Kind of disappointed that the entire interview was staged & devoid of any spontaneity. It defeats the entire purpose of it being broadcast live.

Live does not mean improvised. E.g a concert is live but it is not improvised. Hundreds of hours of practice go into a concert. Without basic practice Michael could have sat on the completely wrong chair on the opposite end of the room and Oprah would have had to scoot her butt all the way over to him making a very loud scraping noise with the chair and maybe she would be huffing and puffing before she even got the chance to ask her rude and overly personal questions.
