Redstone is simple. It's a bunch of repeated patterns to achieve the desired result. The difficulty with redstone is that you need to fit it into the designated space without interference. Of course, when everything is accounted for, you'll still need to a lot of thinking to make it work. So it takes time to work it out, which is really where the difficulty is. It takes time.

Stuffmadehere's robot is much more complex. They both use 3 degree of freedom movement, but Stuff's robot does it using 2 motors instead of 3, which already makes it quite difficult. The differential control to tilt the hoop is very clever I think is actually quite tricky to implement without something breaking (which we saw happened multiple times), especially considering the mechanical contraints of the belts. Stuffmadehere only glossed over the ball detection, trajectory calculation and prediction, but that's also more difficult than he made it seem. The surgery robot is absolutely impressive, but from a robotics perspective it's simpler than it looks. The motion detection camera directly gives you coordinates in a 3D space which you can just immediately push into the surgery robot. No extra mathematics really required, apart from converting spatial coordinates into motor input data, but that is quite simple as well. The end effector of the surgery robot also moves in a straight x-y-z-coordinate system, which is also very simple to control with the 3 motors he used. Though I think the mechanical design he used to construct it was splendid! I think from this video we can tell that Michael hasn't had a lot of formal mathematics and robotics training (I think he's mostly a programmer), but I believe he's studying it. I think with every video he's just getting better and better. Can't wait to see his skills in the future! I think both Michael and Stuffmadehere are very impressive and sort of complement each other well though. Michael is an amazing presenter, and Stuff is an outstanding engineer with lots of experience. Would be cool to see them collaborate on something!
