I currently have the i230s in the bag and they are by far my favorite irons I’ve ever gamed. My handicap is a +1 and before these I had the 2021 p770’s in the bag. Before that I had a combo set of JPX 921 tours and forged and I honestly think in my irons I’ll keep the 230s in the bag until the replacement for them comes out in 2 to 3 years and then I’ll upgrade to those. When it comes to consistency Ping absolutely have nailed it and that is what we are all looking for in Golf. Consistency is KEY

Hit both of these recently at Roger Dunn… zx7 mkii way softer and workable. T150 felt more “Clicky” and faster off the face. Was looking to replace my newer ‘23 p790 set with the T150’s but the feel was just not there for me. Zx7 mkii’s still by far the best feeling and easiest set I’ve played all year and I’ve hit almost everything at this point on the Roger dunn shelf

I have both sets. Ping is a little more forgiving but t150 looks better, goes higher (for me) and gets in and out of turf better.

Mike, just a suggestion but when you show something on the screen like the shot tracers from the golfers view, as at 6:54, or the screenshot of the data averages, keep them on the screen long enough to see what is actually being shown. I'd rather look at that longer than presented here. All too often I have to pause the video, or go back afterwards and find it to look at it again. Thanks. I do enjoy the videos and just trying to help you make them better.

The feel was good on the i230 to me, and I've warmed to the satin finish like Mizuno did on the 923 tour. My issue is upcharge for all the different shafts compared to the Mizuno. Great club though. At this place in the players cavity market I think you are looking for looks and shaft options. Nothing else. They all perform pretty similar.

Michael, I have watched many of your videos over the years. Always comprehensive, fair, balanced and to the point. This comparison however prompted me to ask you why neither you, nor any other Utube Golf analyst ever includes comment on iron durability? Take the player who is a real enthusiast as many who follow you are, who possibly aspires to a forged clubhead, yet is a frequent visitor to the practice ground with its attendant grassy / muddy / 'gritty ball' playing conditions, which are not kind re clubhead face wear. Imagine that player buying a set of new or used MP18's, IMO the best blade ever made, and seeing severe wear on say his 9 - 6 irons within say a year and the attendant rust / rust removal issue, simply because of the soft carbon steel under the thin surface chrome layer. This despite best efforts to use different irons to spread the wear. Not a problem if you have a thousand pounds to spend on irons every year. Most of us dont! This particular video comparison SCREAMS out for your comment on the comparative durability of Forged Carbon Vs Stainless clubfaces, as an important differentiator in decision making, given how close these clubs were in your opinion for feel and sound. How good and durable irons like the S55's have been over the years a case in point. Something to think about?

Not really surprising that the two are neck to neck on feel. Despite the forged pieces the T150 is a hollow body construction which makes the irons feel different from the one-piece forgings. The Ping has clearly a lot to go for it.

@@jonmoyers7620what is it then? One-piece forged head? For what ping is asking for the I230 irons, they should be forged and not cast.
@MichaelM-to4sg Жыл бұрын
I tried the T150 on launch monitor, incredibly impressive design. Honestly I wouldn’t waste my time looking at any Ping iron. I’d compare T150 to the new Apex CB and Mizuno 243. T150 I thought was reasonably soft feel and controllable though not comparable to my Miura’s. My big concern would be gapping them in a mixed set w/T100. The T150 lofts and hot face makes them crazy long but still high spin and steep descent angle. The 32* 7-iron, is full club stronger than my Miura 7, which is 36*, and averaged 20 yds longer but the spin was nearly equal; 10 swings with each my Miura 501 averaged 7120, the T160 6985. The T100 was being used by my buddy who was getting fitted on a pure T100 set. We talked about 6-9 T100 and 4-5 T150 but the T150 is not only 2* stronger the face seems hotter. Even weakening the T150 2* would seem to still have gapping issues. Maybe that’s not an issue for a mid-handicapper who’s strikes are less consistent but a good ball striker who can score wants to maintain the 12-15 yd gaps. I enjoyed the T150 enough that I’m considering going to ‘dark side’ and getting fitted for a T100/T150 combo set, if we can work out the gapping. I honestly swore I’d never game any iron that isn’t a Miura, but those new Titleist’s are really solid sticks 👍
