Keyboard short cuts seem tricky to learn, but Mike is so utterly consistent each and every time telling us the keys out loud, many are actually starting to sink in.

When the subdivision is made at 58:18 how do you keep the original point selected while the other points are not ?

@23:27 & @38:00 wouldn't it be easier to simply use the BOOLE Tool ?

Hi, Yes, you could definitely use a BOOLE. I prefer to teach how to model without using Boole when ever possible. Everything can be modeled with Polygonal method. It's good to have both methods available when modeling. Thanks for the comment.

@@MichaelBalchaitis thanks for your quick respond. I see your point. Im relatively new to modeling, that is why i asked. Is it better to work without that tool then? I just try to find out what the better / cleaner way is.

@@sammedia3d Yes, it is much cleaner to model with polygons instead of using Boole or spline generators. When modeling with polygons you have complete control of the topology. It can take some time to learn all the tools and techniques but the nice thing is once you learn proper modeling you can apply that knowledge to any major 3D software package. Maya, Modo, blender, 3DS. Game modeling requires proper modeling and clean models. Modeling for film and animation requires it as well.

why don't you use sline with sweep?

I really don't like this form of modeling with the pen tool. It always end up in a pile of crap at the end. So many simpler way of doing this

It just takes practice and patience. It's a valuable technique in a modelers toolbox.
