Okay but she actually did wildly good. To recontextualize, her FIRST TIME ever driving a manual car, her best lap was only just over half as slow as the BEST LAP a four time WORLD CHAMPION. And that's not saying anything about how differently other aspects of an F4 car are from a standard car, the speed difference between an F4 car and an F1 car, Max's deep knowledge of his team's home track, the physical training he's done for years that she only got for one afternoon, OR that he's been auto/kart racing LITERALLY since age four. She did INCREDIBLY well.
@jaredb908Ай бұрын
I mean no disrespect and I only wish to educate, but that’s a sequential transmission and the clutch is only used from a dead stop. Once you get going, you use the paddles on the steering wheel to shift up and down without the clutch. I understand that without ever spending time driving on a track it is difficult to comprehend how much of an immeasurable feat it would be to go from a 2:17 lap time to 1:03. Imagine running an 8 minute mile (1.6 km) and then how much work it would take to get that time down to under 4 minutes. Also, most F1 drivers have practically every track memorized and can even tell you which track it is just from hearing the audio recording of a car going around the track. She did a good job and it looked like she had a ton of fun, but it’s a lot harder than you think to even be competitive as an F1 driver and I think Michelle would agree having gotten a taste of what it takes.
@DiandredofusАй бұрын

@@jaredb908 better compare her lap time to the lap record of F4 cars, wich is 1:31, so it is even more impressive than what it seems at first.
@alexanderren1097Ай бұрын
It’s certainly impressive BUT should be tempered by the fact that racing skill and lap times don’t improve linearly. It’s a diminishing return. She certainly did extremely well in a short amount of time but she’ll need a year or more of training to get her time down by say 10-20 seconds. And then it’ll take several years to shave another couple seconds off her times. Then 10 years to shave fractions of seconds off her time. When looking at the top racers, their times are only separated by tiny fractions of a second. I’m making gross oversimplifications of course but hopefully y’all get the point

Just discovered your videos. Love this! I had a similar time many years ago when my career evaporated. I landed in a town where I didn't know anyone, and the next thing I knew, I was studying pantomime. I'm in a troupe, performing in tights. The last thing anyone would have ever predicted I'd do. Then I tried playing music in a band, acting, writing, drawing, painting, dance at the university dance department. For four years, I tried everything. It changed me for the better. Not financially, though, so I went back to my original career, but the creativity part came along. Thinking about suggestions for you, I thought of pantomime. Think you'd be great at it. But also, trying something in the mental health field, training for mental health intervention, or mental health nursing or something. It's a very different but very important world. Best wishes for the future. Thanks for the great videos.

The gearbox in a F4 car, is a six speed sequential paddle shift. So it has very little to do with driving a manual. You only use the clutch, when starting and stopping the car.
@VoljinableАй бұрын
@@akyhne Disclaimer: i cant actually drive, i only do simracing with shifters and with clutch and stickshift. Correctly using the shifters takes some practise to get used to. Maybe 10 to 20 laps before you can confidently shift, know which shift you;re on, how to downshift quickly and which is the right gear to be on. Its easy but you want to not think about it so you can give the racing, steering and breaking all your attention. It needs some time before it gets to that point though.
@akyhneАй бұрын
@Voljinable I don't know how old I was, when I did Sim racing the first time. Maybe late 20s. I had no issue adapting to paddle shift, you just listen to the engine, like you also do, when driving a stick. It didn't take a lap to adapt. But I guess it's harder, when you have only ever driven with automatic. And just a FYI for you. She wasn't going any faster, than you could do in any normal +120 hp car.

Germans do that and worse things on a daily basis on our Autobahn. 100 mph, 3 kids on the backseat, a dog in the trunk and the nagging mother in law on the phone. It only gets stressful when you meet a left-lane-sneaker who only goes 95 mph...
@theguitargamer337210 күн бұрын
You really can't understand how difficult this would be if she were truly pushing this car. She was going very slow compared to what these cars can do and she was still having a hard time keeping it under control..Now imagine going into these same corners with so much speed and braking that the car is essentially drifting around each turn..because that is what happens only at a shallower slip angle. I cannot overstate how much more difficult this would be and how huge of a time gap 50 seconds is. It takes drivers years to even shave of .200 of a second from their best times. When these cars are being pushed you are shifting up and down through the gears constantly and she is only using a couple of gears...It is impressive to drive one of these but you are talking about something that is just not comparable from a competitive driving viewpoint. There are too many factors that you just could not understand without racing experience of some form. Could she do it with years of practice? Sure a lot of people could. But rarely can anybody just just in one and be great at it bc if that were the case, everyone would be doing it.

Hi Michelle can you please make a video about trying to master horsebackriding? A lot of people often say it's not a sport and it's very easy, but it would be really cool if you would show to the people that it's actually more than just sitting on a horses back.

Michelle getting to meet and interview Max Verstappen and trying F1 was not in my 2024 bingo card but I love this sooooo much ❤❤❤
@johnvermette9466Ай бұрын
Wow @MichelleKhare ! That was awesome! I've been following F1 since I was maybe 6 or 7 years old, and the mere fact that you the Red Bull F1 Racing Team invited you to their training facility, have you ride in a modified F1 car, and let you drive one of their F4 cars, is just amazing! I'm so happy for you and the fact that you had so much fun doing all of it translates very well through the screen! I've been following your journey since I saw you trained with the LAPD, and you have inspired me (and countless others) to get out of our comfort zones and try something new! Much Love and Respect to you, my human sister, from Quebec, Canada 🇨🇦⚜️

@@mumblethedevil That video by far is the most epic of them all if you ask me. She killed it for sure and during the fight she looked like a boxer with her foot work and movement, her punching needed some more work but overall she did win the fight out right. Even though Andrea had another fight before her training was a bit sub par. I would love to see her box one more time to see how much she kept in her tool box now.

F1 has became more popular in the states these days but has been popular around the world for sooo many years. I am Dutch, and I support Max. Your video shows that F1 isn't just driving a car but there is so much more behind it, so thank you for showing that. I love your videos and once again you did an amazing job with this video as well. !!!
@lino222Ай бұрын
Yeah, the "becoming popular in the last few years" made my brain skip a synapse, if anything it has lost some of it's appeal...at least to me, after Ayrton Senna's death.

I used to be a huge F1 fan (I've pulled back a bit) and I remember they had a go kart race at the end of season (?). I love the engineering part of F1, but it was amazing to see the F1 drivers compete with very similar hardware to more clearly see the difference. This was back in Schumachers days. If I recall the end result was like any other F1 race.
@HowieGordonMusicАй бұрын
2:17 is NOT a bad f4 time for someone who hasn't even driven Karts competitively before. You didnt even use trail braking (which is quite a difficult skill acquire anyway). I'm BEYOND impressed Michelle.
@dantealigieri2268Ай бұрын
In addition to trail braking, the left foot is used for braking. This allows you to transfer weight quickly and thus affect grip. I also use it in regular riding. My role model has always been Walter Rohlr.

I love that Max had that outlook. I know he is harder on himself, but hearing him put it into to perspective that way shows how good a person he is. Even with the upbringing he had. He is going to be a great dad!!

He didn't care about how I was performing, he only asked if I had fun. And this is why Max is also doing simracing. He has fun on racing. I is loving this so much, that he is doing it in free time in iRacing. He is even do simracing in his motorhome when he is on tour with F1. But you had a ones in a lifetime experience. Most simracers would be loving it to get the opportunity to race a F4 car! You also did a good job with the clutch. For us Europeans no problem. But for a non clutch user, you did very well ;)
