You need to see the full picture..It wasn't only due to Nichol. Shannon couldn't control her spending. Shannon was with Chris because she could CONTROL him. They had filed bankruptcy once and were already back in debt $70,000 not including the house. After a while ANY man will get tired of getting collection agency calls at work and home. That alone with seeing those pink envelopes marked "Past Due'' on the kitchen counter will take a toll on ANY man. Then she gets pregnant again knowing they can't afford what bills you already have. She was always posting videos on Facebook about the glorious fake happy life they were living. Shannon was addicted to impressing people. Just look at the videos of their home. She had a bed fit for a queen, closets full of designer clothes, so many shoes that she could have opened her own shoe store. When a man sees there is no way of getting her to control her spending habits he will start to fall out of love. Then Chris meets an average woman at work who CAN control her spending and doesn't live her life to impress others and is more like him. A person who can live a life without expensive things . That causes him to become attracted to her. I know this because I went through the exact same thing with my first wife. Only I was smart enough to just file for divorce.

By the way according to the neighbor, CW NEVER backs his truck up to the garage!! Bigger red flag! Even if it is the FIRST time CW see´s the video, he does show little interest! If you look carefully, the neighbore is watching CW all the time. A innocent man would be GLUED to the screen desperatly seeking some kind of answer. He would not be concerned with anything around him. But that did not happen. CW is more concerned about explaining what HE is doing, and not so much anything else. The one thing that I have noticed about the Watts family dynamic, is that there were so many times we see Shanann on video, so excited about the smallest things with the kids, about protein bars, trips etc and is so obvious that Chris is feigning being interested... I can spot it a mile off that he actually hated all the attention, the online videos and all the talking to people on the internet, filming each moment and each trip etc... Yet Shanann genuinely couldn't see it 😢 She thought being an assertive personality was attractive to Chris, however with him being such a week-minded man, with low self esteem; he saw this as controlling and bossy, not assertive (according to his second FBI confession) and felt she emasculated him. To Shannan, she assumed Chris was excited about the same things as she was in life... he wasn't! He was bored stiff. I say all this to say, it's made me look at my own relationship, and at whether I am truly seeing what I THINK I'm seeing .. am I assuming my husband is excited about the same things as me? Are we as each giving the other spouse a choice to be themselves? After watching this family look like the perfect family, yet to find out one of them was miserable, has me trying to be more conscious of the way I relate to my husband and kids. We all assume that we have similar life goals and that we are allowing our partners to truly be themselves... But how many of us would be utterly surprised to know our spouse might actually be hiding that they are bored/unhappy/resentful/ feel unheard? Scary.

Those Google searches Chris Watts did concerning love; when is it appropriate to tell someone I love you, how to feel when someone says I love you, leads me to believe he's a psychopath. I'm shocked!!!!!! I can understand his mother saying 'We love you'. But hearing her say 'We forgive you' left me speechless. A) we can only forgive harm done to ourselves, not that done to others. B) Knowing his motive for killing his wife and two little girls was just to clear the way for a new life with another woman, doesn't that make the whole thing unforgivable?

We can only forgive when the person has serious regrets, shows shame for the deed, ask for forgiveness, changes behaviour, honestly answer all the questions about the crime.. And after some time, we can try to forgive but not forget. That's how I would do it if my son would have done such a horrible crime. Still loving him from a distance, from afar, in my heart... But it would take years to even consider forgiveness. And I would apologize for my son to the victims family.

A few years have now passed and yet I still shake my head in wonder & disgust at how even the worst narcissist could do what he did. Many serial killers had families with kids and many profess if they had any regret, it was how their actions impacted their kids. Even the Iceman Kuklinski regretted how his mafia murders affected his kids. But Watts? NOTHING. There is NOTHING like regret or sadness. Maybe this is why we continue to watch videos and read about him. We are looking for some spec of humanity in a man that has none. As to the object of his obsession, I imagine she actually felt some sick kind of pride in knowing that he killed his family to be with her. I recently read a quote by someone who knew & worked with her (before Watts) and they said that she slept with many of the married guys she worked with. That is hearsay, but usually hearsay is based in fact.

