This will be a blast to watch I can already tell at the beginning. I grew up on two wheels but always had fun trail riding on quads. Aside from my buddies banshee that I loved, some of the most fun I had on 4 wheels was blasters, 300ex, wolverines and warriors. As I sit here in my 40's i have been contemplating getting a small quad ( my first ever ) as a project to build up, hence how I found your channel. Most of the content is biased towards the top tier machines, so its refreshing seeing a video based on something I could relatively find running but ugly for a grand or less here in Ohio.

My first quad was a Mojave. It has the KLR 250 engine in it. Just with a reverse. Which I owned the KLR before so when I got it I knew what needed to be done to it. Mostly keeping the valves adjusted anybody that owns a mojave or KLR knows that. But I also own 98 blaster. I tell you I'm not a big guy I'm 5"8 at 150lbs and I tell you That think is SO fun to ride. I've owned LTZ"s Lt 500 Rapters and I never had so much fun on a quad than the blaster I still own it today. I bought it for $700 back in the late 2000's and I have modded it to be a 240cc the only things that come close to it is quadzilla and a rapter 700 The little thing is FAST and if you know what you are doing and It takes riding time to learn. But you can drift this thing around tight turns and lose no time. They are that quck. I'll never get ride of mine. It's that fun. Also the maintenance is so minor. I ride mine hard every season I do the typical top end rebuilt on it every three years. the clutch that came in it when I bought it I just replaced this year. It has been the most reliable quad I have ever own. and I love the LTZ but I won't trade my blaster for one.

Brings back old memories. My first quad I bought brand new when I was 15 was a 2001 Yamaha Blaster. The only mods I did was FMF full exhaust and a K&N air filter. That little quad packed a punch. 2 stroke, 6 speed and light weight they were very quick. It’s a shame 2 strokes are gone. I ended up getting a YFZ450 in 2008. Now I no longer own a quad. Watching your videos makes me want to get another bike and start riding again.

WooHoo! Good stuff Mike! I'm still going to be cheering for the Blaster since I had one but we won't know until the end of the competition. You guys are also hilarious as you're just goofing about being bone-heads. I watched a video from the SXSBlog guys here on YT over the weekend and they were rather annoying to be honest. They antagonize each other until one of them starts throwing cuss words back at the other. Not very entertaining IMO. You on the other hand, keep up the good work. :)

@@MichaelSabo Ya, the video I saw was one where they messing with quads. The main guy doing the filming kept bashing on his own 80's Suzuki 250 Quad Racer and kept wanting to do a drag race against another of their hosts with a poorly running Honda TRX 450R. They were probably just joking around and what not. But the way they presented it wasn't very entertaining to me IMO. Of course I don't really watch them to begin with so their humor with each other didn't interest me in the least. I mostly watched it out of curiosity. :)

Would've loved to have seen a 350 warrior in the mix instead of maybe the 300ex since they're definitely one of my favorite 4 stroke quads but cool to see all these in a shootout regardless. Lez go!🎉 for the next top quad you should add the Honda 200sx and you should be able to do a full builds on any of the quads.

That would be sweet dude! We would have done a full build on all of these if we had the time and resources.

You should have thrown in a chinese quad as a ringer 😂 I'd like to see how one stacks up against those. Maybe one with a Gy6 engine and a Honda clone engine.

That would be pretty funny to see. Not a bad idea to do a chinese quad vs name brand

Trailblazers are wayyyyyy more fun with bald tires. You more or less drift around the turns to carry the speed because you never really have torque with the cvt. I didn’t like it much when I got it but they are so fun slide around on it just grew on me.

That's a fair point, I can see how a little less traction would make it perform better or at least be more fun

I remember the old dirtwheels issue that compared these same quads when I was a kid.. except the Mohave instead of the Lakota i think. I've owned two out of the 4 here.. old midsized sport quads bring back lots of good memories.

From what I could tell so far? the Yamaha Blaster was the most badass quad out of the bunch. especially for me because I'm about 5'10" with a pretty short inseem. so it's smaller size might not effect me so much. and once a person got used to it's crazy power band. it would be the best all around and fastest quad there. and I couldn't help but like the sound of the pipe that was on it.

Even as a grown ass man.. I’d take the blaster, extend the swing arm, add wheel spacers, Vito’s 240big bore kit, and would ride it as a grown adult lol 2nd choice would be the 300ex 🤷🏾‍♂️ Just my two cents 😂

Makes me happy to see polaris hasnt changed a bit. Had a 2014 polaris sportsman 850. Everything y'all said about size, suspension, brakes, and trabsmission on the trail blazer was exactly how i felt.

Ok, I'll be ants at a picnic...first competition should have been on here...nother week of ads trailers teasers commercials, then first competition...?? Ug!!!...I've been sucked into your revenue vacuum..."let's givem little bites for 3 months" triple up on clicks...I get it, I'll do it, cuz I love your stuff..ain't happy bout it tho...Now I gotta go watch the 1 and a half hour voodoo vid to feel like I got a quad fix...this half hour top quad commercial wasn't enough...

haha, I appreciate the love Mike! It's always a challenge deciding where to divide up these series videos. If I had more hands I'd be pumping out videos much quicker but I do all of the editing for these; organizing 8 cameras worth of footage and editing this first episode I logged 110 hours; If I could do it faster I'd have more for you sooner man! 🤘👊
