Thank you for uploading this. When I was at La Cambe the flowers and presents on his grave stone gave me a funny feeling tbh.
@WolfgangHistorica2 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment. People constantly leave flowers, caps, photos, plants, candles, money etc. at his grave however the caretaker of the cemetery always removes it. Sadly, his grave has been already stolen various times as well, so now he and his crew gravestones are cemented into the ground.

@@WolfgangHistorica I’m the LAH StuG guy btw 😜
@WolfgangHistorica2 ай бұрын
Most interestingly, the periscope he used on his Tiger was one from his StuG days! Apparently, it was his favorite. There's a letter of Ahrens requesting Wittmann to come to his command post to pick-up the periscope he requested for. This periscope still exists.

@@WolfgangHistorica The Scheren-Periskop which was standard on StuGs but not on tanks? That’s interesting. Many former StuG guys did that after the were transferred to the Panzers.

Excellent video, I have just got home from a 2 week visit to Normandie, which included a visit to the German War Cemetary where Wittmann and his crew are buried.

Thanks for the compliment. Did you also visit Villers-Bocage and where they were KIA?
