The Speed Twin wears a 120/70/17 front and 160/60/17 rear. I run them both at a cold 34 psi.

At 8 minutes... that´s exactly what i felt when i tested it. I own two classic CB´s from the 70´s (450k and 550F) and a slightly more modern CB750. This is the only modern bike i want! Period! The looks are perfect. The torque and smoothness are incredible. The shifter (transmission) is the best one i ever experienced. I don´t know why nobody ever talks about that.. I´m getting one very soon.

Great tire choice for your style of riding. And this trip sounds like it'll be awesome, and that couldn't be a better (and more photogenic) bike for the twisty roads!

I agree 100% with your assessment of the tires. I think Triumph wanted to give potential buyers the impression that the handling is on par with a high end sport bike.

Great videos. Love the speed twin. I've got the 2013 Bonneville and it's beautiful but I would like a little more power. Mine is red and black. When I got the bike I didn't realize motorcycle tires don't last 30k miles like car tires. I'm driving around with 4800 miles and it was like in one week the tires went from having safe wear to being almost bald. Looking to put a longer lasting tire and here that Michelin is a good option.
@VanBlamm Жыл бұрын
These Road 5s lasted me about 8,000 miles, and my second pair is getting up there. I'll be getting a third pair this year. Michelin is up to the Road 6 now; those are the ones to get if they make them in your size!

Excellent choice in tire. Much better suited to that bike. Pirelli Angel GT2 and Michelin R5s are perfect for any standard, UMJ or sport naked. Both give great grip, wet or dry, and last a long time.

I took my Speed Twin to Colorado this summer and put 2100 miles on it. Black canyon is a great ride. At the the end of the trip, I replaced the tires with the Road 5s. They now have 2000 miles. Great bike and tires.

Great video! It helped me out a lot. I'm picking up a 2020 Speed Twin this Sat. after selling my T120. I wasn't crazy about the Diablo Rosso's that came are coming on the bike but wasn't sure which tire to go with. Your video gave me the answer!! I was also wondering if you could provide a link or tell me which brand of motorcycle trailer you had in this video. It looks lightweight and awesome!! Thanks

Thanks! I had a Kendon single ride-up trailer. It was amazing and made it possible for me to do everything alone. Just don't bother trying to reverse with it.

In the uk we typically buy the tyres from a fitting shop. Is your approach popular in the US?

I’ve almost put 7k miles on my Speed Twin, still on the stock Rosso III’s, no flat spot and no issues. I’ve really enjoyed the tires. Not sure what I’ll put on when the time comes, maybe even put the rosso III’s on again.

My rear only went 3500 mi. till metal banding shown down center of rear tire . I put a road 5 on the rear only then two days later i picked up a big nail right in the center of the rear. I plugged it and have ridden it hard a few times and it holds air but i have that nagging feeling in the back of my brain housing group. So I went to buy a full new set of that same michelin but was watching a review that showed the long term wear on this tire and i don't like the way the dual compound wears differently and it looked ready to delaminate after 2500 miles. Others say differently but i know what i saw on that guys bike. I'm going for Pirelli Angel gtII . Those worked well on my 07 Tiger 1050 before. I sure loved the grip on those Rosso III's though. too bad they wear so fast

I ride a Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 that comes with these Pirelli Phantom Sportscomps. I do ride much more aggressively and do a lots of canyon carving, still the middle of the tire wore of sooner than the sides. 7500 kms now and still 1000 kms left in those. But, these are super gripping and soft. Would get these again. Maybe I should get the dual compound, 🤔

How is the highway ride with no windscreen?
@VanBlamm4 жыл бұрын
Not bad at all, although I've never been very sensitive to wind blast. I had a Dart windscreen for my former Street Twin that I would put on for touring, and I swear it made no difference whatsoever.
@surferdude6424 жыл бұрын
@@VanBlamm Thanks for the quick reply and your opinion. When I was much younger I wasn't too sensitive to wind either, but at 72 I am now. I had a Dart windscreen on my 2010 Street Triple R and it helped noticeably. One never knows how these screens pan out. I've had experience with windscreens that have good coverage but cause turbulence (buffeting), and that's worse imo. I'm 5'5" so I'm not in the wind as much as a taller person would be.

Dude. If you were incapacitated in a crash and I rolled up, I’d be spending the first 10 minutes trying to figure out why you had two tires wrapped around your body. That would definitely be the most bizarre crash of my career. I could see the weird banter now: “Why’s he got tires around him?!” “I think MS-13 was about to burn him alive and he escaped!”

@@VanBlamm When the front fork innards were revealed i was shocked to see how cheap and minimal quality the springs and spacers were.
