the Lord? Where is that written? OK Paul had a miraculous experience on the road to Damascus. Even raised the dead. Others have done as much or more. But they didn’t have the right to change the sabbath and neither did he. Though, again, he never actually said that it was changed at all. Why don’t theologians quote the Father or the Son saying that the fourth commandment has been changed? Well, the answer is obvious. Because neither of them ever said it was changed! At Mount Sinai the Almighty AUDIBLY spoke the 10 Commandments to the terror of the Israelites below. He said that he will not alter what has gone out of his MOUTH. But the mainstream theologians don’t explain to us how it could be that he audibly said the Sabbath was from Friday evening to Saturday evening, and yet somehow, he was later untrue to his spoken words. There are so many other areas were main stream Christianity has theologians who are not addressing vital scriptural issues. But, again, I am grateful for what I have learned from Michael Heiser, where he sticks to the truth of Scriptures.

I listen often to Mike Heiser. I want to caution you all to be careful not to become a disciple of any one's full body of teaching. God is not growing little Michael Heisers, but rather children made in the image of his son. Listen, ask questions and consult your own study with your pastoral leaders. Ask, seek and knock of the Holy Spirit, your paraclete. I.e : helper, comforter, teacher, guide into all truth. Mike rauses good issues; consider and research diligently, but don't camp out there. Seek the Lord and walk with Him. Ephesians 1:17-23. In Jesus are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Colossians 2:2-3 Let Mike Heiser be a catalyst to your pursuit of the Lord, not the substance of it. I say this because really if you think about it the church as you and I know it, if you've been around it for very long, you realize that everybody is a disciple of somebody, whether Calvin, Wesley, or you fill in the blank with the name of some man whom God has used to teach others. But no one has all the truth do they? So why take the whole bait, line, and sinker from just one teacher? If we seek God he will teach us all that we need to know.
