I don't know if this is right, but maybe you can explain it. I can't get my head wrapped around the theory with the larger chords. The only thing I can figure out is that everything works in the context of non-Reimannian theory. I can move one or two notes a half-tone up or down each time to make a new chord that resolves, if I avoid moving either the 3rd and 7th or the root and the fifth. But that seems like I'm cheating, I'm not getting much in the way of options out of that limited algorithm. Can you direct me to a better source for studying what to do next beyond the obvious I IV V or ii V I patterns?

Michael, I’m gonna try to jog your memory. You did a guitar clinic for my store (AB Stephens) in Huntsville, Al. many years ago and I introduced you to our local guitar phenom. He was a short little black man who went by the nickname “Spanky” He was an incredible jazz guitarist who seemed to know a thousand chords. You guys got together and played before the clinic and you liked him so much that you got him a Washburn 335 hollowbody and a partial endorsement. Hope you remember. I haven’t seen Spanky in years. Hope you and him are both doing well. Sincerely, Devin

its great to see a metal player that finally drift to musical harmony , personally i dont care bout picking fast like crazy, cause there is so much you can do with a technique , and it will often sound like a exercise or a scale up and down. Here he is pointing the key notes from one chord to another or 2-5-1 or 1-6-2-5 . From there you can do a lot and i am really happy he shows this to metal player, cause they will learn the power of music harmony . Great job, you get the point across 🍻

*Hello Michael. I had to click on this video, because I love jazz as well as Metal, since I grew up listening to Metal in the 80's. The other reason for watching is, I have never seen you play Jazz. Through out the years of playing guitar, I have been trying to piece together what I know about music theory like a puzzle. Reading and watching videos, getting those aha moments along the way. To me it's like another language and/or art form. Watching you play and explaining jazz chords and how to practice complicated chord stretches is really great information. Thanks for the lessons. Stay safe and keep Rockin'!*

@@MichaelAngeloBatioOfficial I really appreciate what you are doing. You are sharing your gift with people. That to me is what it's all about, it's easy to find joy in giving. Those who keep it to themselves lose it, but when we give away what's been freely given to us we are one with the force.. and it comes back even greater. In a humble way I criticized one of your videos due to length and material. This video corrected those issues and it shows me how driven you are. I believe you can reach your goals and with the talent, skills, and proven accomplishments you bring to the table I can only see it headed in one direction from here. You're leaving behind something incredible for generations to come. Passive income sounds like a very nice benefit for all your hard work and dedication to this incredible art form. To me, your personality is great and I enjoy the conversation on it's own so don't trade one for the other. Just make solid descriptions for your videos and your going to kill it. Be well Michael.