@@jenmailsouth4155 My ex cheated on me with a woman who had a head the size and shape of a basketball. She was stumpy, not bad looking, but not who you picture your husband screwing around with either. At that time, I was in the best physical shape of my life, 5'9" and honestly, I was quite pretty. I saw her and couldn't understand what it was she offered him that I didn't. I met her later at my one daughter's HS graduation party (yes, I invited her to be polite) and she got kind of drunk and felt it necessary to tell me how she and my then still husband were doing it in my bed while I was at the hospital with my then 7 yr old daughter. She delighted in telling me that and other disgusting and very hurtful things and she told me like we were old pals. I realized then that she was the kind of woman who felt superior to other women, particularly those that were married, when she was able to get their husband to go to bed with her. It was her way of dealing with jealousy for the life she didn't have but clearly wanted. She was too stupid to realize that most men don't really want to leave their families for the women they are cheating with...they want the best of both worlds but don't want to throw away a 'good life' in the process. She felt so good about herself because, not only was she the catalyst for destroying my marriage but she then lived with him for a few years. She was just DEVASTATED that he never married her and yeah, lol, he cheated on her too! Yes, I do still smile at that fact! My point is that there are women that are so lacking self confidence that they look for men that are already 'taken' and view them as conquests. They triumphed and stole the heart of a married man! In fact, they really only stole a cheating asshole and they never really get that burning hole of no self confidence filled either. I hope NK gets cheated on. I hope that she gets to feel just how horrible SW would have felt when she learned the truth because I can tell you from experience, it's literally like a knife in your heart. If any one tiny positive thing could be said in this it's that Shannan was at least spared the heartache of knowing that POS was cheating on her. I hope CW slowly rots away as a very VERY lonely, destroyed man. I hope NK never has a good relationship with any man because she sure the hell doesn't deserve one. Thanks for listening to my rant!

If she wasnt involved in the murders and had no knowledge of them then she can't be held accountable. No one is responsible or in control of another person's actions. A person has choices and 100% of their own power, just like you do. They are 100% responsible for their own actions and choices, just like everyone else. The reason behind Chris own actions is still more to do with him than anyone else. We are responsible for our own behavior and others are responsible for theirs. Our actions are a choice, regardless of the provocation. When someone is cruel to us, it is often our first reaction to believe we've caused that, that it's about us. The truth is that other people's behavior is about them. Our behavior is about us. So much of what we do is a habit and this is really no different. Behavior is a choice we are making and we can choose to do something else. Even when we're talking about their behavior toward us or in the relationship. People make choices or react based on millions of pieces of information that they have stored up over the years, their beliefs, their thoughts, their experiences, their feelings. Very few of these pieces of information actually have anything to do with us and often they don't have anything to even do with what's going on in that moment or in this situation. it is one of the major reasons we are not responsible for the actions of other people: we don't have as much influence as we think we do. We all make choices for our own reasons and are therefore completely accountable for our own actions. People's behaviors are not caused by what others are doing or not doing. Nobodys is. People do what they do based on how they react to their own thoughts, feelings and belief's. That's why different people deal with the same situation differently. It's about how they feel about what's happening, not what's happening. If you go up to five different people and punch each one of them in the face, you're going to get five different reactions. How we react to things is a choice. Chris choose to kill them and the reason was because hundreds of millions of pieces of information he was using to make decisions all concluded that this was the thing to do. Sometimes people will say, "But if narcissists do have a disorder, if they are mentally ill, if there is a psychological dysfunction, if they were abused, etc. are they really responsible for their actions? Are they really responsible for their choices?" The answer is yes, they are. There are some people who are not responsible for their actions. People who are psychotic are not responsible for their actions because within that framework, it's not possible for them to make clear and reasonable choices. If they are hallucinating and believe that they've seen their neighbor trying to break in with a knife to kill them 50 times so they go shoot him, that's one thing. But someone who justifies behavior they know is wrong because it's easier for them to deal with does not fall in the category of people not responsible for their actions, and it doesn't matter why they are doing it. Whether someone is responsible for their actions is predicated on whether or not they are capable of understanding that their actions are wrong, and most narcissists are. They know it's wrong, they have a choice and they choose behavior they know is not OK because they can justify it. This doesn't make them not disordered, but a person can be disordered or mentally ill and still be responsible for their actions and choices. Mental illness or disorder is not an automatic disqualification from being responsible for your behavior. They had choices, They had power. They chose to do things - or not do things - that resulted in contributing to creating a toxic environment. Narcissists love to tell others they've failed them, because this means anything bad that happened was all the other person's responsibility. The person who failed the narcissist was the narcissist. They failed themselves and will continue to do so until they either realize they have responsibility for their own lives and take it, or until they die. Whichever comes first.

