So happy for you! Buying your first house is a big deal. My husband and I just bought our first house last October and it was a similar story, we went to the open house last minute and put in an offer thinking we would never get it. Our Relator was amazing and he talked to the sellers and told them our story and they picked us over other offers! Sometimes it’s just meant to be 💕

That’s what I did when I was trying to buy my house…..I gave it to God and asked Him to either take it away or help it go through. I got it and it has been mine for 15 years now! Many improvements and updates over the years. People are always complimenting me as to how pretty it is. It’s been work but I have to tell you, I have never, never regretted buying it! You won’t either!! I’m so excited for you!

I do wedding planning and you are doing great! I think DIY is the best way to go to keep costs down. Keep in mind there will be people that will tell you that isn't a good way to go or they will have their own opinion but, at the end of the day it is yours and Jordy's wedding and you have to be the ones that are happy. And its all about the marriage anyway NOT about the wedding. The wedding is just a formality for family and friends to help you celebrate. WOO! My husband and I just bought a house in SD as well and it is such an INSANE process (I feel like our stories are similar). But when you find something that is meant to be, somehow it works. We also got our offer accepted amongst others that were way more competitive that it almost seemed miraculous. But we sent in a love letter describing our story and why we wanted the house and I feel like that is the ONLY reason they chose is us. ! But none the less it is SO exciting, so happy for young coupe who were able to snag a great home since it's tough in California!

I absolutely love your house story! That is similar to how my hubby and I bought our land in TN. We looked at property all over the east side of TN for about 15 years, never really knowing how we would be able to make the perfect property work, or how we would know when we found the right place. The property we ended up buying is so perfect and we found it almost by mistake. We closed in an absolute whirlwind because land sells so fast in that area and now we have our perfect Heaven on Earth. It is times like this that the clarity of hindsight is so amazing... All those misses through the years.... All working up to this one perfect moment making all those dreams through the years a reality. I'm so happy for you and Jordy and for your family!

Michel, yknow the hole in the squeeze part of the caulk gun? that's a cutter for the tip. And the pointy wire under is for poking a hole in the tip. Make sure you put a screw or something similar in the tip too so it doesn't dry and block the opening

LOVING the DIYs! Small, hopefully helpful tip with the caulk gun: there is a small hole on the orange part of the gun where you can cut the tip of the caulk tube. No need to get your scissors messy. Hope this helps for the future! Edit: to save the caulk tube for later: stick a nail inside the tip of the caulk tube and then wrap it with a ton of thick tape (electrical, duct tape, etc) to save for next use. It normally lasts for months and doesn’t dry out!

I was a DIY bride as well and for centerpieces we went to dollar tree got clear vases that I knew I’d like to use again in my home. I’m not a flower kind of girl but I put feathers I use already for home decor in it. For a card box we took old Amazon boxed and got nice solid colored wrapping paper and just wrapped the boxes and put the letter stickers labeling cards. With your aesthetic. You could do mismatch vases that you already use in your home throw some old postcards you find in your travels or online in mismatched picture frames for decoration

Loved hearing the story about getting the house. Congratulations again, to you Jordy and your parents! I totally understand the concept of feeling like signing your life away. Though my story is slightly different. I was renting when I moved in with what turned out to be my future husband. He already had this house with his two kids. When we got married four years ago, we refinanced the house for some remodeling and I signed onto the mortgage. First time ever signing/owning my own home and I was so nervous to sign my name. I didn't know my credit score, if I had worked enough, or even if I made enough for the lending company to agree with it. I turned it to God and said "if it's meant to be, it's meant to be." And every thing went thru! It will be our forever home since its all one level and we both have a lot of medical issues. Now I can't imagine living anywhere else.
