BMW seems to be more popular now than a few years ago here in North America. I'd love to have one, an old one. But the cost of parts might be an issue over here. It's so cool to see you completely tear this one down. Looking forward to seeing more.

Definitely! Can hear a bit of tapping. Hoses look ok but I'll check it all out as I go. I'll upload another video of the r45, that runs tappety anyway. The 45&65 have a shorter piston stroke and shorter frame compared to it's Bigger brothers

I rebuilt mine last year, still working out the vaccuum leaks but works fine. Mine is an 88c only thing that sucks about the C model is the rear drum brake. Its not modern fast but still a fun ride, it is a motorcycle afterall

Problematic air leaks are all leaks after the vane meter,measuring air sucked by the engine. Vacuum leaks (after throttle blades)are not the only ones creating problems on this bike : -Intake boots connecting the head and throttle body assembly -intake boots connecting the plenum to the throttle body assembly -o ring around the oil cap -the tube recirculating the blowby to the plenum is a big very often problem. -vacuum plugs on the throttle body vacuum ports. This bike needs a very well sealed engine to work properly,it can't adapt the mixture to a leak,whatever it's a vacuum leak,or a non metered air leak. If your engine is well sealed,the simple fact to open the oil cap,engine running,makes it run like crap. Yeah,not that fast,but well enough to die properly. The engine is real smooth. : )

They are taking the market worldwide specially on the Japanese brands. I think their image of safety and quality is a reference nowadays with the all security/safety brainwashing concept. bmw is a brand for (rich) old pretentious men since the 60's Power,speed are not priorities anymore. Parts are expensive when new here too....mucho dineros. But as we have had a lot of them in the police and gendarmerie it's quite "easy" to find used parts. A rear complete brake is nearly 400 euros new for ex

Thanks. It's my first street bike. I had a 50 cc 2 stroke first : ) This one run like a russian copy of a chinese imitation of a trolex watch for now... the head is off for a valve job. More to come...

I suggest you to check the valve adjustment and possible vacuum leaks on the k75. It's very common to have vacuum issues. Mine have a burnt valve because of those problems... I've watched your video,too bad there is no close up. I wanted to buy a flat too since a long time,but it's too expensive for me. Yes bmw parts are expensive,3 exhaust valves are 250 euros...

I can get swiss aftermarket ones for my R45, they are a bit cheaper but to be honest on the 45/65 its the Valve Seats that wear out quicker, the valves are slightly more robust than the larger Boxers. Cheers for letting me know about these KTM valves, should be a massive help if i need them

I've just bought a '86 K75C, very cheap and runs fine. electrics need some work as the front ends being customed. I own a '90 Honda BROS, a '80 R45, and a '78 Yamaha xs750. Not so much collectable as old Shit and other peoples problems I've bought ;) Bmw is expensive though.. especially rebuilding brakes. I have a short vid of my R45 on here

ktm valves were just an example to illustrate the fact the dealers are crazy on prices. When you think a fender on a popular car is around 10 euros at the gate of a factory you realize valves are overpriced at the dealer.

: ) 18 years old is quite old. The average bike use is 7 years old here. i learned that last week = / I know the k serie last quite long, but it's far from being new or just used. Do you have an old bike ? (old according to your definition) A collectible one or something ?

He showed me intake valves from a ktm : 20 euros each exhaust are 58 euros each... ok there is sodium in it but it's a nice orange ktm box...

How many miles on it?
@michaelovitch

I don't really know exactly. It's supposed to 79000 kilometers on the odometer for the engine block,and this bike in the video. The head's mileage is unknown,i bought it with an other bike "skeleton" with unknown mileage. It was overhauled,so it's fresh now.

arghhh.. 90£ ? The machine shop's owner where i will send the head for changing the guides and machine the seats laughed at the bmw prices. He said business was good for them. He works on industrial engines the size of a car,rare cars,cars,bikes etc and he can have valves from a manufacturer. bmw is rubing its gold plated balls with a goat skin. they don't even produce their valves. it's just ridiculous.