This is not victim shaming but an observation. When he came home to her live streaming the announcement of her pregnancy it was very unsettling when he picked up the pregnancy test and nicely questioned the gender she quickly became very condescending and quipped “it’s just a pregnancy test”….this revealed that he had been emotionally abused by her for years. She likely constantly belittled him. She didn’t deserve to die but she was definitely not the doting wife the media portrayed her to be.

Yes Chris's motivations for anythink are completely self focused. Narcissists view people as objects and as extensions of themselves. Because of this, they are unable to see people as separate beings from themselves with their own feelings, needs, wants and opinions. Prisons are full of narcissists. These are the people who feel they have the right to take things that don't belong to them, the right to assault others, the right to rape others, the right to kill others. They feel entitled to any- and everything they want just because they want it. Who else but a narcissist thinks that what they want is more important than someone's life? The dynamic of "want" and "need" is very confused in the mind of a narcissist. Everything they want, they think they need and if they need it, that means they are entitled to it. This means if you get in their way, you are denying them fulfillment of their needs. This is not an enviable place to be in, and it doesn't just involve material things. Narcissists also personalise the behaviour of others. Their ego is so dysfunctional and consuming that it creates the idea that everything is about them or to them or for them. They're not able to separate their experience or feelings from anything because of their inability to separate the self from external objects. It's all about how it affects them and if it affects them, they believe it must be for them, or because of them. The idea that people have their own feelings and their own motives that don't include them does not usually occur to pathologically narcissistic people. They simply assume that the motive for all things is themselves, whether it affects them directly or not. Ironically, for people who want control over so many things, they completely abdicate control over their behavior and their emotions to other people. Through personalizing the behavior of others, they achieve the justification they need to relinquish responsibility for their actions. They feel attacked continuously and justify their abuse as self-defense. As far as they are concerned, they bear no responsibility for how they are behaving because the other person has caused the whole thing. Their ego is wounded, they feel inadequate and imperfect and they believe that they must retaliate in order to protect their ego and ultimately, themselves. Of course, the bigger problem is that because of their inability to understand that not everything is related to them and because of their own projected self-hatred. The personality that has been arrested at a certain level of maturity and function, and is now stuck in a loop. If you are dealing with a pathologically narcissistic person, you are dealing with significant and severe dysfunction, and some have such significant, severe dysfunction that they qualify as clinically disordered. This is not something a person can just stop doing or stop having. It doesn't excuse their behavior or their choices in any way because they know right from wrong (even if they don't understand why something is considered wrong) lack of empathy, difficulty with impulse control, skewed perception and impairment regarding cognition causes them not to care but they know, but it does tell us that this is more than a case of someone choosing harmful, inconsiderate or inappropriate behaviors. The people we are referring to when we use the word "narcissists" have a pathological personality, which means they have pathological thought processes, mindsets, behaviors and pathological emotional dysregulation. They generally lack empathy, lack impulse control, lack self-worth and the ability to create or regulate self-worth; they usually have difficulty with object permanency, object constancy, and whole object relations, there is usually severe identity disturbance. Narcissist have arrested emotional develpment. They have serious affected perceptions, this means their perception is seen through the lense of emotion. They have malfunctioning schema in the brain. Because of these problems they are incapable of empathy and completely self focused to the point they don't see people as people. They believe feelings are facts. They have no identity. they have the emotional understanding, control and capability of a toddlers. They are angry, frightened miserable people - even the ones who don't seem to be- They are unable to understand or change the cause of their misery. They are unable to change their beliefs, even when clearly proven wrong. Reality that contradicts how they feel is ignored, denied or altered to fit. This level of narcissism is considered inflexible. This is a multi-faceted problem that affects every part of their lives, whether you can see it or not. It's not about not caring, because it's beyond not caring. It's not even on their radar because nothing is on their radar but themselves. There is no room in their lives for anyone else but them. What you think, what you want, what you like, what you care about, who you are as a person... none of this information even occurs to them and if it is pointed out, none of it matters except for how it applies to or benefits the narcissist. They have no real understanding that this is different from how anyone else operates and don't care because it doesn't matter. This is how they operate and have likely never questioned or even considered it at all. Even if they did, it wouldn't change anything. You can't force someone to have feelings they don't have, or to stop seeing others as objects you mase well ask them to be a foot taller. They have never been any other way. Its asking a person with flawed perception to use that flawed perception to find and fix the flaws in their perception. The narcissist is a shattered persona their personality is not cohesive or whole. The narcissist's mind - their very self - broke into pieces under whatever stress and pressure they were subjected to before the personality was even formed yet, and before they could even understand what was going on. And then it stayed and formed and grew into being that way. As the personality is not integrated or whole, it cannot process past traumas, nor can it grow or heal. It is simply stuck in a time warp of emotion where it feels the trauma and pain of the past, every day as if it were happening now. Their false selves which is usually at least a vulnerable self and a protective self were created as a way to cope with that. They have such issues with self concept and identity that they often have no real self just endless shifting masks coming to forefront and fading into the background as another one takes over. They are mimics and chameleons. They use other people kind of like a psychic mirror to be able to access who and what they are to try regulate a sense of self worth and self esteem which is what they call narcissistic supply. This mirroring is the main purpose of other people in their lives and it's something they are required to do for survival and they are in a constant state of toddler survival mode. Their only motive is to save, preserve and protect themselves. Unfortunately, that is all they are really able to do. They cannot relate to other people. They cannot grow or move on. There is no room in there. There is no room for anything but the self. The only real problems are their problems. The only real feelings are their feelings. The only real person is the narcissist. In addition to these things, it's important to understand that you're dealing with a person who cannot bond with other people, cannot trust others and is pathologically insecure. This is not the kind of insecurity people are talking about when they mean someone has low self-esteem, though that's definitely a problem with narcissists, too. This is insecurity on a fundamental level, where they don't feel safe. They cannot bond or connect to others, so they never get to know them and cannot trust them, no matter how long it's been. Even the basic trust required to physically exist in the world with other people, they don't have in anybody - including themselves. The world is a battleground, an inherently unsafe place where everyone is not just not an ally, but an enemy, a potential life-threatening attacker. You cannot ever love someone like this enough to prove that you are safe enough for them to trust. It can't happen, because they don't know what safety is. They live in a world where there is no such thing. Some narcissists may become super-aggressive, dominant and even violent in order to deal with that; others may become helpless, vulnerable and lost; and still others may become ultra-controlled, and flat emotionally with very little reaction to anything, but all of these are ways of dealing with the same fundamental problem: they believe the world is unsafe, which influences their orientation to it and their interactions with it enormously.

