I remember having a backstage pass to one of the interviews he was on. I was only 14. Anyways, he came offstage, and saw me. And I must of made a fool of myself, because I burst into tears, knowing that he was going to die. And he came over, and put his hand on my shoulder and said his quote, "Remember me with smiles and laughter", and I really tried to stop crying. I nodded and put on my best smile, then I could see that he was tearing up just a bit. That was the best and worst day of my entire life, and I will treasure it forever.

Michael said in this E.T. interview that when something happens to you like this ( cancer ) you look at every moment differently. This is so true because last year I was told that I had cancer of the bladder. After the shock wore off I also began to look at life and people differently. So many resentments vanished and I realized that it is all about LIFE and how you live it and treat other people. I am happy to report that after 40 some radiation treatments along with many ciemo treatments the cancer is gone. They told me that I was a very lucky man. Lucky ! That's hardly the word for it. During my recovery I prayed to my own personal God and God must be here because here I am to share this story. God bless us all.

I am 66 and I grew up watching Michael Landon and I was shocked when he got so sick and died not long after, but after learning at just how much he smoked and drank over the course of his life, I can now understand what happened to him. We never saw him smoking on his hit TV shows, but he supposedly smoked up to three packs a day; what's more, Patrick Swayze did virtually the same thing! I grew up in an era in which smoking was all over the place. When our relatives would get together for visits, clouds and clouds of smoke drifted from room to room for hours. Heavy smoking killed most of my loved ones. It breaks my heart to see so many teenagers picking up the smoking habit.

Not trying to be a jerk, but I don't know how else to say this. If you do an image search for him, and get a high resolution image, he didn't have very healthy looking skin. Absolutely looks like the skin of someone who smoked a lot. His upbeat personality, snappy dressing, and full head of hair kind of covered up some of it for the cameras, especially for TV back when everything was shot in low resolution.

Totally agree. It was good 'clean' entertainment... It was a breath of fresh air - a nice refreshing change from the ever-present theme for TV entertainment these days of 'who can get into who's bed, and how many times'. Little House had actual stories to them - and to tell the truth I suspect a lot, if not all, of the women watching also fantasized about having a 'perfect' husband and father to their kids as Charles Ingalls was. Who wouldn't? He was everything that most women want in a man! RIP Michael

I'm watching re-runs right now of Highway to Heaven. That's obviously what brought me here. However, what most folks don't know about him was that he was a VERY spiritual man. He believed in family unity and that was shown on "Little House On The Prairie". His spiritual being came in the form of "Highway to Heaven". It's unfortunate that we don't have TV shows like these two in today's day and age. Because if there was ever a need for them it's now. Especially, with the way our world is right now. So THANK YOU Michael for bringing these TV shows into our lives and homes. They were truly inspirational and there messages were profound. God bless.

His performances are great, and a lot of his programmes too (although one bizarre H2H episode I watched recently has him bashing a Christian school for wanting to teach Christianity. It's called "the Silent Bell" in cxase you're wondering)... and his good side comes out through the performances but he was reportedly a heavy drinker, adulterer etc off screen and wasn't that spiritual at all. Jesus Christ commanded the fear of God: “I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more. But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after your body has been killed, has authority to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him.” Luke 12:4-5 King Solomon summarized all his thoughts about the meaning of life upon this earth, through mans’ bustling about, heaping up wealth, but only in vain...and all the other things done by man, under the sun...through wisdom he concluded: “When all has been heard, the conclusion of the matter is this: Fear God and keep His commandments, because this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, along with every hidden thing, whether good or evil.” Ecclesiastes 12:13-14

Cher Michael. Merci.

God still makes men like him every day, but the world corrupts most of them. Michael Landon had a way of blocking out and not allowing the world to influence his mind. Where can one find a man like him these days?
@MadMax-dr6mf6 жыл бұрын
No, that's crap and you know it. Character has nothing to do with the general spirit of the times per se. It's all up to the individual and setting ones own standards. If times are harder, and people worse in general, then that should make a striving individual stronger, with even better character.

Charles Ingalls lives on in many men that admired the character. Many of us grew up modeling that character.

Michael was such a talented , sexy, and handsome man. He was so brave. I can't believe he died within 3 months. Everything he says is true. It can happen to anyone at any time. When my granddaughter was a week old, I began cancer treatment. I prayed for God to allow me a little more time to watch her grow awhile. I wanted to see her grow and see what she would look like and know a little about her personality. It has been 3 1/2 years and I feel very fortunate. So while everyone complains, argues, and hates, life is far too short. God bless you, Michael. I am sorry for your suffering. ❤️🌹❤️

James Henderson , That is just being human. My favorite Beatle, George Harrison smoked all his life and died of cancer, when he was 58 years old. It is sad to think of all the talent and all we are going to miss from them. It is strange that George's son said the last thing George said was, "Love one another." That's what Michael told his family too. I hate to think of the suffering cancer patients go through. Back in the 60's people smoked on the television all the time. What a shame.

My mom died of Pancreatic cancer this past May. Healthiest person you ever saw. Did not have any of the risk factors. Was not a drinker or a smoker and she ate very healthy. She was also an avid exerciser. We will never understand how she got such a rare cancer. She lived just six months after her diagnosis. She had a positive attitude until the very end.

Hard to watch even 27 yrs later. After spending 9 yrs working with him, the shock of his death still hurts my heart. He was so vibrant & had the body of someone a lot younger. Unfortunately he did have a few people who worked for him at the time of his death, who didn't hear his message of "love one another". Their karma though. He sure made going to work something to look forward to. Lots of laughter. & that gift is priceless. Thank you Michael, you are missed.

I have been watching reruns of Bonanza and some of Little House on the Prairie. What I love about that TV series, and also about Michael Landon, is the integrity of the characters, the kindness, compassion and helpfulness that Little Joe and Ben and Hoss showed consistently in these stories. I feel that M's focus on creating another positive, uplifting show set in America's historical past, and similar themes of good people & family values, it surely reflects on the personal values of the producer or director himself. Apple doesn't fall far from the tree. I was really saddened by his early death; it was a loss to all of his fans, and those of us who like such good upright TV shows of bygone days. THAT he smoked cigarettes, I didn't know about this, until now. I guess I would say "so what"; everyone has some faults, and that was his. A great majority of folks smoked in the 40s 50s and 60s etc. and (look at all the movies or TV shows with cigs hanging out of people's mouths. That was the way it was, until people woke up. I was always against smoking, from the get go. What he did and who he was, was admirable, as was the shows he participated in. Wish we had more leading characters like him and the other Bonanza men! Susan C.

He really did produce some great shows, if we ever need quality films like the ones he produced, it's today more than ever. Hollywood producers today put out nothing but pure garbage. They have no imagination what so ever. Where in the hell are all the good ones, maybe dead? They don't help this crazy world with the dirty rotten garbage they are producing today !!!!!!!!
