Of the three characters, this was EASILY the one I supported the most because this would literally be my wish if I won Calypso's contest. My dad died in a terrible accident when I was a kid and I would do anything to go back and make that otherwise. Sweet Tooth deserved what he got and so did Dollface, but Grimm I legitimately sympathize with.

Mr. Grimm is the one contestant I sympathized with. His wish was actually admirable. Sweet Tooth wanted to kill his daughter and Dollface wanted immediate fame and fortune, but Mr. Grimm just wanted to save his dad. He didn't really deserve to die.

Well that's the thing. The urban legends and stories about the devil is, that he makes deals, but the recepients always get screwed as he only makes wishes come true by malicious compliance. That's why they call him the prince of lies. That's why only the desperate seek out those deal supposedly bv they feel like they have nothing to lose anymore. They are unfortunately wrong about that Johnny blaze's character in marvel comics is also a plotline like that who clearly inspired them for grim. The ghost rider, I still have hope for a cameo or something in the MCU, like please 😩

in his defense, being the devil's advocate, literally, he gave them what they want...all of them were not specific enough and its their own fault for not thinking straight, sweet tooth anger for missing the one that got away, doll face for letting her pride and anger get in her way, Mr. Grimm saddened and so off put by his father's death (he is the only one that has a logical reason to not think straight), and even the preacher, so focused on trying to purge the beast (not the best call since calypso can just straight up wish him to die, food for thought). If you are dealing with someone who can grant ANY wish, and you enter a tournament that is expected to be bloody and cause all sorts of death. You should also expect that the person behind it is also evil and will manipulate the wish to his own advantage. If you were not expecting to be specific when talking to him, expect consequences.

Mr Grimm was always my favorite. Loved his story of being an army veteran and a POW who had to eat his dying comrades to survive and wears the skull of his best friend as a reminder. Wasn't happy when I heard they changed his character so I ignored the game. It was a bad mistake. they really did a great job here

Additionally, when Calypso said, "Mr.Grimm, your dad would be proud." it probably was towards the child variant that shot his future self. I'm guessing that this version's wish would be to have that guy who showed up in his car, distracting the dad, never exist. He would then have saved his dad from the car crash by theoretically not having the situation be as it is. And the twist there would have been that kid would have been erased in the process.

It took a while to figure this out, but Mr. Grimm probably wanted just his consciousness to go back in time into his past self, the memories. The twist was that the body was sent back in time as well. Very sad to see he let himself kill him.

Personally I prefered most of the character stories in Twisted Metal Black, they were far better than the ones I have seen thus far in TM 2012. I enjoyed Sweet Tooth's and even prefer it than the TM Black story, but with Dollface and Mr. Grimm especially, the stories in TM Black were far better in my opinion.

I think he actually got a worse death than Sweet Tooth and Dollface, given that whereas they die in theirs, Grimm might actually have to continuously go on with his wish. Basically a time loop where he goes back and fails, leading to his kid self becoming Mr Grimm.

They should’ve done this ending better by him actually become the actual reaper due to his wish they could’ve had him say something like “ i wish to decide the fate of my father” and calypso devilishly twists it into “ he wants to be the grim reaper and decide what happens to his father’s soul” and he becomes the traditional Mr. Grimm and can only decide if his dad goes to heaven or hell. Not if he lives or dies.
