I’ve been at 660 Raptor guy since 2004. I have literally had every problem you’ve had with yours over the years. I realized when you got on the machine, that’s why I put up with all the grief I’ve been through with my machine. They’re just a blast to ride! You give lots of great info, do some really great DIY stuff when you run against problems and have fun with the process, even when it goes terribly wrong. Great job!

Awesome compliment man. Each build comes with its own set of challenges but I'd say the hardest part is usually ghost problems like what I had with this Raptor. When you're on a timeline to get things done for content, little setbacks that cost time are the most frustrating. I'm glad I can motivate you in your own builds and thank you again for the love man! 🤘

Hey mike been watching your videos for a long time now. I've been starting my own atv repair for over a year. Your channel is great for teaching techniques and tips keep up the great work man! Also im sure you've heard this or know it but Yamaha stators for sport quads are really poor from the factory the carbureted yfz 450s would charge better if they had the headlights on. Ricky Stator has some really top notch replacements I put one in an old yfz 450 I had. Charging difference and starting was unreal.
@MichaelSabo

Thank you for being a long time subscriber Cole! I didn't know the Yamaha stators were weak from the factory. I have seen the high output ricky stator ones though; I might take your advice and try one on the Banshee I'm doing.

I own a 2003 raptor 660r and definitely don't think that's an OEM header. Definitely looks like the Big Gun that I run except for the cover(mine is carbon fiber).They are geared really tall. I fixed mine with changing out the front sprocket for a slightly lower gear as I do a lot of woods riding. Also had the same problem with the parking brake making it hit hit the rev limiter to early when it was in a hard pull like climbing a steeper hill or getting it wound out on top end. Detected that and fixed the issue. The wiring harness on these does suck and I replaced the intire thing just incase and turned out that mine was just fine lol. Great build to watch and u did an awesome job for such a tedious build. Thanks so much for this.

What a wicked machine! Great job, Mike! Couple of things, the oil pump is a two rotor design, 1st rotor draws from the tank to the engine, through the filter, to the cam, and crank, and then the second rotor draws from the case, and lubes the transmission gears, and then pumps it back to the tank. Also, the case has an O-ring between the case halves for the oil circuit. Top speed is 74mph limited by electronics. There’s a impulse rotor that can be modified to increase the top speed.

I know this is 6 months old and amazing work but one thing that will help you prior to the final assembly (on anything) is before you send parts off to get painted/powder coated is to do a dry assembly so you find out any issues and can fix them before it is all painted so it is then straight forward on final assembly

Another amazing video. There’s so much work shooting and editing these videos and you put out such high production quality! Plus you make the work look easy. You are a great craftsman with exceptional problem solving skills. I know this build has been challenging but you’ve learned a ton and passed on some great knowledge to your viewers as well. Thanks so much for the great content! Cheers from Canada.

KZbin seems like its always on a dry streak then BOOM! Mike the man saves the day with the lit videos. And they're 2 always an hour to two hours long. Diggin' the build, makes me want to finish this banshee and get a 660 next.

Fantastic job. I learned a lot just picked one up and was worried about oiling myself. Also just drilled out and tapped my exhaust studs and now I have a head gasket leak. Wonder if I hit the water jacket. I will try bleeding tomorrow thanks again for all the time

Did a Re Build on a 2004 TRX450R & initially bought a Caltric wire harness & my fist suspision was how much thinner it was compared to OEM. Next was some of the connectors were too short. Didn’t even reach where they connected up to. Yea in the end I spent the $$ on OEM & it fit perfect & had no problems. Sorry that harness gave you soo many problems. I’ve been there with the frustrations of F’n up & needing to re do it. Great vid tho
