ThunderBasketball22 it’s not a matter of boredom. There must be an ounce of reality to this. In a real fight if you’re just sitting there for more than a few seconds you are a target from an enemies friends striking you with a bat or gun. I’ve do BJJ for recreation and love it but just like wrestling in my past it has its time and place. Fights on the streets are not honorable. If you were to do a leg lock on me and I got out a small knife and started cutting into your leg. Would you stay with it, or let go, or let go and cry out “not fair”. It’s the one thing wrestling adopted long ago. The action must move forward

Infelizmente as finalizações ficaram para os ambientes internos das academias. Nos treinos cotidianos temos rolas mais interessantes do que os que vemos nos campeonatos pelo mundo. Não é culpa dos atletas que nessa modalidade de disputa priorizam conquistar as vantagens, os pontos, e deixar o tempo correr sem a necessidade de buscar a finalização na luta. Cada coisa no seu lugar é verdade, mas o jiu jitsu está nos campeonatos anos luz de distância daquilo que é sua essência ou seja; finalizar o oponente. Se alguém me pergunta o que acho de campeonatos eu sempre respondo: lá vc vai ver atletas correndo atrás de pontos e vantagens que são os elementos que garantem a vitória ali naquele momento. Agora se quer ver o jiu jitsu na essência, com disputa de finalização, jogo aberto e pra frente, visite uma academia e se apaixone.

Eu amo o Jiu Jitsu porque é uma arte marcial que está em constante evolução, ela absorve influências de quaisquer outras artes marciais, moldando e transformando em novas estratégias de luta competitiva e defesa pessoal. Ótima luta, percebi que o atleta americano, neutralizou de o jogo do myao que no caso é o berimbolo com suas variações, apenas laçando seu pé porque dessa forma o brasileiro não consegue ângulo para girar e pegar a costa do americano! Ótima estratégia, parabéns ao jiu-jitsu esportivo oss!

And the majority of IBJJF black belts don't know any street applicable self defense which is sad. Carlos Gracie Jr who owns and operates Gracie Barra (MCDOJOS of the world) also owns the IBJJF which should tell you something right there. It sickens me to see that the art that Grandmaster Helio Gracie fought so hard to preserve as a form of self defense has become so saturated with sport Jiu Jitsu. On the streets there are no time limits, no weight classes, no rules, and no points. If you are a black belt reading this and don't know how to close the distance, escape a headlock on the ground or on the wall, chokes from behind, and weapons disarmament just to name a few then you should not be a black belt.

These guys are lighter so they don’t have the same breaking power as heavy weights. Plus Miyaos ankles have no ligaments - they are already broken in prior matches and he cannot walk well, so Mikee would need more leverage to fully dislocate and /or break the ankle from tibia fibula.. it’s happened in higher weight classes where the foot snaps 360 from toe hold but miyaos have a knack for avoiding breaking pressure… to be honest I don’t they ll tap to any joint lock and others have had to put them asleep

I'm glad the rule set has nothing to do with what the spectator thinks. Changing the rules for the spectator has crippled the UFC. Sure it's entertaining, but it's no longer realistic.

In terms of realism though, they'd have to allow head butts, eye gouges, groin strikes, biting, kicking a downed opponent, not have rounds, and not have weight classes. The stand ups seem like a pretty minor factor by comparison, and are actually pretty rare.

Trying to break ankles with already destroyed/missing joint architecture and ligaments is probably a different proposition altogether. I've heard that the Miayo brothers don't exactly walk normally, feet flop all over the place because they've let their ligaments and joints be torn rather than tap out. Maybe that's an urban legend I don't know, but it's conceivable that tapping a Miayo with a foot lock is a more formidable challenge than is usual for the submission.
