I have been with my husband since I've was 16 (now 50). We've been married for decades. I felt it very important to have my own money. We share bills etc. We have hard money discussion. During the period of raising kids when I wasn't employed outside the home, my husband paid my account. We cherish each other and are best friends, but I am to a fault independently minded. Not sharing a bank account didn't mean we were not all in. It meant he listened to something that was really important to me being true to myself.

I agree! We have a joint account but we also have our own personal accounts. We both appreciate not having to "consult" with one another about fun purchases, and it makes it easier to surprise each other with gifts and whatnot. Frankly, I'm the more financially conscious of the two of us, and I'm sure he's glad that he doesn't need to justify/explain all of his fast food runs when I'm looking over our account haha

I appreciate the comment Michel started to making about combining finances. Personal finance is personal. You do not NEED to combine finances to prove that you're in a committed relationship. Of course if you want to, super great for you, but there are a lot of reasons that someone (often women) don't want to fully combine finances that are valid. And a lot of people who just never did it, simply because they just never did. My husband and I have separate accounts, have been together for 12 years, and have never had any concerns about it. We both pay for things, send money to the other account if needed, etc.

Sharing a bank account is absolute trust and commitment. You never want to mess that up. Communion on how to much to take out is another lesson i never learned and i learned that with my husband. He wasn't ever angry, he let me figure it out and be patient. Whenever i am stress, finances are the number one questions he ask first then if it wasn't that, it was most likely other stuff like work and family stuff

Nah. Been married over 30 years so listen up. We started out with a joint account, in fact both our names are still on it, and I call it our "household account" but it's totally my account. We just found it easier to manage our expenses by splitting them up roughly proportional to our incomes. It was never a big deal and had nothing to do with trust, just ease of money management. Michel is right, everyone does things differently for different reasons.

With all due respect, trusting someone isn’t enough to combine finances. The purpose of maybe not combining is if things go south, you want to make sure you’re protected. It’s not about the immediate and current status of your marriage. My husband makes 3 times what I make, and I’m the one who said let’s keep our finances separate. Love him to death, trust him with everything, but yoy never know if things go south.

I agree that being financially open with one’s partner is very important. However, my husband and I have been a couple for the last 16 years and married for three and we have found it easier to have me pay some of the bills, him pay some of the bills and keep our bank accounts separate. Combining our account would involve multiple banks and significant funds and it just feels like a pain in the butt that we don’t need. However, that being said, we consider any money we have to be joint money. We don’t have money that we consider to be “just mine “just his”. And should anything happen to either of us we are each other’s beneficiaries on the accounts. TLDR: I think it can be done with individual or joint bank accounts

The problem with living in San Juan Capistrano is owi the traffic. It was our last home before moving to San Diego, I thought it would be the best of both being between central Orange County and SD but it ended up being super heavy traffic all of the time. I feel like in SD (at least where we live) the traffic is very predictable by commute hours, but SJC always has freeway traffic and there so little there you have to drive at least 20min to get to anything besides the Safeway.

We followed the grandkids to Hawaii from Oceanside. Selling our house in Oceanside is the one thing we both regret. It was the perfect place for us we lived close to Buckaneer Park. We moved aROOUND A lot with the military (highschool sweethearts from Fort Worth Texas) and now grandkids. Anyhow love watching you and your young family the love can be seen and it gives others something positive and fun to watch. Aloha 🤙❤

Me too. I went away to med school directly from Oside, always thought I would return, but it has changed so much and I am not sure I can afford it again. I grew up between O'ahu and Oside. Hi just makes me sad. The Buccaneer Park area is awesome. As a kid I wanted to stay at the hotel/motel there, but it was converted to condos by the time I was old enough 😂

6:12, part deuce, just realizing the heart of your problem *may* be (as in may I defer to a talented tailor) as simple as the breasts needs darts for shape or the vest needs tailoring if there are existing, but clearly failing, bust darts. Not sure if that’s what they’re called but pretty sure you all know what I mean! Essentially you need more fitted structure around the ribs to waist, and more intentional shape around the breasts, making the arm hole follow your front silhouette rather than just sticking out and perpetuating that unflattering boxyness.
