Besides the motion sickness inducing movements at the beginning, this is literally the most helpful landscape tutorial I have ever seen. 10/10.

This is a great tutorial! I’m so excited…I ordered my paints today and will get my subscription as soon as I have the paints. Yours is the first site I have found that I was willing to pay for because I know I will learn a lot! I just finished watched your free Autumn tree tutorial and was so impressed! While I don’t expect my paintings to be as good as yours ,you give me a goal to work towards…thank you so much!

Sir, you are (I believe we well as some others) that you are today's greatest realistic landscape painter I've ever came across. Thank you so much for this! I had been using a fan brush of about the same size. But, the bristles are too course and I end up having to make harder and longer strokes for the same effect ... No matter the distance. Thanks to you and ALL of your videos I've already took my painting to another level and understanding. I therefore will be buying all the brushes you've used @ your site....Lol. and thank you from a humble beginner.

More of a beginner question: I know you use acrylic for your block-in and afterwards oil. I only use acrylic, and Im wondering if it is worth switching to oil. I heard oil is much more difficult to work with. The only real benefit I see is the longer drying time resulting in better blending and longer mixing time, with the downside in having a color shift after drying making it more difficult continuing after taking a break and not being able to use water. Your videos are always amazing! Learning a lot just by watching.
@samuelling29982 жыл бұрын
It's totally worth it! I made the jump from acrylic to oil (except for the block in) and have never looked back since. I have found oil to be much more forgiving and easier to work with due to its long drying time and the fact that it does not darken upon drying. One thing you may want to try (I haven't tried it myself though) is to use acrylic retarder to get a longer drying time for acrylic, while enjoying the convenience of having a water soluble medium. But generally I found it very easy to pick up oil, you just need to watch a few tutorials (I recommend Andrew Tischler and of course MJS' channel) on when to use linseed oil/medium and when to use thinner. It's really not rocket science. Good luck!

@@samuelling2998 you can also switch to water mixable oils which give both longer workable time and the convenience of using water for clean up.