But we all need to also learn from their marital dynamic... It's so important that BOTH couples are heard, and that there's no secret animosity growing and festering, waiting to explode. This family needed less online videos and more counseling, living within their means. They were both too concerned with the APPEARANCE of the perfect family life, whilst the reality of their lives was that they were struggling, in debt up to their eyeballs and about to lose their home. So many couples are guilty of doing this on social media. It's sad.

At marker 13:27 in Shanann's text to her friend: I find one statement particularly curious; "They (meaning Chris' parents) owe your (not our?)kids their life." What in the world does that mean? Additionally, it is interesting to note that she uses "our" children when the context is positive (like when referencing protecting them and advocating for them), but always "your" children when the context is negative and/or critical. Just noting it as interesting-- not judging or necessarily drawing any conclusion about it. Also, in retrospect, it's somewhat disturbing that in the course of her being angry and quite dramatic, Shanann uses a lot of reference to death-- and eerily, seems to portend a terrible conclusion (though in a different context) when she uses phrases like "over my dead body"," that would kill me", "killing my children", etc. This dramatic language, to someone like Chris without an identity and also with a tendency to pay attention to literal speech-- could have been feeding the tiny seeds in his subconscious. Of course, Shanann would not have a way of knowing this, but it's just chilling to think about.

She was referring to the food one of her girls is allergic to, and the grandmother feed it to her, right? Interesting point, it could be overdramatic using that kind of words.
